  1. Yes we do. Currently paying £100 pcm, but expecting that to double this winter.
  2. Blimey Zap, you must have an enormous number of electric fires on the go !
  3. The problem in the UK, is that if you were to test positive, and therefore cancel your cruise, some cruise companies will not give you a refund or FCC. You have to claim on your insurance policy, which requires an in person medically supervised test. Good luck trying to get one of those at short notice. And even then, other nembers of your party will in all probability not be covered. In those circumstances, given the likely financial losses involved, it is of no surprise that people will not test prior to boarding, or if they test positive, ignore the result.
  4. Avril, that seems exorbitant. Our monthly standing order is £35 per month, which will incease to just over £50 from November. That is for basically for the same appliances as you, but two freezers, and using a tumble dryer twice a week or so in the winter. However our hot water is gas heated, which could explain some of the differential, but it still seems a high figure.
  5. But even with pre-cruise testing, Covid was still rife on cruise ships. Stopping testing has made negligible difference. Plus, of course, the moment passengers go ashore, any pre cruuse testing becomes irrelevant.
  6. Given that the bar staff have no idea who is ordering what, I think that it more likely you were just lucky.
  7. And you shoukd ask your wife what the 10 day menu will be in three month's time as well !
  8. If that is your "evidence" , Good Luck !
  9. I bought my first cd player from Richer Sounds ( what a great company) in Aldershot, around 1990. If I remember, a Denon. And my first two CDs - Dire Straits and Mozart ( no idea why !).
  10. I think the issue is that you are looking at things purely from what happened to you in September. Time moves on, and so should you.
  11. Not sure you have any recourse. Masks can help, but are of limited assistance. What exactly did P&O do wrong, and can you prove that P&O actually caused you to get Covid ? Good luck, but from your previous posts, I think you are flogging a dead horse.
  12. I think the last few posts show that people do actually like dressing up, despite what others may say.
  13. I'm old school. I print off a copy of my investment portfolio. Then I tippex out or cover up irrelevant information, take a photo and send it as an attachment to an email requesting my obc. Never had a problem. As an aside - HL - stormy waters ahead, with the class action pending.
  14. Given the size of our balconies, it's just as well that we have no friends !
  15. I think Mrs W would be quite happy not to pay !
  16. But every little helps! Buying a bottle ashore saves about £20, so taking a few onboard saves a fair bit of money that can be put towards speciality dining.
  17. We still play the music, occasionally, via the iPod, but never the physical CD. In fact, most of the time if I fancy a bit of nostalgia (Wishbone Ash, anyone?) it's just easier to stream the track off the internet to the speakers.
  18. We were on Regal for two weeks this summer. First formal night, I wore a DJ, as did quite a few others. Then there was a DTI night. I wore a DJ again(a different one - just showing off !) . But I was very much in the minority. Second week, DJ again for the formal night, but for the DTI night I wore a dress shirt as opposed to a polo shirt/casual shirt. To be frank, I don't see the point of a DTI night and a formal night. The distinction between the two is so blurred as to be negligible. Just have two DTI nights, where people hopefully make a bit of an effort (although that might be a stretch for some I saw on our cruise !), I can still wear a DJ if I wish, and do away with formal night altogether.
  19. But surely the chefs and dining staff are not American, so why the need for a special night ?
  20. I'm confused. The OP is not unfit to travel, but has a new medical condition which requires tests. If he bought insurance prior to the aforementioned medical attention, surely he would be covered by his insurance policy. And, his insurance company could say that there would be no need to cancel his cruise, as he would still be covered. Or is that too easy ?
  21. Only on the two new ships. The rest of the fleet continue with two formal nights a week. As an aside, good to see a new dress code thread, with the same old arguments denigrating the formal dress code being wheeled out. It's taking me back to 2015, when I first posted, and the arguments are still the same.
  22. Fred did cancel some cruises due to poor sales. However, that is pretty unprecedented. Even sailing at 40% capacity is more profitable than not sailing at all.
  23. Lots to do in Lanzarote, apart from the Timanfaya National Park. However, if it is your first time on the island, that would be the tour to go on. Ask again on your second visit, and I will bore you silly with places to go. Which is why we will be back there yet again next month, for three weeks !
  24. I have about 200 CDs stashed away, which I transferred to an iPod (remember them) 10 years ago. No one wants them, even the local charity shops. No one has CD players anymore, and if anyone wants to listen to Evanescence, they can download it ! But, I just can't bring myself to throw them in the skip. I know they make good bird scarers, but anyone got any ideas what to do with them ?
