  1. Rabbit rabbit rabbit! Please! Glad we’ve made progress on AIDS! thanks to all! It’s freezing here! So jealous of that beautiful palm tree! We sprung for permanent lights this year, pricey but never another ladder and they can be infinitely customized. And they’re LED so very cheap to use, and can be set for a beautiful wall washer look. My dad fell off a ladder one Christmas putting up the lights and wasn’t able to work, made for a tough year when I was a young child. So that’s always a worry. @smitty34877sending caring thoughts for you and Tana! @kazu Newfoundland is one of our favourite places, I want to go back, and yes I think a land trip would be best! You’re welcome how ever you are!
  2. It really depends on the ship. The vista isn’t much bigger than a verandah on the Pinnacle class ships. So not really worth it IMO. Our friends had one when we were in a verandah and our balcony was much larger, so lots of variation. We loved having a Neptune, the priority tendering and other perks are nice, but it is pricey. We’ve also enjoyed the extra space on a signature a couple of times so that can be a good option. Just not sure how they compare on a Pinnacle ship, as we had them on the vista class.
  3. There is a wonderful novel by Lisa See, Island of the Sea Women, that is about Jeju island. Well worth a read. That’s a wonderful itinerary.
  4. Good morning and thanks all! Good news @MISTER 67! I wasn’t sure about cauliflower pizza but we tried the Costco one and it was surprisingly good, We’ve bought it again and it will be a regular for us. For giving Tuesday, Cocacola is matching donations to Ronald McDonald House, a lovely place where families can stay when a child is undergoing treatment at the children’s hospital. I’m grateful for this place that helped our daughter this year. Has anyone else seen the photos of Mauna Loa? It’s making me nervous as we are due to visit early next year.
  5. Good morning and thanks all! My deepest condolences Vanessa to your and your BFF! Glad you were able to spend time together earlier in the day. May you both find strength and peace. I am sorry so many are struggling here, sending my care and concern. Have fun on the cruise Sandi and Dixie! @ger_77 have fun deciding on the new door, I like both, depending on the main door. We replaced ours several years ago, but it could use an update now, but it’s the cost of a nice cruise. Well the house is quiet now that our little houseguest is gone. Seems appropriate that the photo is upside down, sorry, lol!
  6. We too had one of our wood burning fireplaces converted to a natural gas insert. It does put out a lot of heat, which is much appreciated in the winter as it is in an open beam ceiling room. Ours has a switch that is turned on. Sometimes it takes a few tries to light if it hasn’t been used in awhile.
  7. We very much enjoyed the northern ports. I would choose that one, as the other itinerary has both Nagasaki andHiroshima. We found Hiroshima amazing, but not sure I could do both ports on the same trip. Another thought it may be cooler up north. Hakkodate has an interesting eight sided fortress and amazing seafood. Aomori was the port that allowed us to visit Hirosaki castle.
  8. Thanks you for sharing. A bit concerning if each port will have different rules and the requirements for ships to leave.
  9. Good morning and thanks all! A big thanks for the photos of Cyprus @Quartzsite Cruiserand @Cruising-along Hope to get there next year, fingers crossed. I really liked those mosaics! Well sad to say Croatia beat Canada, but my Croatian dentist will be happy😉. He has given me great advice about Croatia, so I’ll forgive him, lol! Prefer my turtles wild and free
  10. Just finishing his the Travellers, An interesting concept. Also recommend Beneath a scarlet sky, by Mark Sullivan, based on true life resistance in Italy during the war. And Adrian McKinty, Under the Cold Cold ground, set in Northern Ireland during the troubles. ok, I’ll stop now, lol!
  11. Good morning and thanks all! Hope our American friends had a good thanks giving! Was a bit busy with many medical and dental appointments, finally hoping the temporary crown stays on, 4 dental appointments this week, argggh! But all is ok thankfully for me. Our lovely neighbour got out of the hospital earlier this week, but went back yesterday and had emergency neurosurgery last night. Hopefully things will improve soon. @seagarsmoker glad the meds are helping! @StLouisCruisers how exciting for your grandson! One of the students I taught did go on to play for Man U and Bayern Munich. So you never know! @aliaschiefenjoyed your photos of Hearst castle, such an interesting area. We’ve visited twice and would love to return. We also enjoyed the elephant seals and moonstone beach. @MISTER 67 discovered a new writer, Chris Pavone. Also love Daniel Silva @Quartzsite Cruiserenjoyed your Photos! Hope Steve is getting stronger! @Horizon chaser 1957wonderful photos, We’re also dog sitting so life is busier than usual, lol! She is on guard, although was not too happy about the deer at 2:30 am!
  12. We did visit Vladivostok, and although interesting it was shocking how bad things were crumbling at the viewpoint, not to mention the dismal quality of the museum we visited. It has a wonderful harbour, but pales in comparison to St. Petersburg.
  13. Thanks for everyone’s good wishes. It’s not a recurrence although I have had a couple of basal cells before, just not squamous and as it’s early the excision should work well for both. My DH has had Mohs on several occasions so I’m familiar with that as well.
  14. @superoma we have flown in and out of both Heathrow and Gatwick many times. From Heathrow it is easy to get into central London by tube. We also have enjoyed visiting nearby Windsor when we’ve stayed at the airport overnight. From Heathrow you will be immediately on the major M roads for driving. I don’t recommend it jet lagged. We have found both the bus and trains very good and they are both available at both airports. We enjoyed taking a train out to Oxford last time and then renting a car and driving from there. So depending on prices either airport works, Gatwick also has a quick train into London right from the terminals, Both airports have good hotels for over nights. cheers!
  15. Good morning and thanks all! Appreciate all the kind words. @seagarsmoker hope you both feel better soon! @Vict0riann congratulations tomorrow on 60 years! @kazuglad your luggage is having such an interesting trip and will be home soon, seems like you have teen age luggage, argh! a few more different photos of our lady of the rocks and Montenegro.
  16. I had applied for renewal nearly two years ago, and they said a new one is now being sent out. Hope it happens for you too! I may have even been over two years, just so glad it’s approved now.
  17. @kazu@MISTER 67and @JazzyVThanks for the good wishes, it has been replaced for now, but have to get a new one soon. I told him I need a few more decades out of the new one, lol! Yesterday wasn’t my day, was called back on two skin biopsies and both need to be reexcised as they were cancerous. But in the scheme of things, not so bad and we will be dog sitting for a few days, should be interesting! Lol!
  18. Good morning and thanks all! @1ANGELCAT happy birthday, hope you have a better year! @rafinmd @ger_77 @kazuwelcome home! Off to the dentist as I hope they can just replace a crown, argh! I got my Nexus renewal after two years, yay!
  19. DH is always approved and I always have to go interview for renewal🤷‍♀️. But good news today, after two years approved pending interview they approved me sans interview! So there’s hope!
  20. It is eye opening to see how you are treated. DH had foot surgery and was in a wheel chair for a day and the difficulty of moving around and the way some people treat you is a surprise.
  21. I have so enjoyed following along! I wish you’d had better weather in French polynesia, It am so glad you have been able to avoid getting ill by following precautions. That gives me hope! Although I am concerned for the crew member who was ill. I too love tahitian black pearls and have a gorgeous necklace and a few earrings. I’m sure you’ll enjoy that purchase! I have found some gorgeous ones at the big box store. welcome home!
  22. Enjoyed your Madeira photos! I worked with a lady from Portugal and it was her favourite place!
  23. @Miss G lol, it’s sunset. I’m not an early riser, I’ll leave sunrise to Roy 😉
  24. Good morning and thanks all! Love the quote, the book thief is one of my favourites. Bon voyage to all those preparing to leave! And welcome home soon to Jacqui. Sending prayers to all struggling right now, mentioned or not. @Cruising-along so glad the tests for your DH went well yesterday, living with cancer is not for the faint of heart. I understand the need to just get on with things and not dwell on the situation. All the best! Our neighbour is still in hospital with the brain bleed. Hoping for a good outcome.
