  1. For $40, it really is a good deal, we've been there before. It includes beach, pool, inflatables, life vest, water slides, and non-motorized boats. For food and drinks, you can PAYG or buy a package. But, there's no minimum, so you don't have to buy any food or drink. They don't have any cheaper entry options.
  2. Perhaps your boo-boo last week paid off after all! I don't see the $500 cards, only $100.
  3. Thanks for the heads up. On the horizon, we had a choice between that cabin and 2415, which, despite only 1 number off, is 7 cabins down. Hopefully we fare better!
  4. Best thing about the internet: reassures my tendency towards paranoia! Unless, of course, you are all lying so I let my guard down, and Allstate really is out to get me...
  5. Yes, the earlier you check in on line, the better the chances of an earlier boarding time. Most priority groups check in at 16 days. FTTF checks in at 14 days. Apparently most ports allow priority groups, including FTTF, to ignore arrival times and to come whenever they want. I haven't heard about Baltimore specifically.
  6. When I go to log in, it looks like it's loading, and then all I get is a blank white page.
  7. Anyone else having trouble getting into their allstate rewards account? Or is it just me?
  8. Could have "borrowed" some golf balls from the mini golf course.
  9. Amber Cove is about 6-7 miles from Puerto Plata. I don't know where Monkeyland is, but reviews on carnival.com said it was about a 20 minute bus ride.
  10. Their ship. Their rules. They can interpret the rules however they wish. Guests can accept or or swim home. There is no debate as to who's definition of obscene applies. Carnival gets to decide. Security at our local theme park pulls people aside as they enter the park telling them they need to change their shirt or leave. 90% or more of the gen pop may not agree with their distinction between ok and obscene, but it doesn't matter. Their park, their rules.
  11. My wife and daughter got great offers. I got terrible offers. All of the expenses of all cruises went to the same credit card. In terms of the folio breakdown, my wife probably had the most on hers, and my daughter the least. Yet, they both got the better offers. I'm sure there is a reason. Their marketing analytics spits out who gets what offers, and they keep those top secret.
  12. It can be done as soon as you book. But, I've always just called. Never even tried the website method.
  13. What You Get | Benefits of the VIFP Club | Carnival Cruise Line
  14. We'll be there on a Sunday, so probably very busy. 4 ships in port at Miami that day.
  15. Thanks for the review. We plan on this excursion, but with carnival and departing FLL, but I guess the park experience will be about the same. Out flight departs after 6pm so we'll have time for dinner at the airport before going home.
  16. Was this with a free trial of Clear or the free Clear reserved?
  17. Regan national has the paid Clear only. Orlando has both the paid Clear membership as well as the free option. Op was asking about the free option.
  18. Yep. Dogs at airport security at MCO were really interested in some guys suitcase. Couldn't stop sniffing it, but didn't sit or lay down. The guy was really uncomfortable. Security guy with the dog told him not to worry.... he just needed to do his laundry when he got home!
  19. Thanks. It's a bit of a strange situation, I guess, because if the 22 year old had her own cabin, it would be fine. The two younger ones will be arriving with my wife and I. It's just the oldest coming with the grandparents. In terms of a meeting place, I should have added. My father-in-law has somewhat limited mobility. The Riverwalk Food Court might be a little too far from the Erato St. Terminal. The nice thing about the Erato St. terminal is how the parking is just an elevator ride to the check in.
  20. Also, you can use for pre-cruise purchases. So, you can use it to buy Cheers at the pre-cruise rate (or anything else, like wi-fi or excursions).
  21. We have a total of 4 cabins booked (all Oceanview). One cabin is my wife and myself. In a connecting cabin we have our 3 kids, ages 22, 14, and 11. Their cabin is linked to ours, which is needed for the 14 and 11 year olds. My parents are in a cabin down the hall, and father-in-law also down the hall. We're driving to the port, in two cars. The plan is for our 22 year old to spend some time with my parents prior to the cruise, and they will meet us at the port. If they get there before us, will they have to wait for us to check in? Or would we have to wait for them, if we get there first? We're not coming from the same place, so coordinating arrival times will be approximate at best. The port is New Orleans, so, if one group has to wait for the other, is there a good place to arrange to meet? Thanks!
  22. Two points: If you get travel insurance anyway, it is generally much more comprehensive than what the credit card benefit is, so you probably aren't forfeiting anything by not using the credit card. It might vary card to card, but you don't need to pay for the entire vacation with the credit card, only a portion. You can therefore pay the minimum needed with the credit card to get any benefits you want/need, and pay the rest with discounted gift cards. Best of both worlds!
  23. If you stay at a Fort Lauderdale hotel with free airport pickup, you only have to arrange for one transfer: from your hotel to the port in the morning. There are lots of such hotels with shopping and restaurants within walking distance. This is what we are doing (Hyatt Place, Dania Beach). If you want to stay in Miami, you need to arrange transport to the hotel, and then transport from the hotel to the port in the morning. The advantage here is that if you get to Miami early enough, you can find a hotel within walking distance of more activities/points of interest. Such hotels will cost more, though. We're arriving midafternoon and planning an early bedtime. For us, staying in Miami didn't seem worth it.
  24. You can try transferring the booking to a TA (depends on when you first booked as to whether you can or not, and if you're paid in full, you'll have to call your TA of choice and ask the deadline). A good TA would know how to escalate and possible ways to resolve. They may also know about whether a recording of the carnival associate exists and, if so, if it could help you.
