  1. I don't know about that. We have done 3500 mile road trips the last 3 years and none of them cost over $1800. The last one was a 14 day trip to the Grand Canyon, Zion, Petrified Forest, Painted Desert, Bryce Canyon, and Mesa Verde. We tent camped several times and stayed in cheaper hotels. Most were decent. My last cruise, last May, was a 6 night Western that ran $1000@ including 5 hotels to and from port, gas, and parking. I'm not cheap. I'm Frugal.😁
  2. It is 2 or 3 blocks once you get out of the port maze. You walk back to port from the pick up area.
  3. Coz is an easy place to grab a cab and DIY. Check out www.cozumelmycozumel.com and www.cozumelinsider.com. Lots of good info covering beaches and restaurants. Even have some coupons. We have visited Coz 13 times and Chankanaab Park is the only place that we have been to multiple times. The best food that we have had was at Casa Denis in downtown San Miguel. You could eat inside or al fresco.
  4. We were pleased with the Native Choice Chocchoben Ruins Tour. Very professional and much cheaper than the ship tour. Costa Maya is pretty safe from what I have seen and we have been there 5 or 6 times.
  5. Be aware that Galveston has a Mardi Gras celebration in February. I think that it is the 2nd this year. The town gets pretty crowded then and hotel prices go through the roof.
  6. I will let you know in February. This was too cheap to pass up. We have done a guaranteed inside once before and had no problem. I did learn to always sail with earplugs when we booked a cabin under the Main Dining Room. They moved tables and chairs at 2:00 A.M. We had friends who booked guaranteed and was in the very bow of the ship. Guess what it sounded like when they dropped anchor in Belize.🤣
  7. Yep, we used them last May. They do a great job for half price.
  8. We had MT on the Voyager back in May. Had the same table at the same time every night. Looking forward to a repeat in January.
  9. I just booked the Voyager OS today for 1/27/24 on an online TA. Picked My Time on the website. It might be different on the larger ships. Dining times were 5:30, 8:00 and MT.
  10. To get real deals in town you need to go a few blocks away from the tourist area. Great little stores with decent prices. It helps if you can speak a little Spanish, but they will work with you. Check out these websites for plenty of info: cozumelinsider.com and cozumelmycozumel.com. Have fun.
  11. Walk out front and grab a cab. If you were going on the other side of the island I would suggest a male escort, but a trip to Chank is easy and safe. If you have doubts just find other cruisers headed there and share a taxi van. Have a great trip. P.S. Our daughters said that the massages are great.
  12. Great! We are booked for April 2025. We have sailed 21 times on four different lines but she will be our first Celebrity cruise.
  13. You might check cozumelmycozumel.com and cozumelinsider.com. They have gobs of info and coupons to some of the beach clubs. It is usually 20% to 30% cheaper to book direct. Cozumel is very easy to do on your own. There are a few ports where we will use ship tours. Jamaica and Belize come to mind, but Coz is no problem.
  14. We love to dine with strangers and have met some very interesting people. One was a homicide detective from Detroit. He had some interesting stories. Then there was a professional belly dancer who got married at the Dzibilchaltun Ruins near Progreso. Then there was a couple who looked familiar. It turned out that they had the Kettle Corn Concession at Silver Dollar City in Branson MO. They had sold us kettle corn a few months earlier.
  15. We did a couple of Eastern Caribbean cruises in January. The water in the pools and Bahamas was a little on the cool side. I would guess in the 70's. We had to get to Grand Turk before it was warm enough to suit us. Islands south of GT are perfect.
  16. We haven't done ruins in Belize, but we did Chacchoben with Native Choice in Costa Maya. I can highly recommend them. We had 11 people on the van with a guide and driver. Arrived 20 or 30 minutes before the large ship tours arrived. Had a good, informative tour with our guide explaining the history of the ruins and the Mayan people. Then stopped at a roadside stand on our way back to the ship and bought the best pineapple that we have ever had.
  17. We have used Machu Picchu Cruise Parking on Jackson St. several times. They have a gated, covered garage and have a shuttle service to and from the cruise port. Super nice people with good service, and affordable.
  18. Been to Belize several times. This is one port that begs for a tour. Not much in port unless you want to go outside the tourist village and get hounded by locals. You can book tours through locals at the port. We have done Bannister Island, cave tubing and Caye Caulker. Cave tubing is a blast and should be done at least once. Caye Caulker is gorgeous with nice beaches and good snorkeling. We did a tour with Star Tours that took us out to the reef to snorkel and then to a sand bar to swim and feed rays. Don't know if Star is still in business. It has been several years since we used them.
  19. 13 on Carnival, 5 on Royal Caribbean, 2 Norwegian, and 1 Princess. Celebrity is booked for 2025 and looking for another RC.
  20. We used Native Choice for the Ruins tour back in May. We had 13 people in the van counting our driver and guide. The van was comfortable with good air conditioning. Arrived at the ruins a 1/2 hour before the ship tours. Great guide, good tour and would not hesitate to book with them again. Can't help with the Lagoon tour. I knew that we would arrive in port late morning and wouldn't have time to do the lagoon, so we didn't book it.
  21. We have been to these ports twice and St Kitts is the only one that would get us off of the ship again. It is a neat island with beautiful sites. Antigua not so much.
  22. I like to eat local cuisine when possible. It helps the locals financially and I get to sample foods that I can't get at home. On our first trip to Progreso we ate at a restaurant on the malicon that was in front of the fish market. The only way that it would be fresher was to catch it yourself. There was a street vendor in Playa Del Carmen who sold Cochinita Pibil. Pork steamed in palm leaves with local spices. Fantastic!!
  23. Upper 70's in January. A little nippy for me, but I can handle it after the initial shock.
