  1. Do they provide any cover for Covid, cancellation or treatment on board?
  2. Some of those falls on a daily basis may be insignificant but even 1mm will wet you if out in it. Was still the wettest July in more than 20years with low lying ares around Swan River flooded and some precipitation on all but three days.
  3. Have found that credit card insurance cover is very hard to get for anything other than the covered pre existing conditions. There are several other posts on this forum re travel insurance. See "Reliable Travel Insurance" from May this year for suggestions. It is a minefield with some wanting to know about anything that has been treated in past three years and some only six months. Good luck.
  4. I was in Perth from 3rd July to 1st August 2021. In that time there was three days with no rain. ABC reported on 21st July that in the first twenty days of August Perth had recorded its wetteest July in more than two decades with more to come and five cold fronts ie wind and rain in one week. The Swan river was running a banker,a tropical downpour one afternoon with a "river" down the middle of the mall in town, and one night at the caravan park I was in a large limb came off a gum tree onto a caravan site, luckily had been vacated that day, and I struggled with wind and rain a lot of days travelling to the hospital. Unlucky to be there at that time.
  5. That's interesting, as Qantas has previously assigned us separated sets when on the same booking for unknown reason though fixed on request at check in.
  6. Has anyone tried booking aisle and window seats in the hope no one will book the middle seat? A few years ago paid extra to select our seats , middle and aisle, on flight Auckland to Buenos Aires. A very much younger person was in window seat and we were asked by flight attendant if we would swap. We declined and she was then moved to middle section into three vacant seats. We then had the spare seat beside us.
  7. Live near Brisbane. Used to think I could live in Perth until we had to spend July there in 2021 while my husband was in hospital. Rained for 26 days that month plus very windy so that ended my thoughts of living there.
  8. We used NRMA insurance earlier in the year and they automatically provided a letter stating that we were covered for medical expenses, repatriation and Covid .
  9. Yes and they then did a PNG cruise out of Cairns
  10. P&O have been doing some PNG cruises out of Cairns in winter. They also have one from Brisbane in August and October.
  11. AS Coral princess has been operating in Australia for the last six months or so you would get a more accurate answer if you asked this question in the Australia and New Zealand Cruisers forum.
  12. When we were in Vancouver we enjoyed a trip on cute ferries to Granville Island and markets where they have marvellous displays of fruit. Also enjoyed Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and Grouse Mountain. Both are easily reached by free shutlles from the city or public transport. At Grouse Mountain you can see grizzly bears, interesting to watch and I think we also saw a lumberjack show there. You will thoroughly enjoy it. We were there in May and were wearing summer clothing in Ketchikan and they will have sales of their winter clothing. We also did a Princess land tour from Anchorage to McKinlay and Denali also very worthwhile.
  13. There was high winds that day and they also had some problems with the gangway which may have contributed to the problem.
  14. You were lucky then. We heard from a friend who works at BICT that four suitcases went into the river that day and only three were retrieved. Didn't seem to make the news though.
  15. Insure and Go covered a 79 year old for a cruise to Tasmania last November. Can't remember whether they would cover us or not when 80 for South Pacific cruise or premiums were too high.
  16. Also limited cruises in Australia over our winter months if looking at that time, except for some small cruise ships.
  17. We are one 80year old and one under, both with pre-existing. We have recently used NRMA, but Allianz will also cover you with competitive pricing and also Qantas. I found Aust Seniors to be more expensive than others and loading for pre-existing can vary somewhat between different companies for the same conditions. You could also try Insure and Go. Unfortunately once you hit eighty it is expensive.
  18. We did a cruise to Vanuatu and New Caledonia in January and February from Brisbane. One was on Luminosa when we were asked about insurance and one was on Quantum of the Seas and we were not asked about insurance. Neighbour who works at BICT says check in staff supplied by different companies.
  19. No passport checks in Brisbane after two recent cruises to South Pacific. Told only incoming passenger cards needed. These were checked after one of the cruises and after the other they were collected and stuffed in a plastic bag.
  20. On our cruises on Royal, November and January, and Carnival two weeks ago, we asked room steward for paper copies and they were delivered nightly no problem.
