  3. I was excited to received a Princess email with the subject "It's Nearly Showtime" and inviting me to "use JourneyView digital planner to bookmark events of interest". Well, I was excited. I clicked on "Get Started" with every expectation that there would be an explanation of the JourneyView digital planner. If there was, I couldn't find it. Perhaps it's the app? The Journey tab tells me I haven't bookmarked anything yet. True; there's nothing to bookmark. If I click on "Show Entire Ship Schedule", it uselessly displays the ports of call and the arrival (but not departure) times, the same way it always has. If I click on My Journey, it shows my dinner reservations, the same way it always has. Can someone explain the meaning of the email, if there is one? This is the latest example of pre-cruise annoyance from Princess, something I don't recall having experienced with other lines.
  4. We're planning to rent a car. Maximum flexibility, minimum cost. Unlike many Caribbean islands, the roads are good and they drive on the right.
  5. Maybe I'm not understanding your question, but you don't have to be on board to use OBC for Princess excursions.
  6. I endorse the rental car alternative to parking. Here's another option. My wife and I had a very long cruise booked which we ultimately didn't take. Our plan was to sell the car near the port (probably Carmax) and buy another when we returned. Depending on how long you were planning to keep the car, it might work out.

  11. The app seems to have been updated! At least, it's no longer showing all the non-functional "Download Port Guide" links I had.
  12. From what I see, nearly all Ft. Lauderdale departures/sailaways are now 3:00, so I think we're normally looking at a thin window between 1:00 ish (when cabins are normally available) and 3:00 ish. I'm with MacMadame on this. Of course, things like medication and documents are critical, but don't require a piece of luggage.

  14. Blue Marble, help, I'm not tracking. On Dec. 5 you posted a WB world cruise itinerary for QM2. On Jan. 12 you posted port calls that indicate an EB world cruise, but I can't see where either you or anyone else noted the apparent discrepancy.

  16. If I'm tracking, all of the MDRs take walk ins. Is there any way to assess the wait times short of physically showing up at each one?
  17. Arguably, there aren't any rental car agencies within walking distance of the Manhattan Cruise Terminal either. Enterprise is a half mile, if you're keen on dragging your luggage that far. Maybe they'll pick you up. Regardless of docking location, very few people are going to want to head out on foot in NYC.
  18. Flipping this question around, is it typical for Sabatini's to show 100% availability while the Crown Grill shows essentially nothing? Is this maybe an app bug rather than a reflection of actual demand?

  22. Absolutely. But that was not was Princess was indicating. I'm going with the explanation that they didn't have time to create a customized message indicating an unexpected problem, as this was the first time it ever happened. 😉
  23. I am somewhat sympathetic to Princess IT on this. (I'd be more sympathetic if their work was of a higher standard.) However, by blaming it on routine maintenance they are demonstrating a lack of respect for the intelligence of their customers.
