I can only go with personal experience...Cruises (that I've been on) leaving New Orleans charge the tax until international waters (took several hours to get to that point) and I wasn't waiting to 'start my cruise' for a small amount. I've heard from friends that Galveston is another port that charges the tax. I don't remember getting charged tax on our cruise out of Miami. But that was 4 years ago, so maybe I just don't remember. Not sure if this info helps or not...

These points are the exact reasons we used to choose our TA. Shorter flight home once off ship (US). Going East to West therefore we are on port side of ship. And the opportunity to be able to have so many sea days at the end of the cruise!! We are also doing a TA in October from Rome to Port Canaveral. NCL Epic!! So excited....

I've did this for the February video/survey and nothing. Talked with customer service and as usually they were no help. I've now watched the March video and again taken picture of final screen saying 'thank you'. But we have now decided to venture away from Celebrity to Norwegian's Haven for a transatlantic. We priced both Celebrity Retreat and Norwegian's Haven with Norwegian offering more for a much better price. Sad to feel like we need to try another cruise line, but the prices and customer service is not what it used to be.

Makes me smile to read "found myself twirling and thought to myself, “who is this relaxed person twirling and swirling in a pool?”... You are definitely relaxing on this cruise. And laughing. I would want to have drinks with that grandpa/grandma. They sound delightful...

Glad you had a great first night. First - What happened at your school is UNACCEPTABLE. And I applaud you for stepping up and calling the idiot out. If he had done what he did to you to me, he wouldn't have walked out of that school on his own. He would have been 'helped' by local law enforcement. He is disgusting. I'm very sorry he actions have soured your feelings on a job that you obviously love. I hope this trip is a good reset and when you return, you find that love again. This right here. You need to yell it louder for the people in the back who aren't being the parents their kids need. Parents need to parent & remember that their kids are watching how they act as adults for guidance. It's not our job to raise their kids, but I will (& have) stepped up when kids have crossed the line (but in a respectful way).

I think part of the reason the staff of the Haven are so good to you guys is because of your attitudes. You come across as 'real' and down to earth. Not demanding or mean. Your smile says it all!! (Of course, I do think the staff of the Have does a very good job). Happy belated Birthday!!

Love ending my gambling this way!! I hit a hot video poker on my last night before and just couldn't walk away!! Until it was time to shower and get to Vegas airport. That was a long day. But so worth it. Safe trip home...

I have to say a huge KUDOS to you guys for doing this. I have never heard of this place but will be on the lookout next time. And I will try to remember to do the exact thing on one of the ports during our transatlantic before heading across.

I agree with you!! Hated the line to get the beeper. Then trying to fight your way past the people who won't move so you can get seated. Not very organized or very well thought through!!
