  1. From what I've seen they cruise in about every region of the world, except Africa. But I'm sure you know that right? So why would you ask that?
  2. Ok, fine, for others, if you want to make sure you get what you want. on really any cruise ship, give the bartender a hint of what you want for main ingredients in your drink order.
  3. What I was 'trying' to point out is that even with Mai Tai's, there are regional differences, just like with a LOT of drinks. The 'recipe' for purist's changes depending on the region you are in.
  4. I can see why there is a problem with commonly named drinks from different parts of the world having different ingredients. What I've seen people do is ask for the drink and give the bartenders the common ingredients that are in it so there is no confusion. I've also seen the bartenders ask about ingredients before, I think they might 'know' about some of the 'problem' drinks. From Wiki: "In the years thereafter, pineapple juice, orange juice, and a dark rum float became commonly used in Mai Tais produced in Hawaii.[11]
  5. That's funny, we really had the same thing happen, the two very young ladies that handled our room knew absolutely nothing about anything 'alcohol' related. It all worked out fine using, 'four more of these please'. (showing what we wanted)

I wonder if all the cruise credit for cancelled cruises has finally flowed thru the system. I know on our VO cruise two months ago I heard a few people were still using it up.
  7. It is the small airplane bottles only, so I think the brands and types are limited. Do they put bourbon in those small bottles?
  8. You know, I was thinking the same thing but there are probably many 'last minute' injuries that maybe the OP could pull that off,. and X has last mininte people that need an accessible. I've heard pickle ball is a problem that way. OP I would hit X up on it and see what they say.
  9. Wow, this thread is full of, let's just say, 'interesting' information so really be careful with what you read here. As far as the tmobile info here, it varies depending on the plan you have so the info here may or may not apply. As far as 'text' messaging goes when using apple imessage, do a search on it if you want a detailed explanation on how it differs from SMS texting.
  10. What did they use before that location?
  11. Ok, that explains what you saw with your 'texting', imessage is not just 'regular' SMS text.
  12. Do you an iphone and the imessage app for texts?
  13. Yes, thanks, very interesting. I thought O priced out a lot higher than VO but I guess not. Not sure about others but the retractable roof over the pool on VO I think is a real benefit, it makes that space usable even on cruises in the far north.
  14. If you don't eat fish from fish farms you will not be eating much fish these days.
  15. Not sure if it's changed (again) since Feb. but the shrimp cocktail then only had three shrimp so he might have to order 4 of them.
  16. You can ask them stock gin, I think they'll do like four a day, maybe four, twice a day. They use the little airplane size bottles. They didn't have diet tonic anywhere on board, not sure if that's normal for VO or not. So, if you really 'like' gin and don't want to make trips to the bar bring a bottle. They stock what you ask them to stock.
  17. I'm not sure I would say that hotel is 'outside' of Revk, but it is away from the downtown area that's for sure. I can see why VO uses that hotel because that's fairly close to the cruise port they use. Reyk airport is a, well I better not say. It seems to me that the VO extensions are more about convenience and luggage handling, etc. than anything. You can always DIY it cheaper and have more flexibility, it's more of a personal choice.
  18. The supply chain issues are long gone, this is all about reducing debt load, and RC has some serious debt. The current interest rates are NOT what these companies need when refinancing debt. It's really that simple. If food is really important it's not the time to sail X. RC/X put up their E class ships as collateral and RC has to do everything they can to keep going.
  19. Sounds like the starlink location is reported as where the ground station is located at.
  20. I think that might have changed in the last year or so.
  21. Interesting, I didn't see a single one a month ago, that's why I thought they were banned. But it was an NYC- Iceland cruise and it was challenging for mobility issues so seasoned travelers probably avoided that cruise.
  22. On the last day of the Great Lakes cruise I was standing by the 'meats' and a guy came up and asked how it worked. I told him and he had the biggest look of disappointment on his face. He hadn't 'used' it the whole cruise. Anyway, I think they had a great chicken sandwich there also, on the GL cruise a little over a year ago.
  23. I think part of it is they don't allow scooters right? I was surprised, the average age was lower than I expected.
  24. To help with decision making we took a taxi from the ship to central downtown Reykjavik (3 weeks ago), same block as a gray line office, and it was $33 (US). This was at around 9:00 am.
