  1. a gigabit switch is 1gig speed per port on the switch. so to overwhelm it, your internet speeds have to be over 1g/bits per sec. i noticed a cisco device in my m-class cabin. i'm going to assume it can handle 10megabits/sec. You only need 1megabit/sec for 480p youtube videos
  2. at least with blue chip sapphire and above, we get $100 obc each cruise for no longer having access to the Retreat lounge. (Sapphire = $100k through the slots) I prefer the lounge in E-class over the $100. it's worth more than $100 to me.
  3. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/08/30/royal-caribbean-partners-with-spacexs-starlink-for-onboard-internet.html The partnership is an effort to combat historically bad internet connectivity when cruise ships are at sea. The technology will be deployed across all Royal Caribbean-owned cruises beginning immediately, with installation scheduled to be completed early next year. I don't know if NCL will follow because Royal offers unlimited internet as a perk. NCL's perk is 150min per person. What % of pax in a cruise trade that in to buy unlimited? On the other hand, if NCL upgrades to Starlink, then maybe more people will spend the $ to upgrade to unlimited?
  4. It seems like there's only ONE person answering calls for existing reservations and everyone else is assigned to book new reservations. When's the best time to call for changes or even info on existing reservations?
  5. Male, age51, solo I usually get Geoblue Trekker medical-only annual insurance for medical/medivac emergencies. Before Covid, it was $100/yr. Now it's $150/yr. Allianz is $138/yr. ($20k medical/$100k medivac) You can buy GeoBlue through Insuremytrip.com at no markup so you get your own insurance agent working on your behalf. I think you have to buy Allianz directly. (https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com/travel/annual) If you bought an annual medical only plan, which did you buy? Why that company/
  6. HO/HO is cheaper from Celebrity than HOHO's website?! i would have never imagined Celebrity being cheaper than buying directly from the vendor 😮
  7. With the time saved in no longer have to do towel animals, how many additional cabins are assigned to each steward?
  8. If there's a Hop on/off bus excursion, is it exclusively for people on the ship? or are we just given a ticket and told the nearest location where to board it? (in which case buying directly from their website should be cheaper?)
  9. Jack is not included in the bottom level casino drink card
  10. Resellers (ie: Viator) usually add a booking fee. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to tell if a site is provider or a reseller. :( Note: For my Golden Circle tour, Bus Travel Iceland was not only the cheapest out of the 6 sites I checked, it also added the extinct Kevid volcano crater lake as the 4th location for free. (All other sites had 3 sightseeing locations for the basic Golden Circle tour.)
  11. For breakfast, my hostel has a slightly better than continental buffet breakfast for 1850 isk. ($1 usd is 140 isk so $13) The breakfast consists of ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs, pastries, bread, peanut butter, Nutella, cereal. Also, oj/apple juice/coffee. For lunch I went to the lamb hot dog stand (600 isk/$4.25 USD). (Extremely busy! Who knew Icelanders love hot dogs from this stand :o ) Recommend some bang for the buck places and what foods.
  12. when i was there, 3 ships with 2 anchored. The restaurant I went to for lunch opens at 11:30am according to google. I got there are 11:20 and they were allowing people in. at 11:45 they were completely full. there were only 2 waitresses and 1 cook for like 20 tables! they didnt expect so many people (weekday) nor did they know 3 ships were coming today. fortunately, most of us were waiting for our 1pm 3rd party tour and ordered beer, soup, and/or a burger. When I left, there was a 3rd waitress.
  13. M&M's? thought it was Reeces pieces? ok, could be m&m chocolate. (definitely not peanuts since it's too thin)
  14. And some casino drink card level alcohol don't match up with the drink packages. I'm ultra so not worried about that. But thought it was interesting
  15. they scoop ice-cream in either a bowl or cone. i've never seen an ice cream bar offered there?
  16. I had $35 obc left over so i figured i'd buy candy for some crewmembers. peanut butter cups: $5 rest of the candy in that row: $4 or $5 Pringles $8 😮
  17. dont know what you mean? azuma is a luxury cruise line compared to celebrity + princess
  18. I'm in Ísafjörður today on celebrity summit. Island princess is also here. We are both tendering in the harbor. Then comes little Azuma strutting pass us into port and docking!
  19. i cant call right now. i'm currently on a cruise in europe and ship's satellite wifi isnt stable enough to make a phone call back USA to blue Chip 😞
  20. i booked a free cruise solo thru fcv and was charged $20/day cruise fare. 😞 Anyway to get this fee removed? Can someone in Blue chip remove it?
