To be clear, I am not defending the way that P&O have handled the situation, or the dismal level of compensation. But some posters were insinuating that the issue was due to factors within P&O 's control, which is not the case.

But - down to more prosaic matters ! How do you wash your personal wine glasses each night ? Just a rinse in the cabin bathroom, or do you have a secret glass washing technique ? And what do you do during the course of the evening when switching to a different wine ?

So, you are saying that menus should be confirmed months in advance ! And then, if due to product shortages, staff issues etc, the menus are changed, no doubt you will come on here to complain !

That is a reasonable position apart from one big problem. P&O are not responsible for the construction of the ship. Shouldn't your comments, plus similar ones made by other posters, be directed at the German ship yard ? After all, it is their fault that the ship is late.

I feel desperately sorry for those who have lost their cruise. But, as has been said, Maiden cruises are always "high risk". P&O are not alone in cancelling a maiden cruise. And, God knows, I am not a P&O apologist, but P&O are not responsible for the construction falling behind schedule. In a situation such as this, what exactly is P&O meant to do ? I suppose they could have cancelled a few weeks earlier, but other than that they do not have many alternative options. I suppose a more generous compensation package would have softened the blow a little.

I don't think that is universal throughout the fleet. I certainly don't recall that menu on any European cruise.

Hank - can we join your table! We too don't eat before 20:00 ( we lived in Spain for many years, so even that, as you say, is early), we like to share a table, we like to take our time, and we enjoy wine. We actually normally carry a glass of wine into the MDR with us, so we can have a drink, while we decide what to drink with our meal ! And I admit to being totally bewildered as to why anyone would leave a warm, sunny deck in the Med or Caribbean at 17:00 to go and eat in the MDR.

I am an average guest, and the Princess Plus package more than pays for itself as far as I am concerned. My wife and I save about $500 each by having the package on a 14 day cruise. You should avoid making wild generalisations that have no basis in reality, not only about packages but also about how Princess are tracking my whereabouts, in order to sell my movements to some unidentified organisation !
