  1. S class pools and hot tubs are all fresh water, but I've never noticed a heavy chlorine smell in the Solarium.
  2. You can manually adjust the time on just about any fitness tracker. Look on Amazon.
  3. What they are able to offer depends, in large part, on what the disability is. What type of assistance do you require? If you go to the Princess Cruise website, scroll to the small print at the very bottom of the page. Click on Accessible cruising. That will bring up a FAQ page. Scroll down to the Accessible Cruising section. As well as information, there are links and contacts. Another source of information (not necessarily Princess specific) is this forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/114-disabled-cruise-travel/
  4. On our cruise thru Thailand and Vietnam, the ship held our passports. They did return ours on request when we did an overnight off the ship in Bangkok. Something to consider though when doing excursions on/in water: your DL is waterproof. Your passport is not, and getting it soaked would likely render it invalid.
  5. And now we drift into what kind of entertainment one enjoys, which is as individual as food preferences. (I wouldn't rank Dangerfield anywhere near many of his contemporaries of the 70s). Sorry I didn't add the /s emoji to my previous comment. But that wasn't what the original question was. Personally, I don't think yout need an A list entertainer in order to provide very good entertainment that appeals to the majority of the passengers. And I doubt that many cruise lines could afford an A lister, or even find one who would commit to a full season doing cruises. Times have changed. On the mass market lines, I think they benefit from a mix of entertainment that isn't as dependant on language proficiency by the pax as comedians are. But a point to the OP- the actual contracting of guest entertainers for the evening shows (as opposed to the onboard entertainment crew) is probably done by HQ, and the CD has little say in those matters. All he does is schedule their shows.
  6. Well if the OP thinks that there is no better entertainment possible on a ship than Rodney Dangerfield... perhaps he deserves to sit in a chair and stare at the water for a week. OTOH, if he never bothers to go to any of the entertainment offerings, how could he possibly know whether they were good or not? Inquiring minds want to know.
  7. Do you want any entertainment or activities on the ship? That is their job- to program and oversee those aspects of a cruise ship. So unless you are content to sit in a chair and stare at the ocean or 4 walls, then I think most people would say they are necessary. And while there may not have been a CD on your particular cruise, they certainly existed in the 70s.
  8. Why not just do that dinner in the buffet? They have an Asian stir fry and noodle station on most ships
  9. Both are definitely in the luxury category, and a step above Celebrity and Azamara. But which might be considered "best" is a very individual opinion. Besides looking at reviews on line, I'd be more concerned on the itineraries offered and the amount of time spent in each port.
  10. But are they complimentary colors?
  11. And that would be great if HAL chose to go orange with their logo. But on Celebrity it (and the orange scaffolding on the side of the Edge class ships) looks jarring and tacky. X has always been associated with its Greek history, so deviating from blue and white just seems wrong.
  12. Perhaps instead of blaming the cruise line, the blame should go to all the passengers who ignored the warning that it was the passenger's responsibility to have all of the necessary documents BEFORE embarkation. Its not as if this warning is hidden. They should consider themselves lucky that they weren't denied boarding in the first place.
  13. Oh for heavens sake. How about you wait until the proposed changes have been made before dumping all over them? Maybe even try them before pronouncing judgement?
  14. Our longest stretch of sea days was either 7 or 8 coming back from Tahiti to LA. That was a day or 2 too long for us- the weather was cool and we'd become bored with the ship offerings by then. I'm not often glad to disembark, but I was after that one. I don't mind 4-5 sea days if they follow a busy period of ports beforehand.
  15. It may well depend on the port and the type of transport available. Ship excursions are chartered with local operators. Not all coaches can accommodate wheelchairs. And not all wheelchair users are able to climb the steps into the coach. It wouldn't hurt to ask this on the P&O forum, specifying the Ports that Ventura will be calling at. Previous cruisers on Ventura may be able to help. And yes, check out the Ports of Call forum for your specific Ports. Another forum that may be of use for you is the Disabled Cruising forum (look under Special Interests Topics.)
  16. I've got no idea about the Viva. I don't even know what line it's on without Googling it. Sounds like you aren't sure if you would enjoy the infinite verandah because it's impossible to regulate the A C with the window open. And that is a very valid concern. The reflection sunset balcony sounds wonderful, and you yourself said it had a better itinerary. It is an older ship, but that doesnt mean (in any way shape or form) that it is a shabby old rust bucket. Personally, I'd opt for Reflection.
  17. As stated above, you cannot get brewed coffee there, only espresso based coffees. And those coffees are fee based, although covered by the classic beverage package.
  18. Yes, that's why I posted above. Baby steps.
  19. Just saw that multiple news sources are reporting that India will resume visa services at the High Commission and consulates beginning tomorrow. Only for select categories, but they include entry visas.
  20. Several of Princess's ships have a cigar lounge. They all have a couple of outside smoking areas. Can't comment on the quality of the gyms. You'd have to check if any of their Med ships have the cigar lounge.
  21. Same. Someone from my university alumni association somehow managed to track me down recently. I've no idea how. I haven't lived there for decades, have never gone to a reunion, and use a different (married ) name. She wanted to know if I'd be attending our 50th anniversary reunion. I'm not going to spend money on airfare and hotels on the other side of the country, so why would I spend double or triple that on a cruise? Aren't most reunions held in the same place as their school?
  22. Your "hack" has never been appropriate. You show up late to suit yourself, while your table mates sit and twiddle their thumbs waiting for you, before anyone can place their dinner orders. You, and they, would both be better off if you chose anytime dining and could be seated whenever you chose to show up.
  23. A literal budgie smuggler. Not the usual kind seen around the pool. And how do they also smuggle aboard the bird seed to feed the little squawkers until they get back home. Not going to find that at the buffet. 🤔
  24. So according to you, these municipalities, and their governing bodies are ignorant, with no business sense or experience, and should just believe that the cruise corporations will always do what is in the best interests of the community. Does that about sum it up.? Sorry(not sorry), but if a community has done their homework and feels that they are better off (taking a wider view that encompasses the whole community, and not just the segment devoted to cruise port stops), then that is both their right and responsibility.
