Yo,

Now you need to learn to set and throw the bones to make numbers. You will feel much better winning WITH the table. :)

I look forward to my turn to throw because I know I'll make some money.;)

The day that happens is when the cruise line holds a "Dark Side Only" tournament. LOL But I do try to set up them bones for the numbers 2,3,7,11, and 12. But I would feel much better playing at your table though and teach you a thing or two. You don't live that far. Name the time and place. I'll spot your bus fare after you are busted out. Hahaha

Cruzin - you ought to know by now that Yo won't go with the setters and DI's - maybe you can give him a ride home in the limo after he goes broke after all of the 7s on the come out :p:p:p

everyone knows the dice don't have a memory - we just try to make the numbers we want to show up on the top! :D:D:D

HAHAHA! Another "RIGHT" player. That's okay. I know I will always be dissed by you guys at the table. Even the experts call us dark side players, loners. Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names can never hurt me. MMMMMMMMM See you at the curb with cruzincurt waiting for the bus to show up. :p

are there any other precision shooters, D.I.'s or dice setters lurking about? How about it?

oh don't get me wrong yo - I believe there are times to play the don'ts.. and I do! here's a classic example of when not to! I just watched this happen last Wednesday at the Gold Strike in Tunica...

A shooter gets the dice for his come out roll.. lays 50 in the don't.. rolls a 6 and it becomes the point.. he lays 150 odds.. dice are out.. he rolls.. a 6.

instead of passing the dice.. oh hes gonna go dont's again.. 50 on the don't and here comes the come out roll.. its a 10.. (sly grin).. he's in good shape now.. a few rolls later.. 10! Big Ben!.. everybody at the table feels bad for this guy.. just pass already!

pass the dice? no sir! I'm gonna go again! he digs into the pocket and produces 500 more dollars. 100 bucks on the don't pass line! come on 2 or 3! sorry.. its a 7!

give up yet? no sir! not this "Tin Cup" of the craps table! 200 more on the don't.. come out roll... 9! teh shooter take out more cash so he can go 400 odds on the back. at this point, even the right siders and praying for a 7 for this poor boy but of course, everyone at the table (except the shooter) see that this guy is on a hot roll and we're loaded up on the pass line with free odds.. the shooter rolls, and rolls and about 15 rolls later we get a decision.. you guessed it.. a 9. now instead of cheers from winning players, theres a huge GROAN.. the first time I've ever seen that happen on a winning point.. and finally, Mr. Darkside Don't Tin Cup Crapshooter is done. and passes the dice... over a thousand bucks later..

message to players.. FOLLOW THE TREND! DO'S SOMETIMES DON'T!

SOMETIMES DONT'S WON'T DO!

I think some folks are just afraid to play the don'ts .. In some places, you will catch hell from the rightway bettors and even be called names.. they want you to lose.. I guess they don't realize there's money to be made on that side of the table too..

Well, if everyone was a winner, then we would all be millionaires. Unfortunately, this guy was trying to make up his losses by making huge don't pass bets with large lay odds bets. It does work often but ultimately the house has the advantage no matter what and it bit him in the rear.

I agree, his betting was NOT what to do. He should have continued to play his 50 dollar don't pass bet rather than increasing it like that. His error was not the fact he was deciding to shoot his own seven, but is betting strategy was faulted.

Interesting the pass line players were groaning when he rolled the point. I have never seen pass players have any sympathy for a dark side player that rolls the dice.

The only time I roll the dice is when the folks at the table become arrogant and act stupid or if there is a precision shooter that I like to rattle. I find these guys are the ones that tend to get annoyed by dark side rollers and will stop playing for awhile. HAHA!

Yo...from the link you posted:

"Wrong or "Don't" bettors are generally despised by right bettors. They usually stand at one of the corners of the table, silent and inconspicuous. I've always taken delight in watching them lose. Nothing makes me happier than to watch a shooter make his point when there's a stack of chips sitting in the "Don't pass" section of the layout. Don't bettors wait patiently for seven to be rolled. When and if it is, they must celebrate in silence and collect their "ill gotten gains" without fanfare."

Somehow I picture a Don't player dressed like father time, or an undertaker, black cloak and all HAHA. :p

I personally don't see why there should be anything "socially unacceptable" about betting wrong. Mathematically, there is little difference between the pass and don't pass (0.05% = 1 in 2000, just about a wash). The combined edge of flat+odds looks better for the don't better, but to me it looks like an illusion, because for the same win, the don't better must put up more money.

As for attitude... let me tell you a little story. Many years ago, I was introduced to the Options market in the stock exchange. Looking around at the time, it seemed to me that there was a toy company which was not going to do well that Christmas. So I bought "puts" on that company - essentially this means that the lower the company stock goes, the more money I would make. In other words. a "don't" bet. As expected, the company went south that winter, and I turned a good profit. My wife (at the time) asked me how I could be so happy that the company was going so badly. My answer was simply that it was the direction I bet on. Nothing personal.

One more thing - wrong players often stand at the table ends for a good reason - look at where the "Don't come" box is on the layout! LOL

I don't have any problem with Don't bettors. The way I see it, at least somebody at the table is winning when the table is cold! And I will switch to their side if it's icy enough! But I'm also not very superstitious about the dice. I certainly don't think that the way somebody else is betting affects the dice in any way.

I would get irritated if a Don't bettor was obnoxious about gloating when they won, but that would be because they were obnoxious, not because they were a Don't bettor.

And yeah, it is easiest to play Don't from the end of the table, because of the position of the Don't Come box.

I would guess that playing the Don'ts one has to be extra careful watching the dealers since they are not used to those bets, especially with a full table with lots of chips. Not all the craps dealers who rotate in and out of the table on the cruise ships are that sharp. That's why I always bet the same way so I can keep an eye on my chips and bets.

Yo, I'm a convert...I will go dark on the next cruise if the table is cold and full of $20 bankrollers.;)

And, sorry, but I don't do buses.

One thing that does irritate me is after a point goes down, and I have two or three Come bets on the table, the morons that root for a 7 on the Come out roll. They just don't understand the game IMO.

HA! It is my guess that they wanted you to lose so you would leave the table and they could actually have some fun. LOL!

I wouldnt mind playing at a table with some dark side people provided they had a personality. I would be "trash talking" them when they rolled and hoping they hit a point and hopefully when I rolled they would be doing the same. I look at gambling as entertainment and like all entertainment it has a cost to it.

The most fun I have had gambling was in AC when the dealer told us "it was her table and any money we put on the table would be her's soon". We laughed and made jokes and overall had a good time. clearly she was kidding but it set a good atmosphere at the tables.

A "push" is 30 seconds of free entertainment

Yeah-you gotta love playing with those silent night types that just sit there and say nothing during the entire game. Brings lots of excitement to the game. Sorta like this. :D

We had a wonderful cruise, which included a few nights at the craps table. I'm a newbie, did my homework, and am proud to say that after several hours at the table I came back a winner!

I started each evening with $100 and left each time after almost 2 hours with an extra $50-$70. I know, not a lot of money, but it was very entertaining. I typically bet the pass line with odds, a few come bets with oddas, and occasionally bet the six or eight, with odds. My longest roll was 25 minutes, and made money for everyone at the table.

Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and advice. I think I'm hooked!

I have to disagree with you a lot here as I nod by head right and left going tisk tisk........

If you started with a bank of $100 and left the table with an extra $50-$75 each time you played then you made a LOT of money. Think about it. That is between $25 and $35 dollars and hour. You got PAID not only for having fun but earned a very good profit. You said you played for a few nights. We will call it three nights. It appears you netted $180 for the trip. This is an outstanding return for a beginner.

Think about if you doubled up your bank and went in with $200 and doubled all your bets. You would have killed the table.

Congratulations and a job well done. I am proud of ya!

Betting the don't is a real grind. It is a great way to rack up slow and steady profits. Employing a conservative money management technique, it is a good way to play. Before anyone risks any money on the table you need a COMPLETE understanding of the entire game. A fool and his money can be easily seperated at the tables. I can't tell you how many times I have had to school the dealers on proper payoffs. This is especially true when playing the don't. Many dealers on the ships are very personable,

however, they don't get enough action from the dark side players to be

proficient in paying the don't. If you are going to play you must be able to figure out the proper payoffs instantly. Do not depend on a dealer to calculate anything for you. It is your money and your responsibility to know what you should be payed.

Thanks for the kind words. You're right, I actually did well! Yes, I played three nights. I'm a happy newbie. :)

There were a couple of dark side players. They were quiet...stealthy...trying not to draw attention to themselves. At least that's how this newbie read them. They did ok...can't say how well, as I was concentrating on my new found addiction, and they seemed to disappear fairly quick. Once I become 100% comfortable, I'm sure I'll have fun toying with you dark siders. :p Dare I say I may become one? Probably not. I really enjoyed the interaction with the other players as we helped eachother win!

Oh, and the guys running the table were great, both helpful and funny. YES, I left a chip tip each evening.
