  1. In my limited experience (8 X cruises) Celebrity has never been big on table waiters/waitresses….I’ve usually always had to go to the bar. I was on Silhouette last April and wait service in restaurants and bars was a shambles, but we were not long out of lockdown. I am on Silhouette again in May,,,,,I hope it’s improved.
  2. Same here,,,booked lunch in the Olive Grove plenty of availability. Not able to book the Beach House,,plenty of slots in Epicurean except Valentines night.
  3. I believe that to be correct. Maybe there is confusion re check in times as with,,,,,Online check- in closes 2 hrs before flight. According to EasyJet FAQs check-in desks at BCN airport opens between 2-2:30 hrs before flight. I have actually sat in the cafe landside waiting for desk to open 2 hrs before. Ive also checked in for my flight less than 1 before flight.
  4. I believe all flights from T2 are classed as Schengen area. Of coarse there can be hiccups but none of us has a crystal ball,,but in my experience walk off from Barcelona has always been around 07:00. In 5 cruises from Barca I have always booked a taxi for 08:00 and been stood outside of baggage reclaim waiting for it. Of course they should have a back up plan,,like we all do. Don't understand min check- in time? Do you mean earliest is 3 hrs?,,,latest can be 40 minutes. ps,I’ve always found Celebrity very reasonable in debark times,,,,show GR your early flight ticket they will give you an early debark. Heck they have even given me an early debark from Southampton to get on an Eavesway coach.
  5. There is usually lots of taxis outside the cruise terminal, but you can pre-book a taxi transfer just to be sure,,the driver will be outside the bag reclaim doors with a sign with your name on. Just Google Barcelona taxi transfers there are loads of companies. Just put depart from Barcelona Port. Btw,,taxi fares are a set price set by the Barca council. Just did a dummy booking,,,,,,,£34,,,,journey time 21 minutes,,,,1-4 people. Company called Hoppa.
  6. A lot these post are from US posters,,,,flights to the US mainly operate from the relatively new Terminal 1,,,,flights to the UK usually operate from the old T2. Book a taxi for 08:00 you will be at check-in for 08:30,plenty of time to get a 10:10 flight. I fly regularly Liverpool- Barca with a 10:30 return flight and I’m sat waiting to board. Most flights from T2 check- in won’t open until 2 hrs before flight time. Book a taxi transfer for 07:45 and you will be waiting for check-in to open. If you have an EasyJet flight they have their own departure terminal (T2c)and it’s a whizz through.
  7. No ‘U’ turn for me…. I caught COVID on a Celebrity cruise in April last year. I have done 3 more cruises since then and I have 3 more booked for this year. As the saying goes ‘que sera sera’….at 75 yrs old life is too short.
  8. You can be glad the P&O excursion is sold out,its a rip off. Book at the ticket office or online for £40 round trip. Book with P&O for around £70 and the only difference is you get a cup of coffee and a piece of cake. Not for the less fit but you can book one way to Myrdal then hire a bike and cycle back down yourself,,,very exilerating.
  9. Spain likely to scrap mask wearing on Public transport on Feb 7th Germany the same on Feb 2nd. Greece on Jan 30th. I was on Britannia in November nobody bothered whether people wore masks or not. And yes a few did wear them indoors.
  10. Easy,,,,you can book tickets on line,,,it’s about 200m ship to train. You can see the train in the centre of the photo.
  11. Hi. I would do it at home but the point of my initial post is you can’t use OBC if you do it this way,,,,you have to wait until you board. With £300 OBC there is usually nothing on board I want to use that for, hence use it towards DP. If it is a ‘faf ’ I will buy as you go until it’s done. If it’s on day2 the cash part of the DP above the £300 will be £74 less,,so it may only be a couple of ££ more than getting it on day1.
  12. I’m hoping Eavesway will arrive at their usual time of 13:30,plenty of time left to board and have a few beers,,,,I’ve always thought that with the excitement of being on board people seem to drink more the first day.🥳
  13. Ireland is not British and Scotland,,,well! Depends who you ask.😉 Back on topic… Is the DP now the most expensive in the whole cruise industry? I am away on P&O next month and with loyalty discount of 7.5% it’s about £36 pppn….£39.95 without..~$50 I am on Silhouette in May,I have Classic but no way will I upgrade to Premium I’m fine with Jameson’s.
  14. Hi…sorry it’s clear as mud but I suspect it’s for speciality dining. The MDR’s say ‘No Booking Req’. It says…….. As your safety and well-being is our top priority, we have enhanced measures in place, including reduced capacity online dining reservations. You will be able to make dining reservations fro 28th January.
  15. There is nowhere on the online booking where you can buy DP using OBC. A phone call resulted in being told I can do it when on board,,another complication is the loyalty discount,,for me 7.5%.,,I have £300 OBC. It was explained the OBC would be taken off first then the 7.5% taken off the cost that remains. ie7 nt DP=£559 less £300 OBC=£259 less 7.5 = £240 to pay.I think that’s correct.🤞 Has anyone experience of doing this?
  16. I was on Britannia in November and I got cans for my Vodka & Slimline. To answer another post above the V&T counts as one drink. As for beers I found every beer drink on the ship was included as was the spirits. I found only cocktails was restricted on choice. I never saw one beer that was over the £6.95 limit,,,,indeed a pint of Peroni was £5.20. My wife only drinks Prosecco,,,,at £6.25 a glass without pop or coffees or water she only needed x2 before dinner,x2 during dinner and x2 after dinner and it was quids in,and you don’t even reach half of your 15 drinks a day. Dont forget you knock off loyalty discount,,so Atlantic at 7.5% means your DP is only about £36.50 pd.
  17. I am on Iona from 11th Feb,,,booking for dining opens on 28th Jan.
  18. Anyone thinking of booking MSC for a Med cruise really needs to read the reviews. MSC do round trips in the Med,,,embarkation and disembarkation happens at every port of call. Cruises from Southampton are better,,but cruises from Med ports are bedlam, some who book YC never leave the YC area. Public areas are just noise noise and noise,,pushing and shoving the norm. I should imagine cruises from Miami are totally different to a cruise from Barcelona or Genoa.
  19. I read a report that Tilapia is the 4th most popular fish in the US so someone must eat it.
  20. Looking at the Planner for my upcoming cruise on Iona the sample menu for MDR still shows Atlantic Prawn cocktail as an always available starter.
  21. Maybe!! I’ve at times been called ‘mad’.😉 There is another saying “If at first you don’t succeed try try again” Thats what I’m doing,,,,but only once.
  22. I know it wasn’t all Celebrities fault,,but filling the ship to the max knowing they dint have the staff to service them was,,,,sailing from the UK with no Guinness and Boddingtons was Celebrities fault when there was no shortages on other ships sailing from Southampton. I agree about COVID my wife and myself tested positive the dat after disembarking. The shambles was getting a bleeper at 19:30 and actually sitting down to dinner at past 22:00. But eh oh!! These things happen and that’s why I’m giving them another chance. Btw,I’m not a one cruise line person,,,,last year I sailed Celebrity,FO x2 and P&O. Up to now I’ve P&O,Celebrity,FO and Marella (ex Celebrity Mercury) booked,,,,so I can compare.
  23. Reading some posts regarding cheerleaders,,here’s a question. I sailed Silhouette last April from Southampton,,,first UK sailing after TA. It was a shambles with lack of crew, shortages or absence of certain drinks like Guinness and Boddies and other failures,I introduced 6 friends with us,,they said never again Celebrity. Now I have booked Silhouette in May from Southampton, exact same itinerary.same ship, same time. Am I a Cheerleader,an Optimist or a Fool? JC
  24. And that’s the famous Swarovski crystal staircase,a feature on all MSC ships.
  25. Looking at the menus on the App for our Silhouette cruise in May and I know these things can change,,it shows Prime Rib for dinner on Day 4. It only shows the menu for 7 of the 10 nights but Talipia is only on for one night,,,it shows different fish dishes every night plus Lobster tail.
