  1. It is bad. I think with all the new hires HAL really needs to do an “Elon Musk” and bring everyone back to the office. It is not only the long waits it is the misinformation which sends you back into the wait zone. flight Ease is a whole different issue. They do need more people but they are fighting the massive tidal wave of airline cancellations and constant changes. It is discouraging for the consumer.
  2. Hi Matthew, I am glad you enjoyed the ship. Routine maintenance is a normal part of daily ship life. It never stops. Pre-Covid the ship offered back room tours of the kitchen and occasionally other areas. Some super lucky passengers were allowed to visit the bridge but that doesn’t happen often. Usually there will be a scheduled event in the theater where the captain will give a talk and take questions. Watch the when and where for that on one of your sea days heading north.

  4. This is a real lame suggestion. Sign out of the app, if possible.
  5. This is a cruise line not a police force and they are not a legal authority and not a court of law. If there is no actionable cause they cannot be responsible for deciding exactly who is a bit off - that would be a lawsuit waiting to happen.

  7. Ok, here is a bit more complicated fix but once you learn it - so simple. Rapidly double click your home button. This will bring up a screen full of all of the currently open apps and windows. Swipe each one up until is disappears, it is now truly closed. Once all are dismissed, try again. I have one or two more tips if that doesn’t work
  8. Hello neighbor. We are in the same town. We moved here many years ago for opportunity and quality and cost of living. We have not been disappointed. I feel our nest egg is likely double of what it would have been if we had stayed in our home regions. We travel at will.

  10. I don’t think the cruise line is going to stand in judgement of one passenger over another unless there was direct cause. That would become a nightmare every time any couple would have an argument. If you can’t prove criminal activity or true cause then you need to remove yourself from the situation at your expense.
  11. Try tweeting Gus too. Someone needs to wake the dead over there. This ongoing customer service debacle was “cute” 24 months ago but they need to adjust and get all hands on deck. If they can’t answer customer service needs they need to quit offering the service.
  12. I think many of the rules are malarkey but if a private business owner says no shoes, no service I follow the rules. I took a relative to the clinic today and had three medical professionals shake my hand and never washed theirs. I pulled out the hand sanitizer and sanitized - that has always been my habit particularly in a medical setting. It is just a good practice.
  13. If there is room you could buy it. If not you could request an early exit from the cruise and fly home.

  15. Ha ha! 3 weeks ago I was a HAL weary but after sailing back to back from a HAL ship then onto a “luxury” ship HAL completely won me over. The luxury ship was so inferior in so many ways. I couldn’t believe how dedicated and genuinely decent the HAL crew was. My food was very good with a few exceptions and my quarters were excellent (and affordable). The only weak spot were some of my shore excursions but I took an unusual amount of excursions because of Covid
  16. Both the test and the certificate must be from a medical office. If you got your original test from the doctor or even a nurse at a drug store that will work, now go back to that location and get your certificate of recovery after the 10 day “recovery” period.
  17. My view is that the gratuity that is on your bill or prepaid is given to the crew and is divided up among all crew even the ones you never meet. Cash goes to that crew member even though even those are supposed to go into the pot to be divided. the very best thing to do for a special crew member is to mention them by name in a review or on a comment card or in the app

  19. We made a choice in our 20s to live in an affordable region but in a major urban setting with two major airports. It has allowed us to afford whatever whims, plans and travel we want as often as we want. I have seen many people move in retirement without proper research only to spend a lot of their retirement funds reversing their decision. I had one friend from the northeast move to Arizona based on slick marketing only to sell the new house and try to buy back her old one after the first heat of summer. If you go, rent for a while before making a decision.
  20. Agree. And that dress code is set by market research, nothing more nothing less. If a line is super traditional that is because they have found that it is a marketing plan that works for them. There are consumers for every level of style

  24. Depending on the airline and fare class you may not be able to select seat numbers to 30 days out when HAL actually pays. That seems to be a new thing.
  25. Flight Ease is a contracted third party provider. HAL may need to look for someone else if these problems persist. I would not like that to happen because they offer some excellent deals. When Chase Ultimate Rewards changed contractors all of the great deals disappeared too. sometimes I am too suspicious and wonder if a competitor contractors might be sabotaging their systems to get the contract - worse things have happened in the world of corporate espionage. Flight Ease serves much of the CCL fleet and it would be a juicy contract
