  1. For a 3 course meal, an hour fifteen to thirty is about right. Sit at 6, order at 6:10, first course 6:15, 2nd course at 6:30, dessert at 7, out at 7:15. This would be the fastest. I remember 1 cruise we went on, for early dining, the table across from us always managed to have all 3 courses and out by 6:30. Not sure how they managed to get such quick service, and not sure where they were constantly rushing off too, either.
  2. The military rate is usually not the best offer available. When you do a mock booking, you can select to include the military rate and compare it to all the other rates available under your VIFP number.
  3. It is very odd, and about as useful as those paper self health screenings you used to have to fill out upon arrival. Others have posted that this is the case, in another thread.
  4. Pending availability, you can change your dining assignment by calling carnival (or travel agent if you have one). After boarding, you can ask the maitre d to change times, and they will accommodate if they can.
  5. This who have used SAS, what was your pick up time? We're hoping to check in at the port at 10am.
  6. Interesting. We have a snuba excursion as an option at Cozumel, but nowhere else on our W. Car. trip. We also have a S. Car. cruise booked with 4 ports, but no snuba on any of those.
  7. We haven't cruised with carnival since once per day service. Prior, sofa beds and pull downs were converted morning and evening so we'd have more room during the day. Not to mention use of the sofa itself. I'm going to ask for this on our upcoming cruise. Hopefully they can accommodate. While I could do a sofa myself, ithink the pull downs require a key and there's a notice not to do it ourselves. If the room is set up that I have to constantly duck to avoid hitting my head on the pull down I'll be very annoyed.
  8. We booked our first suite on the Horizon and would like to make the most of the priority check in and boarding. The plan is to reserve a shuttle service from our hotel to the port (party of 5 with about 8 bags, so no uber/lyft). Therefore, we need to know the earliest we would be allowed into the terminal so we can make our shuttle reservation. Thanks!
  9. Thanks. I have to confirm the earliest check in time for suite guests, but knowing to give them a pick up time one hour prior is helpful. Now to pick a FLL hotel with airport shuttle, walking distance restaurants for dinner, breakfast, and walking distance to Publix, etc. for wine. And bonus points for a good view!
  10. The hours are pretty generous but not 24 hours. I think it varies by ship, but they all have treadmills and other aerobic machines. They also have an outdoor jogging track that is 24/7, except when closed for high wind and bad weather. Some ships also have sky fitness which is outdoor equipment, I think open 24/7 except for weather.
  11. Hello, We are sailing on the Carnival Horizon out of Miami on Sat July 8, flying into FLL the day before. Our flight arrives around 2:30pm. It's our first time staying in a suite, and we would like to make maximum use of the priority arrival/boarding perk, which translates to punctual/reliable transport to the port. Easy/non-stress is also a priority. There are 5 of us, with about 8 bags, so Uber/Lyft isn't an option. So, should we: 1. Stay in a hotel near FLL with an airport shuttle, and book a shuttle/limo service for the trip from FLL to the port? With a Saturday morning departure, would traffic be an issue getting to the port as early as we'd like? 2. Stay in a hotel near the port, book a shuttle from FLL to the hotel, and either a hotel shuttle or private shuttle to the port? 3. Rent a car at FLL, return it that same day at a return location near the hotel, and then hotel or private shuttle to the port? 4. Is there a rental car company near the port that has a shuttle to the port? If so, then I could rent the car at FLL, and return it there. Returning home: Our flight departs FLL around 6pm. We're thinking of taking the cruise transport with an airboat everglades airboat tour. $294. Any better ideas on how to spend the day before our flight (including transport to FLL)? Quick google search shows the airboat ride is about $30pp, so Carnival is essentially charging $30pp for transport + convenience.
  12. We've often found that the pg shows were funnier than the adult shows. The pg shows require the comedian to rely on wit. While, in the adult shows, they often think they can rely on shock value + alcohol instead of actually being funny. That said, the best, top notch, shows were the R rated ones. The best comedy is that which takes uncomfortable topics and pokes at them. The result is not only laughter, but makes the subject matter less uncomfortable.... and less problematic in the future. Comedy can be a great tool to get past real problems. It can start real dialog. But, this takes a certain amount of maturity. My favorite examples: All in the Family and The Jeffersons. Sadly, modern political correctness is preventing such comedy from existing. Those two shows would never be made today.
  13. Another confusing aspect is if there is only 1 option for a location or deck, it skips that step, "choosing" it for you. But there's nothing on the page indicating the missing step. I get it's more streamlined this way (pick a deck any deck.... but you can only pick deck 2 is technically an extra click), but I prefer the clarity.
  14. Pride always had a late embarkation in Baltimore compared to other ports. This was due to the ship getting back later in the morning. I would assume legend does also.
  15. You also have the option of using carnivals hub app. That costs $5 per device.
  16. I think the easiest way would be for then to give the s&s cards to those with early stateroom access at check in in the terminal. Those with keys can get to their stateroom.
  17. So we booked connecting oceanview cabins on the glory. Wife and I in one, older kids in the other. We did it this way in case we would like to add cheers for us (oldest child is 21, and doesn't drink at all). Carnival website clearly says this is ok. I called TA to book. She said she would have to put me on hold and call carnival to book to make sure it's noted correctly that parents are in the connecting cabin. Bookings are made and we hang up. Today, a week later, I go to look at excursions and find the kids cabin is gone. I call my TA. TA sees it on their end, but checks the carnival system and sees it gone also. TA puts me on hold, calls carnival. When TA comes back I'm told it was canceled because the carnival csr who made the booking failed to notate it correctly. TA then said they were able to get the cabin back for me with a temporary hold. Temporary because the current rate was over $450 more and they would have to escalate it to get my rate back, and would call me back within a couple of hours. TA calls back about an hour later. They got my rate back, confirmed it was notated correctly, and I got an extra $50 obc for my troubles.
  18. For our 7 day cruise, the cheers rate added about $550 total, which was a savings of about $430.
  19. So I was able to book it. But the csr only gave me one option. Take it or leave it (even though there are a bunch of still empty connecting cabins, but they wouldn't override the set occupancy) I preferred deck 2 forward, and I got 2 mid, which is fine. Only downside is that we need a third cabin as well, and the closest they would give us to these 2 is 8 doors away. It's an adult only cabin so it's fine. I guess I could have called back and tried a different csr, but I didn't think it would be worth the effort.
  20. Suites do not come with the priority line perk.
  21. So, going through the booking engine, there are plenty of connecting cabins available. But, none are popping up for our exact combination of guests (2 and 3, specifically). Even with the number of cabins showing limited to 10, I still get plenty of potential options (and I'm guessing if I could see all availability, there would be more). Would a TA be able to override this? Carnival representative just by calling? Carnival PVP? Thanks! We plan on booking tomorrow!
  22. Well, we decided! We would really like to do the 8 day cruise and S. Caribbean, so we're booking the Horizon! But, we decided we can't let such a great price on the Glory pass us by, so we're booking that also! We figured with all those gift cards, and by next summer, it'll be 4 years since our previous cruise, we're due for 2 cruises anyway. Horizon to start the summer, and Glory to end it! WOO HOO!
