  1. "As the CDC monitors the improving health landscape and works with airlines to support a smooth transition with the lifting of the pre-arrival testing requirement, we believe a review of pre-embarkation testing requirements for cruise travelers is also in order" I'm not sure how one could interpret that message a anything other than 'get rid of pre cruise testing" What ships are requiring masks? And if testing isn't lowering the passenger count, then that's even more of a reason to get rid of testing.
  2. The cruise line leaders are saying, via the CLIA, that it's time to end pre-cruise testing
  3. They threatened to call medical because my son had a headache. A headache because he doesn't drink anything all day on a cruise. We forced him to stay hydrated the next day and he had no issues the rest of the cruise.
  4. Seems doable, albeit making for a stressful day. If this was today you'd need to find a way to get another test, but by OCt 2023 if we still have testing we have much bigger problems
  5. They're pretty much back to normal. Just if your kid has a regular cold or any allergies, make sure they are medicated since the staff gets antsy for any symptoms of anything (not really their fault of course)
  6. When did they stop that? Last I had seen the quarantine period was reduced to 3 days, but it still was there.
  7. There's a lot of things I'd ignore, but having a payment due notice, even for $0, is not something I would just ignore.
  8. The fact CLIA, which RC is a part of, are seeking to end pre-cruise testing certainly isn't "crap"
  9. They aren't allowed to use it for non-stationary uses yet, so no reason to put it over the water.
  10. People are buying internet package at record rates. No way would they make internet free. Plus Starlink ain't cheap.
  11. Your check-in time doesn't at all project when you get on the ship, especially for the earlier slots.
  12. It also feels like about a 5 mile walk from the time you enter the terminal to the time you step on board.
  13. Vancouver was a free for all. There's a suites lane but once you get to that point you're lumped in with gen pop to actually board the ship
  14. Though the menu on the app is the projected menu. Sometimes you don't know what is off the menu (due to shortages) until you sit down at the table.
  15. I used it to look at menus and view my account. Other than that it's rather useless (for me at least) once on board.
  16. From a trip to Vancouver last week it seems no one ever looks at your ArriveCan directly. If you scan your passport at customs, this lets the system scan your ArriveCan and the printout you hand to border patrol will tell them what they need to know (ie, not vaccinated, go to the testing line). On disembarking the ship, I can only assume either they don't care about ArriveCan at that point, or RC provided the information via passport data and if you needed a test (in which only those who may have boarded with a vaccine exception would apply) they'd work that out prior to disembarkation.
  17. Unfortunately this is doesn't necessarily show how many people are being treated for covid vs. how many are being treated for something else and incidentally test positive for covid.
  18. I bet this is years before this happens, not due to technology, but due to governmental red tape
  19. There are many people that will still get VERY sick from lots of things that are on cruise ships that no one is concerned about
  20. That's not true at all anymore. My local paper (major US city) had an article recently about how the area hospitals are seeing more severe flu than they are covid.
  21. This definitely needs to go. Or even if you keep the quarantine, let it be in your own room (there have been reports some have been allowed to do this), not down in covid jail.
  22. D+ was allowed in the Concierge Lounge last week on Serenade. Granted the D+ couple we met in the lounge hit Pinnacle that week so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
