  1. For us in port Canaveral, They knew the total cost for 8 nights and paid us cash at cage. No receipt but checked off the sheet where we indicated "park at port" to verify funds payout.
  2. Nice, Enjoy. Those extra perks do add up and make it feel a bit more special.
  3. Some of the larger ships do have a "hot dog stand" on the upper decks. Celebration and Mardi Gras have tucked into Lido. Do most of the deli's have hot dogs? I realize these may not be top shelf
  4. Some form of chips and salsa or snack mix at select bars. I realize the humidity is not in favor of these snacks.
  5. Just asked about this last week. Was told 12 inch diameter max and bring in your carry on. I have had some problems with security on last two cruises. Fan is 9 inch diameter pedestal oscillating. Security was trying to measure height and not diameter. Had to get lead security to bring fan on. I will be taking a "fabric" tape measure for their use. Port Miami and Port Canaveral.
  6. I think most mainline cruises are more similar than different. "Fun" is subjective. Most of our friends are loyal RCCL and tend to "look down" on Carnival. Works for me and allows us to enjoy our cruise with people more similar to us. We are laid back and enjoy relaxing vacation time. Not sure how to answer you question, guess you will find out in 16 days.
  7. This is great news! be prepared for an amazing time and fun, fun, fun!
  8. As mentioned above -Custom door decorations. -A custom banner to hold while taking pictures. Could be group or unique to the different celebrations. -matching t shirts -A tripod to hold camera/phone to set timer to have your own group photo. -As mentioned, private van/bus to tour together. Look under specific ports of call to get ideas of non carnival offerings. -custom beach towels printed to match. -we have ordered cake toppers and just had the wait staff add those to a pre-ordered cake and those could be over different days to celebrate each event seperately. I am certain whatever you decide, it will be amazing.
  9. Our first Carnival cruise was in 1995, skipped 30 years from cruising, now try to go at least twice per year. When looking at our history, more random than predictable. -Been on 22 cruises with 136 days at sea. -Traveled through two tropical systems. (Actually, quite fun for me) -21/22 have left from Florida. One cruise left from Puerto Rico. -Have flown to port twice, driven 20 times. -10/22 cruises have been on fantasy class ships. Paradise most frequent at 6 cruises on her. -Standout cruise, Cuba. Just because. -Favorite port, Curacao' -Never been on water slide. -Been in every style of cabin, but only one suite. -Have been offered upgrades 8 times, only accepted twice. -Love the salad bar and French dressing at the salad bar. -One "behind the scenes" tour and on the bridge twice. -Never witnessed a fight. -Saw one POD of dolphins in Gulf of Mexico. (hundreds) -One helicopter (grand Turk), One submarine (Aruba), One Americas' cup sailboat (Cozumel) -Most frequent port- Cozumel -We don't interact often with CD and usually only see them at debarkation waving goodby. On the radar, ABC in August, Panama Canal January, and Alaska in May. Really enjoy the crew on all of the ships. They are the difference for us.
  10. Please send some pictures and details, we have a cruise next May and would love to know what we are in for! thanks
  11. Elite in April had some game/drawing around 11:30 pm and also the fireball raffle for everyone with points from noon to 3 usually. Embarkation day gathering was pretty nice with drinks and finger foods. casino was not nearly as crowded as a recent Ultra. On the ultra, casino was PACKED.
  12. If you drive to port, they will pay for parking. For us, it was paid at casino cage in cash to reimburse the cost
  13. Ship selection depends on the person. Was able to convince my parents to go on a cruise for the first time in 2018. They were anxious and not sure if they would like it. Decided on 4 day western out of Tampa on Paradise. Selected a short cruise in case they did not like it and would not be stuck for a longer time. They absolutely loved it. They did not have any expectations of good, better, best so everything was novel. Make sure you have some plans to include some activities he enjoys to help the odds of starting a cruise addiction.
  14. We asked for cookies instead of chocolate delight. Those cookies arrived warm and were a much better option for us.
  15. It is only a con if you attempt to eat in all of them and fit in the clothes you boarded with. I guess variety is not a con, rather a "challenge" to decide.
  16. really liked our cove. It was deck 2 on magic. Close to the water. Amazing sunsets as they appeared as though we were on the water and level. Easy access to ports and easy access to two decks above for most events. We did like the privacy and additional shade cove provided. Yes, would do again.
  17. i understand there is a shared steam sauna in the locker rooms. The actual cloud 9 spa rooms need a pass. The actual cloud nine has two steam rooms, one dry salt sauna. Small pool. about 12 tiled/heated loungers and a few aroma therapy showers and one waterfall shower. Cannot forget the chilled wash clothes to cover your eyes while on the loungers!
  18. If you are asking this question, you might be. Every cruise line offers the same sunset-sunrise-star gazing and beautiful ocean view. Beyond this, everything is subjective.
  19. can get banana split from kids menu in MDR also. Other tables will ask "how did you get that?"
  20. agree with all of the above. the biggest difference is the food options are spread out over many area and different floors. Even Guys is separate. Food lines tends to be the biggest issues on most ships. I am not a show person, but yes, grand central can overflow. Whenever a bulk of passengers want to do one thing, it will feel busy. The food being split in genius.
  21. So many great reviews out there. Cons- rooms are bathrooms are smaller than other class of ships. - too many food choices to try everything in 7 days. - not a big fan of port of miami. - old school, but love having a dedicated atrium bar and big lobby. Pros - has almost all amenities - does not seem as crowded as the numbers suggest - new ship - its a cruise, crew make the difference. and they were good this January.
  22. The policy states 12 inch diameter. they were measuring height overall. We have a small 9" oscillating fan that is taller due to the stand. On most ships the low setting is more than sufficient, however some ships have issues with AC and we prefer a cold room. The white noise is a bonus.
  23. FYI. the port security has been really tough on fan size if you plan to bring your own. I dont understand what the big issue is?
  24. What sports on being shown on board? Big fan of NHL and leaving on Magic this week. ty.
