  1. I went from Platinum to Diamond on the last day of a cruise a few weeks ago. My documents all showed Diamond, but my card was platinum. On the last day of the cruise, at the "suggestion" of my DW, I went to guest services and they printed my Diamond card. Not sure how it is supposed to work, but I was treated diamond with a platinum card the entire cruise.
  2. We are Diamond and sailed from Galveston 6 times since last summer. We have 10 AM boarding time, and are generally in the "Carnival Corral" by that time, on board the ship around 11:15.. The nice lady who checks our passport in the terminal says the cabin will be ready for us when we board, but we know better than try to access the cabin before noon. We go muster, find a bite on the lido, a couple of Fun Ship specials, then head to the cabin to DROP OFF carry on stuff. We know the cabin is in process, so we put our stuff in an empty closet and sneak out. If the cabin key is in the mailbox, the cabin is ready. If not, it's Funship Special time (again). Our room Stewards have NEVER given us the stink-eye for dropping off carryons.
  3. I will turn Diamond on the last day of my upcoming cruise. Boarding pass and luggage tags all indicate Diamond. Waiting to see what color card I receive.
  4. Not sure which ship ? Some ships have the pasta restaurant open on embarkation for lunch.
  5. Must be a Platinum or Diamond, Smoker with the Cheers package.
  6. Try backing out of the Carnival website, then go back in. Next choice is try another computer.
  7. Sunset is earlier than early dining. You won't be able to see out the windows anyhow.
  8. Then shown on room TV the rest of the day. (Vista, Dream, 2022)
  9. Is the fitness center on Dream open to all passengers, without purchasing a spa package?
  10. Returned from the Dream today. I guess we struck a nerve with someone in Florida. I breakfast dined at "The Gathering" Lido every day for 8 days, No biscuits and gravy any day. I really wish they would bring them back in a new form.
  11. All these changes have yet to upset me. I'll eat Spam & eggs if that's what it takes to cruise. I have gone to bed many times without an ice cream snack. I've tried the tap water in the cabin, yummy. Need me to wash my own dishes? No Problem. Need me to take my turn rowing in the basement? Post the schedule. Put my toes in the sand, rum punch in my hand, under a palm tree would be grand. I get to watch the full moon rise, from my balcony, on Monday and Tuesday next week, for no extra charge. Let's all just cruise. Make the best of great situation. (No Shorts in the MDR after embarkation day, Please.)
  12. About the only way to make the bread discs (toast) edible is to put a healthy tablespoon of butter, then the "gravy". The "biscuits" are like the jars on top of the buffet line, Decoration. If you try to crumble them to soak up the "gravy", they turn to powder. I snicker to myself every time I see those biscuits on a ship sailing from Texas.
  13. Different Companies: Carnival = Bacardi & Pepsi, Ship Of The Seas = Capt. Morgan & Coke
  14. The major cruise lines are all affiliated with the CLIA, domino effect will play out before the end of the week. JMHO
  15. TABC always asks but I have never seen them search anyone. As for CBP, you get to go through because the cute little doggie didn't pee on your luggage
  16. Muster, Drop carry-ons, Lido Deli for a Grilled Reuben, Funship Special. A while back the Reubens were pre-made down in the dungeon, but their back to normal now.
  17. I was on a cruise ship 7 days before cruising shut down. I was on a ship a month after the re-start. I understand people got the cooties from the cruise ship. I also understand many more people did not. If you want to cruise, come on - let's go. If you want to wear a mask, feel free to join me. If you don't want to wear a mask, that's fine with me. If you feel uncomfortable cruising, don't. If you want to take your chance at cruising, please join us. The cruise lines are not setting these rules just for me or you. They are setting the rules to satisfy as many people as possible, including passengers, government officials in multiple states and/or countries, and especially shareholders. If you think it's all about the money, you are correct. Either they make a profit, or they sell out to the highest bidder. It's that simple. Take any precautions you believe necessary to keep your family safe, but you cannot control those who don't.
  18. Over the past 35 years, lots of things have been watered down. When we don't like it anymore, Some Ship of the Seas is the next terminal over, we're flexible.
  19. P/D abuser here. Not sorry, Not ashamed. Yes, we split two cabins between two couples. DW & I frequently drag another couple along for a cruise. I book cabin A, she books cabin B. Both of us are platinum, so both cabins generally get boarding A1, (Next after Suites). Sometime during embarkation day we do the Room card shuffle. Between our platinum and casino rates the other couple generally gets to sail for 30-40% off regular rates. Carnival has never seemed to mind, the other couple probably would not be there without the discount. We have never shared credit cards or luggage tags and never had a problem with luggage arriving on time. We stopped doing the P/D party about 20 cruises ago, as they schedule it just before our early dining. As for other perks, it is nice to have laundry done every other day on a 14 day cruise, one or two less suitcases to pack. If you want the same perks as those of us who began sailing on the original Mardi Gras, go get yourself a platinum card.
