  1. No, you cannot swop OBC for cash. However, you can, I believe, "launder" obc through the casino - never done it, perhaps others will explain how it is done.
  2. Kettles are provided on ships sailing from Southampton, and also on some European cruises. In my experience they are not normally provided on US sailings, but no harm in asking the steward if he can find one. However, unless the Emerald has been in Europe you may be unlucky .
  3. You will get $250 for the Princess and Cunard cruises (assuming 14 day cruises) so even more of a no brainer !
  4. As long as you claim 14 days (iirc) prior to your cruise, you will be fine. So no problem in your situation.
  5. I think it really depends on the location of the ship. We have always been able to get a good signal on European cruises.
  6. Although your obc is in USD on these lines, which obviously helps.
  7. The Spanish F1 Grand Prix takes place on June 4th, and that will gave an impact on prices that weekend.
  8. As we have discussed already, proving you have Covid is, ironically, very difficult. But there are other aspects to consider. Say you saw your sister/brother/friend a week before your cruise. They then test positive for Covid. Theoretically you should declare this to P&O, and you and your travelling companions will not be allowed to cruise. P&O say that you should claim from your insurance company - for simplicity lets say Holiday Extras, because, after all, they are recommended by P&O. Unfortunately, HE say that as the UK government do not regard close contact to a Covid sufferer as a reason to deny travel, they will not pay out. So, you lose everything. No one in their right mind is going to admit to knowing anyone with covid, or, indeed having covid themselves, because to do so is to basically lose the entire cist of their holiday.
  9. That's a great routing, but I'm still waiting to find out about the direct non-stop flight to LA.
  10. Correct - but you need an adaptor, as you say. Adaptors are normally available on board from the cabin steward, for us Brits who cannot imagine why anyone would have an unearthed, unfused electrical appliance!
  11. So, in a nutshell, P&O have said that in virtually every case involving Covid, your first port of call (sic) should be your insurance company. And yet P&O 's insurance partner (Holiday Extras) have said, in writing, that they will not cover claims arising from P&O policies with regard to non embarkation, cruuse quarantine etc.! It really is an enormous cop out on both sides. You feel as if you want to put both of them into a closed room and not let them out until the matter is resolved. What annoys me the most is that P&O continues to promote an insurance broker that categorically says it will not cover anyone for P&O covid protocols.
  12. It will only work in flight mode, as it is not an app, merely a portal to the ship intranet .
  13. Jean's reply was taken from the UK government website. Seems P&O have nade their own rules!
  14. That is the problem. The beauty treatments, hair cutting etc are all carried out by independent operators, who pay P&O to operate on board. Hence, the hard sell for "extras", and why P&O can deny any responsibility. Sometimes passengers lose all sense of perspective, and pay three times more than they would ashore. And that is before the hard sell to buy overpriced cosmetics, hair gel etc.
  15. That is unsustainable in the long run. If you buy 100 shares at that price, two 14 day cruises on Princess will generate $500 obc, so the shares are virtually yours for free.
  16. Word association ! It is how card counters in casinos remember what cards have been dealt. They construct a story with each card becoming part of the narrative. Mind you, I can remember all the words of Bohemian Rhapsody, but forget why I have come into the kitchen ! The answer is normally beer, or is it wine?
  17. Strange that Princess require no tests for the European countries mentioned in the P&O list. Someone has got it wrong !
  18. And no tests requured for Denmark either ! P&O are just useless !
  19. To be fair, we have a communal electricity supply, so perhaps have a little more clout than an individual.
  20. Thank you. That would be sufficient for Staysure.
  21. As I said previously, Staysure want a copy of the positive test, which must have been carried out by a registered medical practitioner.
  22. Our new electricty tariff starts on December 1st. The new tariff is around 45% more than we are currently paying, and is fixed for three years. Personally, I think that is a pretty good deal. We may be overpaying by the 2025, but at least we will be able to afford to use our cooker this winter !
