Yes they will normally take the gratuity amount off the OBC in your account first then any purchases you make onboard The only thing I do not think you can use OBC for is future cruise payments & the casino I would do some reading on the O life OBC option before you take that as your perk

I would try to upgrade to Biz /Premium class even for the 3hr flight JMO

Make sure the online price includes taxes & fee in the total I have not found TA prices more than the cruise lines seems odd

I would say anything after 12 noon would probably be fine find the flights that work for you & submit those to O & see if they can get them without an upcharge You can go back & forth until you get the flights that work for you Then once they are agreed upon you pay the non refundable deviation fee If you cruise in in July I would start the process now the longer you wait the best flights are gone JMO
