  1. It all depends on you. Some clients couldn't care less what the ship looks like and others have a need for it to be very fancy. What are your criteria?
  2. Because they are older than passengers on other lines? Or because they choose to spend more money? Those are the two largest defining characteristics of Regent clients. I am not trying to argue...just trying to say that a particular age group or a particular spending habit doesn't mean a person is more mature, polite or sophisticated. The vast majority of people I have met on Regent are WONDERFUL...but the same holds true for those I have met on RCL or Celebrity or HAL. People are people and some of the kindest, most giving people I have ever met are those with the least to give.
  3. Do you think the people on Regent are nicer or more honest than people who pay less for a cruise....simply because people on Regent choose to pay more?
  4. Correct...and although Regent will not discuss the number of people on a waitlist or how they clear the waitlist, there has long been the feeling that certain priority is given to higher level SSS members in certain cases (but not all cases). There is a single person assigned to clearing waitlists and I think they do this to have some control/discretion over how they do it.
  5. Hi Marc, I am sorry but I do not know. Things are changing and we wait for news of the changes. I will share what I can.
  6. New rules for deposits on the 2026 WC. Dear Travel Partners, As we draw closer to announcing our 2026 World Cruise, we would like to inform you of some important deposit policy updates for this sailing and or all future, newly-opened itineraries and combinations 61 days in length or longer. This does not impact any existing itineraries or combination cruises. Starting March 22, 2023, we will be implementing a first and second deposit system. The First Deposit per person to secure your client's cruise is 10% of the applicable cruise fare for all suites and must be received within seven days of booking. The Second Deposit per person is 30% of the applicable cruise fare (inclusive of First Deposit) and is required 270 days prior to cruise departure. Final balance must be received no later than 180 days prior to cruise departure. Please note, the deposit and penalty schedule for the Regent Suite will not be impacted by this change.
  7. The two are not mutually exclusive. I would expect them to cut in areas that have the least possible impact to their clients.
  8. Why do you think they killed the Pool Deck Grill for dinner? To save money.
  9. I didn't claim they were great at the moment. NCL said that their anticipated 2023 bookings would be what you read on page 14. They will do whatever is required to ensure 100% bookings. The cost of what a client consumes is nothing compared to fuel, salaries, fees, etc. Whatever they get from the final people to fill the ship is almost entirely profit.
  10. Just read their earnings report - page 14. https://static.seekingalpha.com/uploads/sa_presentations/529/91529/original.pdf Clearly lists FY2023 guidance at 103.5% occupancy. Companies don't typically lie on these documents...the SEC would own them.
  11. With expected 100% - 103% booking rates, there will always be someone to take the rooms....but do you honestly think Regent is going to tank the experience? Really?
  12. I think the 3 older ships have (had) them...we haven't used them in years. They might be for crew only these days.
  13. If you have more overnights you have less ports in a given time frame....most clients want more ports. Having said that, the closer to optimum cruise speed the better and this is far below the 18 - 20KTS that Regent typically sails at. https://www.marineinsight.com/know-more/how-much-fuel-does-a-cruise-ship-use/ This site is really interesting.
  14. They want the new ships out as fast as possible as they expect to be at 100% capacity this year...
  15. Lets just hope it is never necessary on a Regent ship...
  16. Perhaps but not in a drill...I have no idea where you people have been. 😃
  17. Pass on touching strangers thanks
  18. Don't waste your time going to the "authentic" Amazon village - it is fake.
  19. You are correct. The Crew Fund subsidizes (or used to) tickets on excursions for crew who was allowed the time off. In about 400 excursions, we saw crew on about 15. They are there on their own time, not to work for Destination Services. Unfortunately, Destination Services is not nearly as strong as it was before Covid. Part of the reason is the changing landscape...the other part is that the new people are not as good as who they replaced.
  20. Fair doesn't mean equal, fair means equitable.
