  1. I did one cruise out of Galveston and would not go out of my way to repeat that experience again from the Northeast. Celebration all the way. I don't think whatever small upgrades they are doing to the Jubilee will make that much of a difference.
  2. Not on this sailing but one is March and one day almost all the available dining options like Teppanyaki, and the Chef's table disappeared. I am guessing its a glitch and not a sold out issue. The website has been reallll funky since the "upgrade".
  3. I just went to look at pricing for a reservation for an 11 night sailing on Carnival in March. When I clicked the link to book at the MCT and selected my voyage I was shocked (in a good) way to see that it was only charging me $315 and not the $495 I was anticipating. Since I chose based on my voyage, I am guessing they might not have a ton of cars parked there at that time so are giving a slight discount, or maybe an early bird pricing structure? I was fully planning on taking a car service but for $315 I might not be able to beat that price.
  4. I just noticed in the Fun Times that the operating times for the bars are not listed, and the note to check the app for more opening times. Do you have any idea what bar opened up first in the morning? On most ships its the red frog bar in the lido area which makes it easy to grab a screwdriver with breakfast. Loving the review and the pictures!
  5. That's President's week for us and if we can get a deal like that for 3 people, it would be wayyyy cheaper than sailing from the east coast that week. Even with airfare.
  6. Great report and beautiful pictures as always. And you make a great case for B2Bs because your second departure day was a true nightmare in the city. My normal 1 hour drive home took more than 3 that day due to flooded roadways, on top of that commuter trains were down, and many subways were flooded. Hopefully everyone made it to the ship safely. And it makes sense that the QM2 was held even longer, Red Hook is notoriously a place you don't want to be when we get heavy rains, the streets flood like crazy even with moderate rains.
  7. I have canceled pre-ordered Cheers in order to book it again with a Chase credit card promo. They don't want people getting on the ship and deciding its not for them, or canceling it after the first sea day.
  8. Just cruise on a ship with a Guy's Pig and Anchor bar, they always carry Eagle Rare. Guy's always has the best whisky/bourbon selection in the fleet.
  9. Some up to date information about those under 2. The under 2's time is generally really early in the morning before Camp Ocean open, we stayed in the kids club with our 18 month old and she was able to play with toys that they would bring out for her and explore the space. We are early risers so this was perfect for us. Hours (time/activity may vary based on cruise itinerary) Children under the age of 2 are welcome to join Camp Ocean programming and Night Owls during specific times. Hours may vary due to cruise itineraries. Once on board, activity schedules for Camp Ocean are available via the HUB App as well as drop off times for children under 2. During some cruises, Camp Ocean capacity may be limited. Sea Days There are limited times throughout the cruise for ‘Under 2' time. During these times, parents/guardians have the option of leaving their child in the care of the Youth Staff (fees apply: $7.50 USD per hour plus an 18% service charge, per child) – or - they can stay and use the camp facility at no charge. This time is designated for the use of 'Under 2’s' and parents/guardians only. Check on board for specific times offered. Hours may vary due to cruise itineraries. Port Days While in port, parents/guardians have the option of leaving their child in the care of the Youth Staff (fees apply: $7.50 USD per hour plus an 18% service charge, per child), however, we do not provide care during meal times for children 'Under 2'; parents/guardians must return from port at this time. Evenings Night Owls (babysitting fees apply: $7.50 USD per hour plus an 18% service charge, per child). From 10:00pm-1:00am each evening in the Camp Ocean facility, a ‘slumber party’ type atmosphere, including movie time, toys and room service snacks. During this time, there will be children from other age groups (ages 2-11) participating in Night Owls. Cribs are available if needed.
  10. I would suggest looking at the deck plans, they usually list what the bed set up is for any room that holds more than two people.
  11. Has anyone used the under 2 drop off services? - Yes What are the hours generally like? - The hours are generally when the kids club is NOT open for regular activities, so it could be only 2 hours a day, more if in port. Does it hit capacity quickly? Hard to get a space? - Depends on your trip, but I've personally never had that issue. Is the care decent? My kids all loved the older kids clubs and I rave about them but I've never brought a young child before. The younger kids will be dotted on, we went to the open play hours before the kids club opened each day with my kid so the staff knew her already. Never had any issues with the care.
  12. For me its easy, the simply addition of the Guy's Pig & Anchor over the Red Frog brewery on the Horizon is a win for me. I enjoy the Guy's craft beers. the bourbon selection, and the vibe of that bar over the Reg Frog on the Vista. I've been on both ships (the Horizon twice) and prefer the Horizon.
  13. This is really interesting as I've never seen an extra bed like this, so thanks for sharing a photo. Can you share what room # you were in? Was it listed as a room for three people?
  14. You beat me to it! I sent my parents a box (which is surprisingly not overpriced like Goldbelly) and they loved it, 10/10 would recommend for anyone who wants the real thing at home.
  15. And you know your kid better than anyone else. I would suggest put the $100 limit on there and since she won't be freely roaming the ship herself or with an older sibling just monitor her activity, don't let her spend $100 in one shot. It will be easier than constantly changing the limit via the kiosk, or waiting in line at guest services (neither are ways I would choose to spend my time on vacation).
  16. Assuming you won't be sending a 6 year old into the arcade by herself. Just monitor her activity and honestly if she blows through the $100 in a day, she'll learn a valuable lesson about the value of a dollar. Wow I sound old and preachy but we're trying to instill that with my 6 year old. On our last cruise she was mindful to keep some money for the must have item she spotted in the candy shop, while still spending some money in the arcade, and picking up some small things here and there.
  17. I was there during the Blue Jays series and was gutted to see that the NY Local craft beer stand was gone.
  18. We had the same experience on the Celebration in February, looks like its the new norm. Definitely less people playing roulette than in the past. But I am guessing they are making more money which is what matters to them.
  19. The Friends fountain is on a soundstage in LA. But honestly tourists are ALWAYS looking for it in NYC. In fact if you get a pedicab ride in Central Park they will likely tell you that the fountain is in Central Park at Cherry Hill, among other incorrect "facts".
  20. That's so frustrating - especially when you're crunched into your seat. Hopefully you're on your way sooner than later.
  21. Very cool to see Monaco getting set up for the grand prix this weekend. Between Cannes film festival and the Monaco GP its a very busy time for that region.
  22. I am loving this trip report. I feel like I can smell that photo of the cafe with all the locals in it even though I haven't been in France for 20 years.
  23. Between 10-11am. It was a few years ago so I don't know if things have changed based on ship capacity - I think there were 2 NCL and 1 Carnival ships regularly using the port at that time. When we were checked in and waiting to get onboard there were still tons of people coming off the ship. So maybe just an anomaly. The problem with getting there early is that not everyone will be off the ship yet, yes some express debark people will be off early but the NYC has always been notoriously slow at getting people off.
  24. I've shown up and there were only 3 parking spots left, I heard people onboard talking about being turned away from the parking structure. I would pay the $5 for piece of mind.
