  1. I have no idea about the Chefs Table, but wanted to say how lovely it is to hear that your 6 year old is looking forward to putting on his formal wear and is wanting to try the different food. I think this should be encouraged and I hope he is allowed to go.
  2. I think it depends what ship you are on and where you are (Caribbean and fly cruises are often a little more relaxed). To be honest with the air conditioning in certain venues, your husband may well need long trousers! 🤣
  3. Hi Tring, The request was those going ashore independently in Guernsey either went before 0830 (and the tours) or after 1000 (after the tours). So, we duly collected our tender tickets around 1020 from Anderson’s and waited. They appeared to be only using two tenders so the process was slow. Because we thought there may be a similar wait to return we abandoned our trip at 1200. We noted our tickets were called at 1210. However, since posting I have since learnt that the ferry from St Peter Port was quite possibly taken out of service at that time due to a medical situation. Now that is entirely understandable and if P&O had bothered to give any sort of update rather than just calling 80 ticket numbers every 25 mins, then we would have been more inclined to not give up. People returning said the waiting time was reasonably short due to the ferry transporting once passengers again. No issue with sea conditions.
  4. You will love her Sue. She is a bit old and certainly more traditional which makes her rather special in my opinion.
  5. No we were going ashore independently. I think the morning tours got away ok, but there were a few anxious afternoon tour people pacing up and down!
  6. Wow, that’s a good deal. I’m surprised that cruise isn’t near to full.
  7. Is that a specific ship and is it for this year or next? I looked at the possibility of a September cruise and was shocked how expensive it was as opposed to similar for next year! (I thought it was because solo occupancy was already high).
  8. What a lovely post Harry about your 7 yr old Grandson and what a kind young chap he sounds. I bet the carer could have wept watching the young boy go off with his new friend……
  9. I’m on deck 12 in a balcony towards the forward end. Should be able to keep fit with walking from one end of the ship to the other!
  10. I shall be interested to hear about how you find Iona as I have booked a fjord cruise on her next June. X
  11. Sorry to hear of everyone’s storm woes. We had thunder and heavy rain but avoided the worst of it. I have amazed myself (and is something I never thought I would do) aand have booked a 7 day cruise to Norway on Iona for early June next year. I’m an huge Aurora fan, but she just isn’t offering what I wanted for 2024 or 2025. So, I thought I’d give Iona a go. The price for a balcony was reasonable in comparison to other cruise lines. I am sure I will enjoy the new experience - and if I don’t, it’s only for 7/days.
  12. I eat all that garlic……. Keeps all sorts of nasties away!! 🤣🤣
  13. Carbon copy of my meal in Aurora’s glasshouse a few weeks ago! And very nice it was too!
  14. I agree with what you say Graham, but leaving a tip shouldn’t influence food quality or service given - but it looks like it does! btw - your steak meals looked delicious!
  15. @Selbourne - I hope you both have a great cruise. It is certainly a beautiful day for a sailaway with a Peller Ice in hand!
  16. Oh my goodness, I am so so sorry. Sending my deepest condolences to you and your family. Gill x
  17. With the two formal night dinners we ate in the MDR (Freedom) last week on Aurora the waiter only took our starter and main choices and we were then given the menu back again for puds after the main course plates had been cleared away. Coffee came after we had finished our desserts. That’s how it should be imo.
  18. Happy Birthday Michelle. So pleased you are both celebrating your special day on board a cruise ship…….. Gill x
  19. Most nights in Carmens and occasionally in Masquerades.
  20. @AndyMichelle Aurora is certainly a lovely ship, and worthy of consideration for a future cruise, but of course she is a bit worn in places, but then aren’t we all…… 🤣🤣🤣
  21. Oh dear. That is not really the ambiance you want anywhere, let alone in one of the pay for dining areas like Epicurean. I do think it is worth having a quiet word with someone in authority - just so you have indicated your disappointment in the quality of food and service. Sadly there is not a lot they can do about the other passengers….. However, I do hope you and Michelle are enjoying your cruise, despite the niggles. Gill
  22. Sometimes there will be a classical pianist in the Playhouse on deck 8 on Aurora…….
  23. In MDR on Aurora we all got our own toast rack with 4 half slices of toast. Butter seemed to be rationed and we had to keep asking for more (altho the waiters happily gave us more)
  24. Bar of soap by the sink plus shampoo and body wash next to the shower on Aurora on the cruise I got off yesterday. No flannels but sure you can ask for one…..!
