  1. We have mostly been inside cabin cruisers with the odd overview but the last three cruises we have had balcony cabins. We were on the Luminosa to the Sth Pacific in February. They are roomy enough to sit on comfortably but not real big. They are covered and sometimes balconies can be windy. We had a lot of noise from the partitions between balconies rattling in the wind which you couldn't hear inside but we should have complained as it made sitting outside unpleasant at times.
  2. You might get more response if you ask this on the Australia and New Zealand Cruise forum. It would also be helpful to nominate the ports and maybe the ship.
  3. I was told the same when I rebooked a cruise two weeks ago. I got a booking number after a couple of days but no proper confirmation email. I can see an assigned cabin when I go to cruise personaliser so trust all is ok but doesn't inspire you with a lot of confidence.
  4. ANZ credit card insurance will not cover our pre-existing conditions but did say would be able to claim for other things such as cancellation etc as long as not related to pre-existing conditions so just taking out medical only cover is an option or none if cover is only needed for covid.
  5. I ordered the standard one over the weekend and there was no charge for it then.
  6. Have a look at Medibank and AHM. Will do medical only for cruising and have got a quote for 80 year old but sometimes not much cheaper than comprehensive cover.
  7. Have a look at Qantas travel insurance. They will cover over 80 but as always need to read PDS.
  8. As Coral Princess has been operating in Australia for the past nine months or more, you will have more success asking on the Australia and New Zealand Cruisers forum. Am sure you would find some posted on there if you search.
  9. I have unfortunately endured a long haul flight with a snorer right behind me. Not a good sleeper at the best of times.
  10. Thank you for that information. It seems it may be advantageous to speak to a real person.
  11. Wondering what process you went through for them to determine all conditions "stable" as normally they are just straight "yes" or "no" answers and no further explanation.
  12. P&O AU have a 19night cruise in June next year from Fremantle ( Perth) to Sydney. Not quite around Australia but not bad. Of course not up to the standard of Princess and would end up in the south in middle of winter.
  13. Do you mean can't get cover for medical conditions not on list? I have been able to get a quote and approval for several pre existing conditions not on the list.
  14. You would need a lawyer to determine what they classify as "close contact" and "knowingly putting yourself in situation of unreasonable risk".
  15. We travel in a motorhome and often stay in free camps where they request a donation to help maintain facilities. These places will suffer greatly with lack of cash as people will still stay there without making any contributions.
  16. It was actually one of the big banks " which bank". Different nowadays. Makes it hard for oldies.
  17. My mother who passed away two years ago, just short of 100 still had a passbook account and cheque book which was used till her death. Staff at local branch would greet her by name when she attended.9 We also have a cheque book attached to an account which we use occasionally.
  18. Confirmed with Insure and Go no cover for over 80 on cruises plus you need to declare any medical conditions treated in past five years. As others have suggested, have a look at Qantas travel insurance as they will cover over eighty without an excessive premium, though will charge higher excess for medical claims related to pre existing conditions. Also you don't have to go back too far in medical history.
  19. Thank you for that information. We insured with them last year before my husband turned eighty but when I try to do an online quote now I get a message saying "First traveller must be under 80". Might have to give them a call.
  20. We paid similar to Bazzaw for a couple of Sth Pacific cruises earlier in the year with several pre existing each.Big mistake we made was not taking out an annual policy before my husband turned 80 in early January, didn't really think we'd be doing much cruising again but some FCD with Princess to use.
  21. That is interesting. Are you prepared to say who the insurance company is.
  22. I am in the same situation and find, as you said, some will charge a small additional cost and others a couple of hundred extra. Need to spend time shopping around.
  23. Not so handy if you want to do tour of Canadian Rockies before or after the cruise.
  24. If their flight left Sydney at 1pm, they should not have been at the terminal much behind time. Shpuld have been able to be processed quickly. There would be no other ship to go into that dock but would mean pilot would be late. We have done domestic cruises with medical only insurance so would not be covered in that situation. However with current problems in airline industry, and often dicey weather in Sydney, would not book travel on same day as departure.
