I’ve had this numerous times trying to book the Signature category for SUN & Star. As soon as the deposit doubles - I don’t book. I will be on a ship in 2 weeks and ask Future cruise person. I’d rather use a FCD then pay $500+ deposit
Princess states Crew Appreciation is discretionary.
It bothered me when I read on here that the gratuities were rolled into crew salaries fleetwide.
The cruiseline & crew agree to their contracts.
At this point I accept their choice.
It is much easier for me to pay $151 CAD pp/ 7 day Crew Appreciation online pre cruise and I feel I am being fair to all.
What I do does not affect any other passengers. What others do does not affect me.

This was not the case for me near Toronto. Credit card charged Thursday. Email it was shipped and it only had Express Post- could not track it. Label says Mississauga Ontario. Arrived this week.
So, I did not get anything except the Canada Expess Post. Got charged on credit card Thursday. Found email notification in my trash folder Sunday morning- saying it was shipped. Tuesday found Medallions in my mailbox. Only thing in label was from Mississauga ONtaruo.
Last HAL cruise I went on did as you said- card in mail slot outside the cabin- but It didn’t show up there until after lunch- so they would not let us order drinks on our package until they could see the card. Also, made me uncomfortable knowing anyone could help themselves and go into my cabin before I got there. I prefer Princess way.
Both times we arrived around noon, after hotel check out. There were long lines and walking to get there earlier. We got through quite quickly by going at noon. In time for MDR lunch.

HAL cancelled my excursion after I boarded and kept my money. They would not let me use it for anything other then excursions and all were sold out for the last port.
Need to know:
1) Did you use ANY OBC to book any excursions?
2) Do you want to cancel one excursion for 2 passengers in same Booking?
3) Were there terms stated that this excursion had cancellation restrictions?
Some excursions through Princess like private vehicle will not be refundable and it clearly states it.
But,
I have gone into the Personalizer and cancelled excursions and refund has always been to my credit card within a few days.
There is usually terms stated that you can cancel up to a certain date.
One time I phoned agent suggested OBC and I firmly said No, refund to credit card.
