  1. Drake Passage can be as smooth as a lake or the roughest seas you'll ever be in. No way to tell. We've stayed in aft cabins in the Mediterranean and loved it. The view, especially of the sailaways are incredible, but we've been in rough seas in them and they do have a lot of motion. If you are prone to motion sickness I would not take the chance of crossing the Drake in bad weather in one. Anywhere else and I would always choose an aft cabin.
  2. Has anyone created a document for Expedition ships?
  3. American’s computer system melted down this week. Flights were a mess because of all the smoke from wildfires. The president of the airlines was caught using a private charter (embarrassing). This might be the issue. Try again this week. The only time I’ve seen no ability to assign seats is when the carrier is charging for advance seat assignments. I know British Air does this and a lot of regional carriers. Don’t know about American. We’re booked (still in unticketed) to SA through United in October and I was able book seats and see other flight options.
  4. Promo SUM23 has been extended and it gives a double past guest discount.
  5. You won’t be able to book until September but they should be on your MVJ in about 2 weeks. Ours showed up yesterday and we sail 2 weeks before you.
  6. Not counting embarkation and debarkation days, there are 4 scenic sailing days in the fjords and 1 scenic sailing around the Cape, 3 days are exploring glaciers with the toys, 3 are port days with excursions, and 1 traditional sea day in the Pacific.
  7. That is subject to change since the Hilton no longer exists. The hotel is closed and being converted into luxury condos & hotel and rebranded "Conrad." Our trip this year also stated the Hilton but we ended up at the Intercontinental for our 4 day Classic Greece extension. Those on the 2 day Athens extension stayed at the Marriott near the port.
  8. There are signups listed for the days we are at the glaciers. Zodiac landings, kayaking, and special ops boat.
  9. Promo code OML British Isles and Scandinavia plus a few more
  10. The shore excursions were posted today on MVJ for our Patagonian Shores and Chilean Fjords expedition cruise aboard the Octantis. We are trying to figure out what to book. Wondering if anyone has any feedback for the following: Castro Churches of Chiloé (included) Chiloé National Park Villages & UNESCO Churches Puerto Chacabuco Puerto Chacabuco & Surroundings (included) Rio Simpson National Reserve & Coyhaique A Glimpse of Patagonia’s Natural Beauty Patagonia Nature in Depth Punta Arenas Punta Arenas & Magellan’s Discovery (included) Strait of Magellan Park (included) Patagonian Andes by Foot (included) Strait of Magellan by Kayak Patagonian Farm Experience Heritage of Patagonia Magdalena Island & Penguin Reserve by Catamaran Punta Arenas Sights & Patagonian Asado
  11. Reminds of the limo guy Bud commercial Q: "First time on social media?" A: "First time on social media this small."
  12. World Café and Pool grill are open at 11:00 AM Here is the Viking Daily from embarkation Day on the Sky a few months ago
  13. The Port Talks are very useful. They are broadcast live on the stateroom TV so you don't have to go to the theater. They are also available on reply abut an hour or two after the presentation. Also, the tour director will be more than happy to answer any questions about any of the excursions beforehand. Where is your next cruise?
  14. Did you attend the Port Talk where they describe the details of the tour?
  15. I'm sure there will be a 4th of July sale, but some of the current deals have filled up so I think what we will see is the EBD promo on '24 and '25 sailings, which isn't anything special.
  16. It only takes one major medical emergency to bankrupt many people. Also Medicare, which I'm sure many of Viking's customers are on, won't cover most international travel situations.
  17. FYI Today is the last day of the 25th Anniversary sale. Lots of great deals and I don't think prices are going lower. Lots of demand right now. Viking sent me a reminder... Call Viking at 800‑464‑3595 contact your travel advisor 25th Anniversary Sale SPECIAL OFFER ON ALL-INCLUSIVE VOYAGES Book Today with a $25 Deposit Plus, Up to FREE Airfare ASK FOR OFFER: EBD LEARN MORE Book your next voyage with a deposit of just $25 and receive up to FREE airfare. 18. Those are the switches, I never noticed it lighting up, but maybe that's just me. One is a "master" that will control the cabin overhead lights and the other with turn on the floor (night) lighting. There is also a reading light in the headboard of the bed.
  19. I don't recall seeing any with a pilot light.
  20. A CEO once told me "It's worth it to lose some people's business"
  21. So nothing was "stolen" from you. Welcome to the world of Big Business and corporate law firms.
  22. Denmark has a tax policy designed to discourage private ownership of cars. Depending on the value of the car, where it's made, and the size of the engine, the tax and registration fees amount to an effective tax rate of between 120% - 150%.
  23. It’s not true that you have “no control” over carrier, connections, etc. You have limited control. Viking has contracted with certain carriers and even after they have booked your flights you can change them through MVJ before they are ticketed. The caveat is you must used the contracted airlines. Those include Lufthansa, United, KLM, Air Canada, etc. Major carriers that fly frequent routes to Viking’s destinations. Many times we were able to change flights and even departure airport to obtain better flights. This is BTW without Air Plus. If you purchase Air Plus you can have your choice. You can purchase it after your flights are booked, if needed. As far as Athens is concerned, I highly recommend the Classic Greece extension., not the Athens extension. It’s one of the best extensions we have been on. You can read about it here.
