P&O Cruisers - What are things like where YOU are?
Angel57 replied to Host Sharon's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
I only buy trousers and dresses that are the right length on me and so never have to take anything up. But, I accept i am lucky that I’m not short or tall (at 5’6), but i am sadly somewhat rounded to make up for that…🤣 -
Sounds perfect to me. 👍

@Beckett please stay on these boards Jane. Your contributions are some of the best. There will always be a few on any forum that are full of hot air, verbose and full of their own importance. Don’t forget the block button if really needed! -

@Josy1953 what sad news to come back to…… My sincere condolences. Your friend will live on through your memories and by talking about her. -
I never put anything on the card unless the money is in the bank to pay for it the next month. However a credit card will give you a certain level of protection (section 75) if a purchase over £100 goes wrong. But, we all have to opt for the most efficient way to manage our pennies that gives us peace of mind.

I agree Sue. We are all very very lucky to be able to cruise and I always appreciate that when on board. I love to have a wander ashore and then stop for a coffee or a glass of wine with some tapas or snacks and watch the world go by - and if I’m sat in sunshine it’s even better! I really hope you will be able to be back on a cruise ship soon…..😘

What kind of people are p&o trying to attract?

I was cruising in the 1990s - thankfully, I’m still alive! 🤣🤣 -

In my view “class” is determined by your behaviour and the way you treat others as opposed to anything else……- 90 replies

Returning to the same ports multiple times?
Angel57 replied to Interestedcruisefan's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
It is a lovely place to visit if you have never been before. Obidos (1hr away) is rather pleasant if you’ve “done” Lisbon. I especially like sampling the cherry brandy in chocolate cups whilst there! -

Have a wonderful time and whisper to Aurora that I’ll be seeing her in a few weeks!

Happy Easter everyone! Here is a photo of Freddie looking thrilled with his photo being taken (and with the aid of an app for his ears!) -
I have cruised because as a solo (and despite the exorbitant single supplements) it was always (and still is) one of the safest ways to see the world and meet lots of different people…… I would never have gone to the Great Wall of China, visited India and Vietnam etc etc on my own. I am returning to Aurora soon for my first cruise in 3.5 years. I’m not expecting it to be the same experience as before but I’m still excited to be boarding my second home once again albeit for only a week. It remains to be seen whether I change my allegiance to another cruise line after that. I appreciate I am not the type of passenger P&O is now interested in (single, mid 60s, only a couple of alcoholic drinks a day and no tours purchased this time). A shame, but I certainly had a blast on their ships for 25 years!

Arvia Godmother on Ant and Dec Takeaway
Angel57 replied to Gettingwarmer's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
I am not a fan or viewer of Ant and Dec’s Takeaway show, but I will admit to watching and enjoying I’m a Celebrity every year. 🤣🤣 -
Agree. First in the hole equals being at the bottom of a big pile of cases…🙄

When I did my world cruises in 2012 and 2013 my insurer was happy for me to leave the house empty providing someone went in to check on it once a week and the boiler was left on (at 10c I think). I was away for around 110 days both years. You also have to put everything onto direct debit so nothing went unpaid. I had no medical conditions apart from high BP and was in my 50s so getting covered was not an issue altho I did have to phone around various insurance companies to get quotes for the length of time away. I seem to recall I couldn’t get the full cost of the cruise covered, but it was near enough. It was a truly wonderful adventure on the lovely Aurora.

Perfectly put and I feel the same.

As it is so often - it is the way this sort of issue is being dealt with. If certain countries are enforcing the need for quarantine cabins to be available then that is out of P&Os control and they cannot be blamed. However at the very least all affected cabins (and especially if quite a lot of extra money has been paid for a specific cabin) should be offered the option to cancel or given a decent chunk of OBC. They may not be legally obliged to recompense but morally…….
