  1. I will have to look into the train to get there. Looks like would have to travel the day before, so an extra hotel night. Thanks for the idea
  2. We would take it. Live 30 minutes from Baltimore port. Easy, get up, have breakfast, finish packing, easy quick drive to port. Add 4 hour drive to that and it makes it a LOT different. And, we are booked on the April 15 TA, so will have to change flights to Norfolk, getting in late in the evening, so another hotel before the 4+ hour drive home
  3. I suspect that someday, not too far away, there will be some changed to the loyalty program. Crazy that every level is lifetime. Crazy that I can start living with someone and be D+ on my first cruise and be D+ for the rest of my life. Crazy that someone can make P in low cost interiors spending a fraction of what a D paid for in suite fares. Interesting, taking my first Carnival cruise (due to friend and a KILLER deal). It seems they are about to announce changes to their loyalty program. It may require that you sail every so often to maintain status. Funny, other changes will make it similar to RCI program (like drink vouchers). But it seems their levels are easier to meet so at times have had over half the ship be the top two levels. Their Diamond (highest) is only 200 nights. Platinum (second highest) starts at 75.
  4. FYI, bring EXTRA of your daily meds. Sometimes you may be out longer than expected.
  5. Actually I have met a lot of people on board that flew into Baltimore just to cruise. Mainly from upper mid-west. Not much difference flying to Baltimore or other ports.
  6. I know the numbers, but doing under each, it seems that the Key Bridge had a lot less clearance. Some optical illusion
  7. Name change can be handled by having a "bridging document" So DL in maiden name with marriage certificate will work. But easier to make booking in the same name as your IDs
  8. Not sure of the why the deal, but she doesn't gamble that much. And no, not complimentary. Interior $5 per person. Balcony $699 per person. OS Suite $500 per person. I don't recall the price for a ocean view.
  9. A lot of the issue is that a lot of people drive to Baltimore. So now they have to drive a lot further. Or be bussed. The good news is, the ship normally has to sail from Baltimore down the bay, so that is a good bit of time to allow the ship to leave later and have people fly/drive into Baltimore and be bussed. We are on the April 15 Balt - Barcelona. A REAL pain to have to get to Norfolk to depart and then get back there to get a car left there.
  10. Her son got the same offer. Strange thing was, a balcony was $699 per person but an OS Suite (seems to be mid level) was only $500 per person, but with $200 OBC per cabin. And in case you are wondering, we DID book it. DUH. 😄 A suite not an interior.
  11. They are working on that. "According to one of SPT's executives, the company's plans for redevelopment include transforming the site into "one of the largest ports on the East Coast". In September, 2018, Amazon opened a fulfillment center on the property as part of the Tradepoint Atlantic industrial complex. In 2020 it opened a second fulfillment center next door."
  12. Hmm. Sounds a lot like the Royal Loyalty program
  13. That is nothing. A friend got an offer for Baltimore to Barcelona trans-Atlantic. An interior was five. FIVE DOLLARS per person. For a 12 night cruis
  14. FYI, it you take your passport, carry it separately from your money. They want your cash passports are less value due to the chip and facial recognition. Hard for someone else to use one
  15. Have you ridden Amtrak? Trains are close to full. Not going to absorb 3000 people plus luggage.
  16. I had to do so in December. It was a bottle of bath salts
  17. MAY. Not guaranteed. but likely. do you feel lucky?
  18. Except you may have to do to Deck 1 to collect your bag. After you wait a long time expecting it to be delivered
  19. How is Vision WJ better? I find it much worse as everyone has to be up and back and up and back along the sides for hot food. On Grandeur, the hot food is in the center and the sides are salads and such. So much less traffic. I am 7 on GR and 2 on VI. 1 on EN and did not particularly like that ship
  20. One in EN, 5 on GR and 2 on VI. Prefer GR and VI, but overall love this class of ship. I want to be on a ship, not a floating mall/amusement park. The WJ on Vision is a bit weird layout. I prefer the one on Grandeur. But had great cruises on all of them. The only food complaint has been that the dish is not what they called it. Spicy tomato soup with some crushed corn chips is NOT tortilla soup. 😄
