  1. The Bahamas is watching and will be raising prices even more.
  2. Still true. All the more reason for Carnival to go smaller. Royal's solution to fewer ports is shorter itineraries. But Carnival's smaller ships can get to more ports.
  3. Stock price is meaningless, but go ahead and dump your life savings into Royal since you are so confident. Royal doesn't have the cash to pay for any ships so their debt is going up. If they can get financing.
  4. Princess has converted, or is converting, the cigar lounges to arcades.
  5. No cigar lounges on any Carnival ship. Smoking areas on Panorama https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3490/#PO
  6. Maybe Carnival cruisers are smarter than Royal cruisers? Carnival is doing a fine job of managing their debt, thank you. And had almost 2.5 billion cash on hand Nov 30. Royal? Less than 500 million at the end of last year.
  7. Carnival once had a non-smoking ship. They learn.
  8. It would be smarter not to follow Royal. Carnival isn't going to put a new ship on short cruises for now. They would put one in Fort Lauderdale before they put two in Miami.
  9. Mobile is great with the elevators. Last time I cruised from there they had someone directing people traffic to the right lines.
  10. For the lazy https://www.rapidtables.com/convert/number/hex-to-ascii.html
  11. Much better than it used to be. Better organized, too. The elevators are huge. I was pleasantly surprised at Christmas. It was faster than I expected. And when parking on the roof, you are always last out, so nobody is in your way. But if too long of a line, there is an alternate elevator at the far end of the building and the door was always open. They may have changed that for security reasons.
  12. I guess a bonus for parking at the port garage - they have seacaps IN the garage to take your luggage before you park.
  13. One would think. She does have a different number to call. For that matter, she will even be on this cruise. One of the reasons I called her and gave her a future booking was because it seemed impossible for me to cancel a Princess cruise. I was dying on hold and on chat at the same time waiting for a human at the other end. At least she could get someone on the phone even if it was an idiot. CVPs would have the internal phone directory available, I would think.
  14. Everything we know yesterday, today, or tomorrow will someday be a thing of the past. Change happens. I expect MDRs to disappear and ships to only have food courts (mostly) included and for those who want table service, pay restaurants. It isn't sustainable to live in the past. But small ships, however they evolve, will always have a niche market.
  15. These days perhaps they have all outsourced since it is a money maker. But I have stayed in the area (e.g. Embassy Suites), where the (outsourced) valet line has wrapped around the block. I at last like to check into my room before checkout time. In days gone by, the Holiday Inn near the Convention Center (now Hyatt Place) didn't, but I see Hyatt added a valet.
  16. As a follow up, several hotels in that area don"t offer parking of any kind, so it is up to the customer to book their own parking.
  17. The official link if it works: https://airtable.com/appin6uTVeCF8mthS/shrxzucqLGHbpDmm8/tblZJCAW6us7UhDmZ For the Spirit, the listing didn't appear to be in order. I remember John Heald being asked this question the other day and it wasn't known at the time. I guess the time is now known.
  18. As it says, this is for area hotels for a nightly rate. Perhaps a different level of the garage is used for those. It would make it easier for security
  19. It seems like most excursions these days make everyone sign a waiver anyway
  20. I know several. They have the same issues when they have to call Princess. One TA I am using for the next Princess has hung up at least twice on clueless idiots at Princess U. It seemed like the rep had to put her on hold while they asked a manager every question she asked. For questions they really should get everyday.
  21. The booking already knows the age and shouldn't let the excursion be booked in the first place, I would think. It may or may not have any impact, but a doctor's statement of physical fitness couldn't hurt.
  22. We can draw our own conclusions The leader of a gang alliance: The 46-year-old Cherizier, alias "Barbeque," was formerly an officer of the Haitian National Police force. As a police officer, he is alleged by the United Nations to have played a role in multiple massacres, including the killing of over 70 people in 2018, when over 400 homes in the capital's La Saline neighborhood were set on fire. Cherizier, who is originally from the Delmas area of Port-au-Prince and often makes public appearances in a beret and camouflage, gun in hand, went on to announce the creation in 2020 of a gang alliance. Headed by him, it brought together nine capital area gangs and is called G9 Family and Allies. https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/barbeque-cherizier-gang-leader-seeking-topple-haitis-government-2024-03-04/
