  1. My understanding is that when you click issue tickets the ticket is paid, I am not 100% sure. In my experience all flights are paid no later than 30 days out. the only change I have noticed of late is I cannot see my seats or pick my seats on select bookings, usually ones where I am flying economy. For my business class and premium economy I can see my seats and change them regardless when I book
  2. That is where independent travel comes in. You can control your environment when traveling independently and don’t have to worry about enforcing your standards on others. Always in travel you must have an exit plan when something does not work out.
  3. I don’t think they need to make up rules. As it is we rely on both the CDC, US government and the Canadian government and that should be sufficient. Those who are very worried should travel independently
  4. Most of those are prescribed by laws or CDC except number 2. Why on earth would they add that one?
  5. This is the problem with descriptions, for me that is a stroll. The current ranking system is meaningless. I really don’t know what they could do except show you elevations and distances yet some would not understand that.
  6. There is no excuse to scream or seriously inconvenience others. The guides are not nurses or maids, they are guides. I have on occasion been with people who are not fit for the excursion perhaps it was the description or it may have been an error in judgement. In no case did they impose upon others except to politely ask where they could wait. A polite request usually gains the sympathy of all and if possible we will all slow down or take turns assisting. as I often say, in travel you must be willing and able to alter your plans . If that means leaving the tour and taking a taxi back to the ship, do so. If the description was not adequate you can then take it up with HAL and request a refund. Nothing like requiring a refund to get them to write better descriptions. i did notice on my last cruise that there were some more details in the descriptions but I agree with others there could be much more detail.
  7. It seems these threads devolve into folklore, speculation and battles.
  8. @TiogaCruiser I wonder what flight ease is doing. They seem to be the greatest source of urgent issues
  9. If you are concerned about Covid beyond the established guidelines it is a question between you and your personal physician. And if it is a no from your physician there is nothing we can say to change that. We asked, the physician tested our immunity levels and said yes. That is how it is done
  10. We get a table for two but in the past have requested to move. I don’t want to waste my vacation with people i don’t get along with. I am always prepared to leave a ship or any situation if it turns bad. As a matter of fact I was about to jump ship on my river cruise last month but my sisters implored me to stay. I stayed only to enjoy their company and port days.
  11. I just checked the Zuiderdam land and sea tours for August September. Every other week is now unavailable so I am assuming they will be either consolidating or cancelling 1/2 of those journeys. Hopefully they will inform people with sufficient notice.
  12. I have a separate annual medical policy AND Chase
  13. You only need one test to get on the ship if you are fully vaccinated. You should have some CAD and can get some at the airport
  14. I have the preferred and no preexisting conditions
  15. Perhaps this is a OBC issued by a travel agent with special restrictions. My shareholder OBC has always paid my gratuities
  16. It is bad. I think with all the new hires HAL really needs to do an “Elon Musk” and bring everyone back to the office. It is not only the long waits it is the misinformation which sends you back into the wait zone. flight Ease is a whole different issue. They do need more people but they are fighting the massive tidal wave of airline cancellations and constant changes. It is discouraging for the consumer.
  17. Hi Matthew, I am glad you enjoyed the ship. Routine maintenance is a normal part of daily ship life. It never stops. Pre-Covid the ship offered back room tours of the kitchen and occasionally other areas. Some super lucky passengers were allowed to visit the bridge but that doesn’t happen often. Usually there will be a scheduled event in the theater where the captain will give a talk and take questions. Watch the when and where for that on one of your sea days heading north.
  18. They are wholly owned by Carnival Corporation. I don’t think this is the issue.
  19. This is a real lame suggestion. Sign out of the app, if possible.
  20. This is a cruise line not a police force and they are not a legal authority and not a court of law. If there is no actionable cause they cannot be responsible for deciding exactly who is a bit off - that would be a lawsuit waiting to happen.
  21. I was speaking of DFW. I can’t speak to California as we have never lived there. We are both not originally from Texas.
  22. Ok, here is a bit more complicated fix but once you learn it - so simple. Rapidly double click your home button. This will bring up a screen full of all of the currently open apps and windows. Swipe each one up until is disappears, it is now truly closed. Once all are dismissed, try again. I have one or two more tips if that doesn’t work
  23. Hello neighbor. We are in the same town. We moved here many years ago for opportunity and quality and cost of living. We have not been disappointed. I feel our nest egg is likely double of what it would have been if we had stayed in our home regions. We travel at will.
