That is what I look for in a cruise shoe, dual purpose. Many places visited while on shore require a nice looking shoe anyway. I am not walking into an Italian church without looking presentable but comfort is necessary to get there

I don’t think you should cruise to Alaska this July. You said you are scared of Covid, I think you should find some more relaxing way to enjoy your anniversary. I fear you will spend your entire time nervous and anxious. You are going to be surrounded by people of a different mind and that might upset you. How about a nice condo in the mountains with a hot tub with a mountain view. There you act like newlyweds and have complete control of your environment

Veering away from cruising for a moment: some jobs or at some points in people’s career in a job collaboration is very important. I had one of those head hurting jobs at one time. As to why it matters in travel is there are so many new hires who don’t know the minutiae which can make leisure travel work for the customer. On my upcoming cruise I am only taking my tennis shoes and my Clark’s. I will have the cruise line keep the Clark’s polished so they are presentable for the dining room. I wear slacks or long skirts for dressier occasions so if the leather is polished it is presentable. I wear short casual skirts otherwise and either shoe would be fine with those. (I don’t wear tennis shoes in the dining room) my Clark’s are leather and can hold up to the cobblestones of Europe. My tennis shoes are for exercise and outdoor hiking.

We were on the N Statendam in Europe. DH is a smoker, he bought his on a special offering in the shop at $33 per carton. I don’t know his brand.

Dressy but not gala. I was seated, by their request, with 5 star mariners and they were dressed dining room evening casual. We were just a notch up from there.

At ports I have sailed from it is 11:30. I never show up until after 12:30 much to my husband’s pain. That let’s all of the early birds who want lunch on the ship get aboard. You know, they do have food most of the day😉

Let me repeat for those all puffed up about businesses paying employees You used the service then you pay. Businesses provide a service. The customer pays for that service - lock, stock and barrel. There is no part of a business that is not passed on to the customer, not one single dime, paper clip, tax or regulation. It is all paid by the customer after all they are ones who derive the benefit. Any business executive that tells you otherwise is either lying or stupid
