  1. I so agree with this. There are better options on the standard, mass market itineraries. I am sorry you didn’t like the food and I am really surprised there were no seafood entrees. I usually eat seafood on HAL 5 out of 7 nights. Maybe you missed gala night as they do serve lobster, escargot and the other gala menu items. As a matter of fact another passenger on your same itinerary last week posted a copy of the menu showing those items. I am glad you had a lovely time nonetheless and what you describe entertainment wise is about what I would expect. HAL is definitely a different product than Carnival, Norwegian or Royal which I like too.
  2. Why? So you would have the gift of gab. I think it worked for me😊. I did it years ago and there were no lines but yes I would not stand in line for that. Actually I most enjoyed the grounds around the castle.
  3. Thank goodness you saved the trip. I am glad to hear Carnival stepped up. The days of online only agencies may be behind us, so many people just didn’t come back to work after the shut down. I hope you have a wonderful trip.
  4. @Sebbiesgrammy how far in advance did they give you notice? I just reread and you indicated less than 2 weeks. That is unacceptable. Are they giving you compensation?
  5. Ok, I guess I have to do the footwork so we don’t have to argue. Here are the links to lodges https://www.princesslodges.com/ https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/cruise-destinations/alaska-cruises/alaska-land-sea-journey-cruise-tours/denali-square.html
  6. I agree. When I first read the review embedded in Hank’s post I chuckled. We were on that same cruise plus had sailed on the NS from Florida. Everyone sails for different reasons and those reasons will bias their review. I simply needed to get to Europe and for less than the cost of a first class airline ticket I got a 3 week cruise. I was, overall, a happy camper.
  7. Princess has numerous Alaska lodges in the Denali vicinity
  8. I do not recall which of Princess’s lodges were closed. It was likely one of the ones at a less traveled location. It is not a traveler issue, it is a staffing issue . The Holland lodge announced no more reservations
  9. You can sell odd lots. Anyway I have only kept 100 shares of carnival for OBC and have washed them before. The first shares were bought many, many years ago
  10. The Lodge announced weeks ago that they were taking no more reservations for summer 2022. Princess has closed one of their lodges for the summer, they have a number in different locations throughout the area
  11. I had the same result albeit prior to my cruise. They failed to pay the ticket resulting in cancellation. They reinstated my ticket at a higher price with HAL paying the difference. Also I was insistent that they book me on the same exact flights which cost them a bit more
  12. Creditors can’t do anything unless a payment is missed, that is the law in all of the western world. Whether to spend less than $1000 on a stock purchase for OBC depends on your personal travel plans.
  13. Be warned Schiphol is about to get worse https://onemileatatime.com/news/amsterdam-schiphol-caps-passenger-numbers/
  14. I did a wash of those. I bought the new shares, waited the appropriate amount of time and sold the old shares. Used the loss to offset gains on taxes. I am positioned to do the same thing right now. For me CCL is all about OBC, not an investment
  15. I get that. I have a genetic trait that my DH calls whooping sneeze. It is not disease based, it is not allergies, no doctor has successfully diagnosed the cause. The women in my family will start sneezing and the sneezes are like hiccups. Thankfully it only occurs a few times per year.
  16. CCL will have a new CEO soon and HAL has a fairly new President. I assume we will see more changes both as a renewal of brand and as cost cutting.
  17. I think the current OBC was reinstated until July 2023. The date is given on the OBC form. It would require a shareholder vote to revoke. You can actually apply now for your OBC, there is no reason to wait
  18. Maybe they lost the licensing deal. Personally having grown up on jazz, blues and Motown , I wasn’t a fan of BB’s on NS. I had liked the musicians on the K and did enjoy it. Maybe consistency played a role. I have never visited the Rolling Stone
  19. There are a lot of reasons people cough. It would be absurd to make such a rule as if you cough you can’t cruise
  20. Yes, here are the facts. Like dividends it is subject to change or cancellation at the next shareholder meeting https://www.carnivalcorp.com/shareholder-information/shareholder-benefit
  21. It sounds like they had a software failure. This happened with the flight service my cruise line uses. The software failed and many flights were canceled. When we finally go through they rebooked the flights and the additional fees were at their cost. It was not pleasant but it was resolved. my best advice is to note their office opening hours and be the very first caller tomorrow morning. Set your alarm. I am sorry you are going through this
  22. 100% accurate. The family is very involved and also enjoys a good reputation both in the travel industry and among the global financiers.
  23. I use them all the time now except when I can fly Southwest. I have a multitude of refundable Southwest points. In the current environment when cruises are still being cancelled and passengers are still being tested it is an extra layer of protection. If your cruise is cancelled the flight is automatically cancelled and refunded in full. That is the major benefit. Flight ease has a reputation of providing exceptional international prices particularly for business class. As an example I recently flew back to DFW in Business class for less than what economy would have cost. I have also gotten some exceptional domestic deals but that is rare. I always check! Flexible air can be changed as much as you would like until final payment. Theoretically it can go up in price but I have never had that happen even in the current inflationary environment. Restricted is locked in, paid for and if changed does have a penalty. As I understand it once you request ticketing you have in essence gone from flexible to restricted
