  1. That's good to know Princess covered the cost of antivirals as I see that they are charging the Americans $700 for antivirals.
  2. We were on Quantum of the Seas last week and spoke to a woman in the lift who said her husband had tested positive to Covid. He was moved to a cabin on Deck 3. She stayed in her cabin and was allowed to move around the ship.
  3. I understand that but not sure about the insurance companies. Some will not increase the premium to cover you for these and others will add a fair amount to the premium.
  4. We paid about $400 for 9night cruise and that was medical cover only but with a few other pre existing conditions.
  5. We have recently got insurance for a domestic cruise through Insure and Go. My husband is 75+ had kidney cancer 2008. I am under 75 with two melanomas, 2009 and 2018. However a friend who had breast cancer a couple of years ago did not get past start with Insure and Go but can't remember who she eventually got it through. Good luck. .
  6. My husband always asks for a blanket as he finds the doona too hot. It was much worse when they went through a period of only having a doona with no top sheet .We always asked for top sheet. At least they have come to their senses in that regard.
  7. Interesting! As long as we can board. Hope all the angst will be worth it.
  8. What date is your cruise? We are on 9th November and have not received that email only the previously mentioned request to confirm vaccination status.
  9. In the press I have seen mentioned Boomers Travel Insurance who have no age restrictions on Domestic, Comprehensive and Non Medical only policies. I don't know anything about them but might be worth a look.
  10. Just reading the PDS for their Cruise Travel Insurance dated 8/6/22 it says "covers anyone aged 79 years or under at date of applying for insurance" and "maximum age limit for all policies is 79 years". The latter seems to contradict their statement that they provide cover up to 100years.
  11. Very frustrating. They do state that they insure up to 100 and I guess they do but a bit misleading and forcing you to phone is not good. Maybe they think over 80's are not capable of doing it on line!
  12. You are correct. What I should have said that even applying for cover of some medical conditions that others automatically cover and then some not automatically covered the excess is much lower with Insure and Go.
  13. We will be in that situation next year when hubby turns 80. Will have to hurry and book things before he reaches that but then one the other day, not sure if it was Insure and Go, wouldn't insure more than 120 days before trip if over 80. Certainly is minefield.
  14. Are you sure this covers cruising. When I read the Target Market for Annual Multi Trip Insurance for 70+ it states this is suitable for " those who do not wish to pay additional premium for the cover to apply to travel by river or ocean cruising", unless there is somewhere else in the application process to apply for cruise cover.
  15. Whether you take out medical only cover depends on how much you are prepared to lose if you have to cancel and how likely it might be that you may need to cancel. We have done this a couple of times for local cruises where we could lose a couple of thousand. Have a look at Insure and Go. I have found that their extra premium for existing medical conditions, not automatically covered, is quite reasonable.
  16. A Current Affair on Fri night showed a couple from the Gold Coast in a similar situation waiting for their teenage children to get passports to go to Fiji for their wedding. They fronted up to the passport office in Brisbane and after some discussion told staff that a crew from A Current Affair was waiting downstairs. They were then told to wait for ab bit and suddenly the passports materialised. Not sure how that was possible. Fingers crossed that the passport for your granddaughter will arrive in time. Very stressful.
  17. I received a system generated email with those offers, not from my cruise planner, who I have not used as yet and I am still seeing those cheap fares when I logged in a short time ago.
  18. Still showing $1399 for 14 night NZ cruise when logged in just now and is AUD
  19. They also have 14 day Brisbane to New Zealand $1399 for standard inside sailing 2nd Jan 2023.
  20. Not the ideal way to end a cruise and normally would not do that but were keen to give Emirates a try, very disappointing, prior to a flight to Europe later in the year.
  21. Thanks for your replies. Will wait and see what ensues, all a learning curve for her. Have noticed occasionally that they are charging less for you to select your own room.
  22. In 2014 we did a cruise from Brisbane on Sea Princess that went to Fiji, Noumea and Vanuatu. In 2015 we did a cruise to New Zealand on Diamond that called into Hobart. It was one way to Auckland and they did several of that itinerary that year,
  23. My daughter has booked a balcony x 2 on Quantum from Brisbane 7th December and chose to let them assign the rooms but is requesting inter connecting rooms. They are saying she will have to pay extra for this but as yet haven't said how much. Is this normal? If you do the booking yourself the price doesn't seem to change for interconnecting rooms.
  24. Unfortunately on the long cruise we were on it was a bit of a lottery with first show times anywhere between 6 and 8pm.
