  1. I've only been in angled balconies on NCL. I like the unobstructed view to the front of the ship as you're sailing. it's also 50% bigger than a regular balcony. For those that have sailed in both S-class and on NCL, how's the forward facing angled balconies on both? Comparable? What are the differences, if any?
  2. thx but thats in the Solarium. you don't need spa pass/Aquaclass to get access to it.
  3. On Ncl, there's a pool in the spa. I got aquaclass on the Apex and was disappointed there was no pool. (Still loved Blu) Does the M or S class ships have a pool in the spa?
  4. (sea day) They have a solo gathering listed but this time is in the cellar masters on deck 5. Will update on how it is.
  5. 2022 (a few years after dry dock): I was aboard the Summit a couple of months after last dry dock (before Covid). There was already rust showing on my balcony. 😮 Apparently, they just painted over the rust during that drydock and it was now showing through the paint. Hopefully next drydock, they'll scrape off the rust (ie: wire brush) before painting.
  6. I'm currently on the summit. In the past, solo gatherings were listed on the daily for the day after embarkation at the Martini lounge at a certain time. It was an awkward and frustrating experience. Unlike ncl, it's not lead by anyone from Celebrity. You're on your own to figure out who's there for the solo gathering and who's there to drink. On my current cruise, it was held in the Sky Lounge on Day2. It was at the same time as an another event there but the person doing the event was also the solo coordinator. He designated a place (back of the room in a corner) for us and made several announcements. He asked we say our names and where we're from then he went to host his other activity. Then we started taking among ourselves. This was much better! At least we didn't have to fumble around trying to figure out who was a solo. Hope this continues for sea days. (Tomorrow is a port day so nothing listed for solos)
  7. found it: https://www.nclhltd.com/investors scroll down
  8. cant find direct link via google. not going to download from unknown sites. thx
  9. https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/cruise-ship-strikes-fishing-boat-near-nantucket/2794495 The Gabby G, however, reported some damages to the bow and was towed to New Bedford, arriving around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the cruise line spokesperson and Coast Guard officials said. An NBC10 Boston and NECN employee who is on board the Norwegian Pearl said the fishing vessel struck just below his cabin. "There was a huge thump that woke us and then the shipped rolled drastically in a couple of directions," Jim Warner wrote in an email to the station. "The fog was incredibly thick and visibility was 0. It happened at 1:30am and we were under way again by 4:30am." So similar situation with cruise ship striking a truck sized iceberg... 0 visibility
  10. you can buy geoblue directly from their site and cut out the middle man
  11. why did you pick img for trip interruption over all those other plans out there? (ie: Allianz)
  12. Saw this on facebook. +$49/day per person :o If you want streaming wifi, it's +$10/day additional
  13. Is GeoBlue primary or secondary? Nationwide is $79/yr for medical only ($250k evac) but it's secondary.
  14. Pre-pandemic, it was $100/yr and $50 deductible for Medivac only. In Aug 2021, my policy was $120/yr and $200 deductible. Now, for Aug 2022 renewal, it's $151/yr and $200 deducible. Any other Medivac only yearly insurance?
  15. I will be in Reykjavik in Aug on Celebrity and will be staying a few days. https://justbooktransfers.com/en is quoting $64 USD from Skarfabakki cruise pier to Loft Hostel. it's only 3 miles! Any cheaper options? Thx
  16. yes. thought i could watch the ship go through the locks from shoreside instead of the ship. (already been through 2 full transits). ie: a different view how safe is colon, panama for 3rd party shore excursions from locals at the pier?
  17. https://www.cruisehive.com/rockslide-damages-popular-cruise-ship-dock-in-alaska/74972 A rockslide at the historic White Pass Railroad Dock in Skagway, Alaska, damaged the dock and caused minor damage to Discovery Princess.
  18. Did ncl ever say how bad the damage was to the Escape? heck, did they even acknowledge that there was a big long gash in her hull?
  19. interesting. thought whenever a ship docks at colon, panama it's a partial transit. she goes in and goes back out the same way. and while in colon, you can see the ship do the transit? also, it's listed under ncl's "Panama Canal Cruises"
  20. Lidar or go home (i actually have no idea what it is. Just heard about because Tesla self-driving, or lack thereof)
  21. a few years ago, a big cargo container ship ran into a Navy destroyer and made a big dent in it's armored hull. And 3 sailors on the destroyer died 😞 so apparently unlimited funding wasn't enough :o
  22. Link to grommet iceberg hitting ncl sun: https://twitter.com/i/status/1541764170772844545 Waiting to hear what damage to the ship.
  23. Back in 2015 when i first visted, i went on a cruise tour and walked the ocean floor at Hopewell Rocks. i thought it was neat. i dont remember the bus ride being 2 1/2 hrs though? Google pic:
  24. My cruise ship isn't leaving till midnight. (Sept 2022) Recommend a place to sit and watch the reversing of the tides. Also, at what time does the reversal usually happen? And how far is it from the cruise port?
  25. hm.. i think either the buffet or spa cafe has instant coffee. so that electric kettle could work for me
