  1. POA is an excellent way toget a taste of Hawaii, but for those who have experienced the islands previously, it adds little to the experience. We enjoyed the cruise, but it was much more entertaining to stay with family for a week and explore on our own. It is very expensive 7 day cruise because it is a USA ship. I liked having no casino, but others may see that aspect differently.
  2. Always considered dining rooms a public place, been given knives there often.
  3. Because the Jewel is headed to Asia later this year.
  4. Right, no ships should go to Iceland or Antarctica.
  5. Looks like a great cruise, too bad the winter baseball league ends in December.
  6. Based on reviews of sister ship Prima, you selected a good ship to not have any cold weather.
  7. Surprised no one mentioned the highly praised Cats, won't be crowded there.
  8. Now I see why the Star cruises are often very cheap, sounds as bad as the Dawn.
  9. Disappointing itineraries and very high prices, hope we see another ship sailing out of Singapore. Anthem?
  10. Never been on the Star, how is the upper deck observatory? Would think it a great thing on this itinerary. I ask because on a similar cruise on Prima, the Observatory was used by the art people.
  11. Have a Wells Fargo card with no annual fee which pays 2% on all purchases, can redeem as small as $25 statement credits.
  12. I have seen people get 1099g's for $1,200 from casinos. Many do not understand that one can deduct gambling losses up to the amount of winnings, but they are itemized deductions, and so few can itemize deductions these days. Do people really need another reason not to gamble?
  13. They could have camped out in the public restrooms, very comfortable seats, water available.
  14. Not everyone considers a bar an activity.
  15. I love to cruise without a phone or tablet, helps me relax. Very happy that I am so unimportant that I can go weeks without going on line. I would think the free at sea would be sufficient for any "emergency". "
  16. So it appears that NCL cut back a higher percentage than Royal Caribbean, sounds right.
  17. It was a step down from Gem in most every respect, the music in the bars was not as good. Leo spoiled me on Gem. The general feel for most areas was down, they replaced the flooring on our deck and the workers wore masks all day, no consideration for the guests. Many developed a terrible cough. They had a Four Seasons group, then they got off the ship and another Four Seasons group from Vegas got on the ship. We ate in the Four Seasons Restaurant on board, got tired of Frankie Valle. The guy who ran trivia was a Canadian who flooded the contests with questions about tennis and James Bond because he was a fan of both. Was very proud that Canada invented basketball, but he knew nothing about the NBA. There was very little information available about the Panama Canal, Glad I read The Path Between the Seas.
  18. Popeye would tell you that you missed the humor in his statement.
  19. Did a cruise in April on the 3,200 passenger Explorer of the Seas and in June on the 4,000 passenger Liberty of the Seas(Royal Caribbean), on both cruises our cabins were available by 1:15
  20. I agree about wanting a live band, not recorded music with one live performer. My only cruise on Carnival was a TA on the brand new Horizon, hated the theater and the karaoke effect, have not gone back.
  21. Looks like "Why does the WiFi not work" Is the most important question.
