  1. It'll ask you during on line check in. It's very easy. You can change it at guest services on board, at any time.
  2. So it now says that "gift cards ends in 6 days." Will be interesting to see what that entails, exactly. Maybe no gift cards at all? Maybe switch to ecards? Maybe no change at all?
  3. We thought about a beach hotel for a quick moment, and then discarded the idea: 1. More money 2. No airport shuttle 3. By the time we arrived in FLL, not much time to enjoy the beach anyway, and just staying 1 night 4. We'll have beach time while visiting ports If we were to stay in FLL for a few days before/after the cruise, then it'd be a different story.
  4. Lots of shuttle companies, which work better than Uber with large groups or lots of luggage.
  5. Lots of shuttle companies, and also uber/lyft. We're doing this for our cruise in 4 weeks! Staying at Hyatt Place, Dania Beach. Free shuttle to the hotel from FLL. Larry's Limos from the hotel to the port the following morning (based on reviews here and other sites).
  6. Enjoying your review! We'll be on Horizon in just a few weeks... July 8! Hope our MDR experience is better than yours... we have early dining also. With 3 kids, specialty dining each night would get expensive!
  7. Longest we've done morning of is 2.5 hours, Orlando to Jacksonville. I don't think I'd go longer than that.
  8. OK, so I can't find the actual width of the family harbor suites, but from what I can gather, I need about a 30 foot extension cord. This is how I came to that: It's hard to estimate the width of the family harbor suite in videos I've seen, but, looking at videos of the cove balconies, watching people walk between the bed and the wall, I'm estimating that distance to be 3-4 feet. Beds have a length of about 7 feet, for a total width of about 10.5 feet. Carnival lists the total square footage of the cove balconies to be 185 sq ft, and the family suites to be 275 sq ft. As the lengths of the cabins are the same, that means the width of the suites needs to be about 1.5x that of the cove balconies. That brings the width of the suite to be about 16 ft. Nightstands look to be about 2 feet high, leaving 5 feet to get to the ceiling. The desk looks about 3 feet, meaning 4 feet to get back to the desk. This is a total of 25 feet. But, the outlets aren't directly across from the nightstand, plus a bit of slack, brings the total to 30 feet. Does this sound right?
  9. How is that even possible? I hope you reported this to guest services. The fact that people can be locked in there is a serious safety issue.
  10. I'd wager the parents are checked out at home also.
  11. Carnival requires the departure time from mco to be no earlier than 12:50, so I wouldn't use that. There's lots of shuttle companies. I would pick a few that have really good reviews and price them. With luggage and 3 of you, you might need an Uberxl. Shuttle company may be cheaper, and the reservation will ask you number of people and luggage will fit. I would have pick up at the port, not across the street. The shuttle companies do this all the time. They'll know how to find you/ help you find them. With your flight time, I would plan on being on the road by 8:45 the latest. So, schedule an 8:30 pick up.
  12. Is there a different airline you can use, or maybe a flight out of FLL? With that much of a time change, change and cancellation fees are usually waived.
  13. For convenience, you can't beat: Stay at the Only Hotel Inside Miami International Airport (miahotel.com) It has mixed reviews, but depending on the time of your flights, it could be worth it not to have to take any type of shuttle or transportation from or back to the airport in the morning.
  14. In Cozumel, the town of San Miguel is a 15 minute CAR RIDE from the Carnival terminal. I looked up the restaurant you went to, and it does look fantastic. It's 3 miles from the Carnival pier! Good job walking!
  15. I thought they had the nightclub in the Limelight lounge? Also, we're always those people who get up and dance with the servers in the MDR during SHOWTIME. So, there's that. Our 8 day is Aruba, Curacao, La Romana and Amber Cove. Looking forward to hearing about Aruba!
  16. I can't wait until July 8!!!! You're killing me. Now I'm sad we're not doing a b2b. Did you try the Fresh Creations salad bar in Serenity?
  17. Across the street from the 18th Ave Hyatt: Dania Pointe: A Fort Lauderdale Mall and Dining Destination
  18. They can track the actual gift cards you were issued. If someone tries to use them, they'll know they were stolen.
  19. I have a CPAP and we have a Family Harbor Suite booked on the Horizon. First, will the magnetic hooks work for the ceiling? And, how long of an extension cord would I need to go up the wall, across the suite, and down to the desk? Are the suites double the width of a standard room? Thanks!
  20. With Carnival, the airport transfers are sold as port excursions. On the port excursions page, you would click day 1 for transfers to the port, and the last day of your cruise for transfers from the port. You actually have to buy them as one way transfers, there is no round trip option. I wouldn't dismiss Fort Lauderdale so readily. How many people are you? What's the flight difference? Transfers from Fort Lauderdale really aren't that much more, probably a lot less of a per person difference than you are seeing with flights. Price out a few shuttle companies to get an idea. Hotels in Fort Lauderdale are also generally cheaper than Miami (at least on my date). Also, when I was comparing, I found more FLL hotels that offered free transfers from the airport than MIA. Really, the only advantage of Miami over Fort Lauderdale is the shorter drive to the port (unless you are planning to spend time in Miami). If you get a later flight, Carnival has a combo excursions and airport transfer, which I thought was reasonably priced. We're doing the Everglades tour with airport transfer. For our family of 5, the difference in flights going into FLL instead of MIA was well over $700. We opted for a private shuttle to the port, instead of a shared shuttle, so that will be $263, (including tip) - we wanted to be able to choose a pick up time. Everglades + FLL transfer was $294. Everglades tickets are $30 each, so taking off the $150, leaves $144 for the transfer. Even with our private shuttle and including the Everglades cost, we still are spending quite a bit less than a flight to Miami would have cost.
  21. It is spelled out pretty clearly here: Travel Documentation: U.S. Permanent Residents | Carnival Cruise Line
  22. Blue lagoon is a bucket list item for me. We had it booked through Carnival in 2014, but Carnival cancelled Blue Lagoon excursions that summer, and they were sold out on that day for direct bookings. So we booked it for the next opportunity we had... which was July 2020...
  23. Hope you had a good trip! How did it go with Larry's?
