  1. I’ve never sailed on Carnival cruise line before so no comment . Haven’t you done that itinerary just recently with your grandkids? Been there , done that! We sailed on the Koningsdam this past January to Hawaii from and return to San Diego . It’s an older crowd and the advantage is no kids . There is a deck devoted to music venues and we especially liked the Lincoln Center quartet. We tried the B B King music hall . It was too loud . We were not interested in anything else as my husband likes classical music and opera . The food was okay . We signed up for Club Orange and had our own dining room and upgraded cabin . We ate at two premium restaurants and the food was delicious and the presentation was very nice. The shows were not up to RCI standards in variety and quality. There were a few that dealt with Hawaii , of course. Major complaint and it’s big : We contracted Covid the last four days and were forced to sit in a room of over 100 people waiting for wheelchair assist because of my husband’s bum knee . I finally went up to the person charge and complained and we were evacuated immediately. I would cruise with HAL , again. And as my geometry teacher told the class in high school many years ago …. Only boring people are bored . We are sailing the Pacific coastal this month and in Astoria we are opting to tour Tillamook and the Oregon coast.
  2. @harryfat1 Yikes ! Thank you for the presentation and admit that you enjoyed it. As a shareholder you probably had the info at the ready. Now , how do they manage to keep their food costs down ? I had found something like this and thought it must be a mistake. Thank you !
  3. Jim , I had previously sent you a couple of these pics . So , I’m assuming you didn’t see them . My friend had a lovely time in Greenland. Their ship was accompanied by an icebreaker the whole time they were there including going through Prins Christian Sund .
  4. Harry , you should put your CPA hat on and look at RCI financial records . How much does Royal spend on food ? Are they spending less per passenger now than in the past ?
  5. I agree about the Met museum in NYC . We have plans to visit the Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle. Are you familiar with it ? After seeing his glass flowers at the Bellagio I want to see more.
  6. Very nice photo ! We’ll be in Victoria next month and I opted for the BC Museum and city highlights tour because we’ve never been to Victoria. It looks like a fabulous and peaceful place to relax and enjoy the scenery.
  7. @DaniDanielleHappy Birthday to the Lucky young lady ! @ReneeFLL Ships docking in Halifax used to be greeted by a bagpiper . If you are on a Cunard ship they serenade you arriving and departing. You’d have to check if they still have that tradition.
  8. For Jimbo , Well , this was not so easy for someone who is not computer literate. My friend didn’t specify where in Greenland this was taken . She returned last Friday and mentioned that there were ice breaker pilots on board for the 2 ports they visited in Greenland and for Prince Christian Sound , also.
  9. This one is for you . Kinda cloudy and it’s not even May . Taken from our local newspaper. Just kidding ! Thank you for posting your photos.
  10. Thanks , Dave ! Great suggestions , we are staying near Robson Square and we’ll be sure to take advantage of the location. You must have taken the gondola up to San Jacinto in Palm Springs.
  11. We arrive late on a Tuesday night and the ship sails at 5:00 PM on Friday. We’ve driven to Whistler from Vancouver and spent a summer week there . You are absolutely right about the drive . It reminded us of Scotland. We’ve bought HO HO tickets for two days but no big loss if we decide to forego one day . I’m thinking of going for the.sky ride . Interested in visiting Stanley Park , Granville and the Museum of Art in the city . Suggestions most welcomed. Thank you much !
  12. @Sunshine3601 So sorry for your loss . Losing a friend leaves one with great sadness. I hope , your memories give you comfort.
  13. @Tree_skier I’m wondering if you’ve ever taken the sea to sky gondola in Squamish? There’s a pick up shuttle in Vancouver and I’m seriously considering it. If it is on the road to Whistler it must be lovely.
  14. Our thoughts are with @singinalot and @mo&fran . Hopefully, Dani’s cousin is in recovery and her surgery was a success. Dani , have a relaxing and worry free cruise. Bon Voyage ⚓️🚢
  15. @singinalotI know you have more important things on your mind like your house flooding however if you are still in NY and tennis interests you then head over to Queens for the US Open.
  16. We flew to Kiruna from Stockholm . The Kiruna stay was business related . It never got dark and we ate venison twice a day for a week . I don’t like venison . My husband made all the arrangements and he doesn’t remember what he paid for the trip. The cabin was an inside cabin , the shower didn’t have a pan so the bathroom flooded every time we took a shower. The food was buffet style . The main attraction was the scenery. There were other passengers on board including Americans. We found out about this voyage from somebody at the meeting. The ship’s journey started near the Russian border and it was an 11 day boat ride to Bergen . Bergen to Stockholm by train was at least 13 hrs . The scenery was just beautiful with cascading waterfalls. It wasn’t bad just basic . To all in the hurricane’s path be safe .
  17. @Jimbo I received an e-mail today from a friend I met on a Mediterranean cruise . She returned this past Friday from a cruise that visited Greenland and Iceland. She commented that Greenland was enjoyable, unique and lovely . She’ll try to get photos to me and if she does I’ll forward them to you with her permission. She used to live in Alaska and it reminded her of the small coastal villages back there. She did say the temps were on the cool side. As for the Norwegian fjords, we spent a week in Kiruna , Sweden , then took the train to Narvik , Norway where we boarded a working boat that delivered supplies and mail down the coast . It docked for 15 minutes, and no more, or else see ya , except in Trondheim where we were offered an excursion. Our final “ port “ was Bergen where we boarded a train to Stockholm . Lovely scenery but a primitive boat.
  18. There is no Embassy Suites in San Pedro . The Doubletree though mediocre serves it purpose . There’s a restaurant, a bar and a shuttle to the port . The better hotels are over the bridge in Long Beach . You can stay near LAX and take Über to the port or you can fly to Long Beach instead of LAX . I hear , you have an expert TA who can help with the logistics . I find Travelweekly dot com a great help in selecting hotels . We dock in San Pedro this October and we’ll probably just take a look at the USS Iowa .
  19. @Sea Dog We took this cruise this past October and I’m no way as observant as Harry . I don’t remember the tent because as previously discussed elsewhere we bypassed all of that because of bum knee and the wheelchair assist. We had no problems boarding at all . They were very helpful. We’ve been in Southern California long enough to have visited Howard Hughes’s Spruce Goose . We’ve stayed on the Queen Mary and sailed on the QM2 . My husband and I have spent some time in Long Beach and can give recommendations for hotels there and in LA . We stayed at the Doubletree in San Pedro prior to this cruise and it was just okay. No dumps ! Only those in the know know what I’m referring to . No tiki bar recommendations , however.
  20. @singinalot You probably traveled to Asia on your boat tour . Your dresses are lovely.
  21. @grapau27 Happy anniversary Graham and Pauline 🌹Wishing a lovely couple and lovely day . I’m certain it will be classy .
