  1. That is not a change I will like. I really detest DJs. I guess I am getting old. Most DJs have the music too loud for conversations and a nice ambiance. I love the pianist in the Observation lounge. Not crazy about electric guitars. These types of music are what I have to put up with at the weddings of my kids friends. If they start piping in loud music poolside I will definitely not be booking Seabourn. I love sitting by the pool, reading a book, and listening to classical music on my headphones. Don’t want poolside music to effect that. I take a break from the pool even when the trio play outside.
  2. Well if you look for Molton Brown on Ebay there are tons offered there. It is not out of the question, though unlikely. It makes me nostalgic for the old Seabourn days where one of each was available for guests and you could take them home.
  3. Are you currently onboard? There has been no one from a very long roll call thread posting here, which is sort of unusual. I guess you are all too busy having fun.
  4. For all the posters who are holding Seabourn accountable for all the lapses I say Thank you. So many cheerleaders have basically declared you all as negative and you represent only a small hard to please contingent. Not so. I have a large circle of friends whom I have cruised with on Seabourn in the past. They have all cruised Seabourn this year, as separate couples and as a small group and all of them said there have been severe lapses in service, cuisine and attitude. The head office is ultimately responsible and I don’t think they care. The idea that staff would speak to a paying guest about wine in such a condescending manner never would have happened before on Seabourn. I have been taking a lot of land based luxury vacations this year including visiting fine dining and Michelin star restaurants and have not had any issues like the ones many are experiencing on Seabourn. Seabourn should get its act together. Thanks @calm down dearfor your reports
  5. i believe it. Part of me would be thankful if they bought it and cleaned house with the current executives who are shambolic. The shoreside staff are hopeless and based on talking with friends who just came off a cruise the shipboard staff can not do anything without asking permission from corporate. I saw a lot of lapses on my last cruise with them in 2021 and chalked it up to post covid. I have sailed with other cruiselines since then and have not seen these lapses on other lines. Hey, maybe the Saudis will get rid of the retreat and assign the staff to breakfast and lunch in the MDR so guests can avoid the Colonade scrum. Another part of me does not want to support Seabourn as it will be owned by a country (or state entity) whose political stance is controversial to say the least. I see cruiselines are now visiting Saudi Arabia but I will not be on those itineraries. Not to mention IIRC the liquor has to be taken out of your suites when in Saudi waters/territory. I could be wrong on this though as I may have been drinking when I read that and don’t really remember LOL.
  6. Athens to Istanbul. I think Santorini is beautiful. I have never been in July or August and do not intend to. Off season it is not overrun. There was one other ship in port that day and I took the bus over to Oia. It was spectacular.
  7. @notamermaidI was wondering what the papers/news outlets in Germany are saying about Christmas markets being cancelled or hours cut? I was thinking of doing some of the towns along the Rhine with a hop over to Strasbourg but want to be sure they will be up and running.
  8. The hosted tables can be a blessing or a curse. I have had some of the most amazing experiences and conversations at some (mostly Captain’s table) and some of the most boring with boorish tablemates and could not wait to leave with others.
  9. That is so funny as the first time my friends and their late teens/20 year olds sailed with Crystal they found that the first questions they were asked when chatting with people was how many times have you sailed with Crystal? When they said none, the next thing they were told was, “You will be Crystalized” and they were not. They thought Crystal was very cliquish and they prefer Seabourn. I love both and had two Crystal and one Seabourn last year and Crystal became ny furst love. My DH, who also loved Seabourn said our Crystal was the best he thought we ever had. Choice is good.
  10. Seabourn operations and customer service is a shadow of its former self. I think that the higher ups, who set the corporate tone, just do not care. I love the line, “Don’t believe social media”.
  11. The cruise fares should be cut commiserate with the product delivered. To be charging the per diems they charge the product is not being delivered. Seabourn corporate does not seem to care. If they did these problems would not be consistently reported.
  12. Sorry, my wording was awkward. Yes, days sailed on Crystal would equate to the same amount of days as if sailed on Seabourn. So Crystal cruisers would get Silver, Gold, Platinum or Diamond. I have to respectfully disagree with you as not earning a status on a cruise line and receiving a status match without earning it through sailings is having that status comped or perhaps a less offensive word is “gifted”. Personally, I miss Crystal and am looking forward to it coming back. Glad you enjoyed your past Seabourn cruise. Was it on the Quest or another ship? Always enjoy your posts.
  13. Please do post if you can. It is of value to people who are either booked on or thinking of booking the Quest. Enjoy your cruise.
  14. The poster was comped to Seabourn Diamond level, as were all Crystal guests that submitted information on their Crystal status. Also, poster openly admits to being a travel agent and is on deck 9 which is PH deck. All Seabourn passengers are equal but perhaps some are more equal then others. I am glad that that poster had a great time. I have also been on cruises that when speaking with others I cannot believe we were on the same cruise. Perceptions are reality. One poster perceived a satisfactory cruise the other did not. When I see more posters perceiving unsatisfactory experiences that is a problem for Seabourn.
  15. @Catlover54 I noticed you posted pictures of a generic type of swiss chocolate placed on the bed in the evening. Does this mean the wonderful Thomas Keller chocolates are no longer offered? They were last year when I was on. I very much enjoyed your posts. I also very much enjoyed DH’s photos.
  16. Cannot answer for NY but last time I boarded Seabourn last year I arrived 2.5 hours before boarding and was onboard in 10 minutes.
  17. Agree 100%. There should always be a Plan B. I have been on a number of cruises which had to do a complete change of ports, had way more sea days and they made lemonade from lemons, The itinerary planning and the expedition team and the entertainment department should have had a talk a long time ago about Plan B. Seabourn in the past had Plan Bs. I am getting the opinion that with examples of the Quest and a very negative experience my friends had on the Sojourn as well as examples of the Venture I don’t think Seabourn management care very much.
  18. @worcestergal I hope you and your DH are feeling ok and have mild cases of covid. Have you been released from quarantine? Seven sea days with “conversations” with the expedition team sounds a bit much for me. Am I correct in thinking that there are no other lecturers other then the expedition team? Has the weather allowed for at least a bit of sitting outside (with blankets)? Is the interactive TV the same as on the non expedition ships? Hopefully there a good selection of on demand movies if one wants.
  19. You cannot use the shipboard credit to pre book shore excursions. You must pay for prebooked shore excursions with a credit card and then proceed as @FlyingScotSailors mentioned above. Seabourn Square will refund your credit card and the payment for the shorex will be applied to your bill and all onboard credits come off at the end of the cruise.
  20. If Istanbul (Galata terminal) is not on the list I can presume that one can walk out of terminal and into town?
  21. And here I am thinking that it will be really cold on January 10, 2023 in the Greek Isles.
  22. IMHO these bottles are the worst to drink from. I see more people, including myself, getting more of the water on their clothes then in their mouth. Bring your own reusable, I do that now.
  23. Interesting as my friends were told they would be at the 1919 and then Seabourn said it was not using that hotel and there would be no passengers staying for the 9/18 cruise staying there. Guess they changed their mind on passengers staying there after the cruise. Forgot to mention they told me they also had to walk all their luggage, without help, two blocks to the bus. Guess the bus parked between the 1919 and their hotel so both those just getting off the Venture and those getting on have the same Seabourn Experience. 😉
  24. Trois Rivieres was probably the most boring port I have ever cruised to in all of N. America. That was 8 years ago and maybe it improved but its sad that due to the weather you have to stay there. It was probably a lot cheaper to stay there for 2 nights instead of 1 night there and 3 nights in QC which I love.
  25. Do you mean the 1919 Hotel? I have friends who are on now and we keep in touch via email. She said getting from the hotel (not the 1919 as they were told Seabourn doesn’t use that one) to the airport and then to the ship was a mess. They also said it was an uncomfortable flight, though relatively short.
