  1. It may be Channin Bodden, a cousin of Victor I believe.
  2. No, not much to see. You need ironshore or coral to see fish and critters. We have shore snorkeled several different places on Cozumel. Playa Uvas, Playa Corona, the Money Bar area are decent, but our favorite is Chankanaab.
  3. I saw on Tripadvisor that it is $9 from downtown to Chank.
  4. You have to wait 14-16 days before your cruise before you can print your boarding pass. Everything else is available before that. 16 days for Platinum and Diamond and 14 for the others. The color or Priority tags don't matter
  5. You might find one on cozumelmycozumel.com or cozumelinsider.com. They have some coupons but not sure if they are for PD.
  6. We have used Machu Picchu several times and have recommended it to friends who have used it too. Enclosed parking, shuttle service to and from port. Great service.
  7. We have only sailed on 4 RC ships but Serenade is my favorite so far. Love the layout, the Prominade view cabins, movie theater, water slides, and Ice rink. Oh, I almost forgot the hot tubes. Awesome!
  8. I enjoy seeing how other cultures live, but to tell the truth, it is the food. I love to sample the local cuisine.
  9. If I am ambulatory and still have money in the bank when I am 92, then yes, I will cruise.
  10. Costa Maya has 3 ruins tours with Chacchoben being the closest. It is about a 45 minute ride. Check out Native Choice. They are a lot cheaper than the ship tours and less crowded. Other options are private beach clubs with Maya Chan being our favorite. The port itself is not my cup of tea, but I have been known to hit Cinco Soles for vanilla and hot sauce. Chankanaab is the only place on Cozumel that we have been to 3 times. Something for everyone. You can grab a cab to and from. $23 to get in and you can get a $2 off coupon. They have dolphins and did have sea lion shows. Don't know now. Roatan is a port that cries for a tour when docking in Coxen Hole. It has great beaches (read crowded), shopping and animal sanctuaries, or you can book a private customized tour through locals. We use Victor Bodden but have seen great reviews for others.
  11. Not Galveston, but we sailed out of New Orleans the last of January. Arrived an hour before our designated 12:00 time and walked right onto the ship. Quickest ever.
  12. We had a pair of morning doves cruise from Mobile to Cozumel. I have picture somewhere. Too lazy to fly south, I guess.
  13. I want to be reincarnated as a cat. I love my naps.
  14. I hate that it happened, but these ships carry 2000-5000 passengers. It only stands to reason that there will be natural deaths once in a great while. None of us are promised tomorrow.
  15. It isn't as prevalent as it was 10-15 years ago, but it can be done in some ports. I usually look for wood carvings or black clay pottery. One trip to Cozumel a vendor had some nice carvings priced at $30 each. I got him down to $18 but he wanted a $2 tip. When I said that put it back to $20 he said, "Senor, this is how I make my living". I bought 3 pieces off of him. In another port I haggled with a vendor trying to get him down on a Panama hat. We left for our beach club and returned to the port 6 hours later. He was waiting for me at the gate and knocked $10 off the hat. Yeah, I'll haggle.
  16. We have booked 21 cruises for ourselves and 3 or 4 for friends. Some went through the Cruise Line's websites and most went through online TA's. I did use a PVP for our next cruise because our daughters as going with us and I wanted connected cabins and dining. So far everything has gone smoothly.
  17. Back in 2002 my sweet little wife commented that she had never seen the ocean. After a little research I crunched the numbers and booked a 5-night cruise on the Carnival Celebration. out of Galveston. The ship had mechanical problems so we missed our stop in Calica and limped our way back to Galveston. We did get our stop in Cozumel and had a ball. On the way home some cruisers commented that they should change the name of the ship to the Vibration. When I asked if that wasn't the norm they laughed and said that most cruises were a lot smoother. We just finished our 20th cruise last month and have number 21 booked for May. Yeah, we're hooked.
  18. We were on the Valor last month. Arrived at 11:00, was on the ship by 11:30 and the cabin was not ready. Luggage arrived at 4:00. Easiest Boarding and Debark that we have had in 20 cruises.
  19. We have done Cemetery Beach, Smith Cove, Eden Rock and a reef close to the Stingray Bar. Eden Rock was the best. There is a sunken ship, The Kittiwake, that is a cool snorkel but you have to take a tour. Next trip we will try Cheeseburger Reef on 7-Mile. It is right in town. Google best snorkel spots in Grand Caymen.
  20. We did the Valor last month and had anytime dining. With the new app you can click that you are ready to dine and they will notify you when your table is ready. We found it best not to dine as soon as the dining room opened. We went early one time and had to wait at least 30 minutes for a table and another 30 before they took our orders. It was Chaos! It got better as we adjusted our time.
  21. We have done cruises on 4 different lines. This is just my take. Others may have different ideas. Carnival is a lot of bang for your bucks. I usually find my lowest fares with them. We are Platinum, but just because I'm, uh, cheap. I have never gone to bed hungry. My favorite ships are Royal Caribbean. Like the layouts, especially the Radiance class with the hot tubs hanging on the side, and the Promenade view cabins. One cruise on the Serenade of the Seas we played pool on a table that stayed level with the ship's movement. Food is about the same as Carnival. General services are similar on both lines, but the very best entertainment that I've seen was on the Norwegian Jewel many moons ago. I can always find something interesting on any line, but the entertainment on the Jewel wowed me. May have to book another NCL just to see if it is still good.
  22. I don't know about a swiss knife, but I have taken small lockbacks on most of my cruises with no problems. I have it in my shaving kit. One time a lady saw it on the x-ray and was told to let it go because it was small. I don't, however, take it off of the ship when in a port of call.
