  1. I don't know, looks like all they have to do, like suggested is put a row of pillows on one side. That's what generations of parents have done and those beds are big. They sleep two. But if she is worried, have them supply a crib. All we were trying to point out, is that it is a non issue for most of us that have delt with it over the decades
  2. I don't think I ever asked a cruise line if wife's fold up travel scooter with lithium battery was allowed. If it goes on a plane, than it's allowed.
  3. Just for some people to understand, there is no 30 mark. You don't need an email. You should see a link on your cruises when you log in on a computer. Also, this is a bid, and you bid based on what you are willing to pay. If you bid higher, your bid might be accepted. if you bid more than you can get the room now, than you have lots of money to toss around. If you bid low, and you get it, than your are very lucky. The majority of people do not win a bid. Once you win, you can't change your mind. So only bid if you have the money and desire to do so. Personally, when I pick a room, it is the price I want to pay. I only need a bed, bathroom, and a balcony to sit on. The smallest and cheapest room is what I get.
  4. How is it cold, would this be the parents issue to worry about? Not being cold, but seriously, my grandkids have slept in full size beds in hotels, and at my house for years. Maybe as a grandparent, you forget that kids are very good at climbing out of cribs, onto furntire, and if there is a staircase, they will try to climb it. Toddlers fall all the time, and it is just part of it. A sofa bed is not high off the floor, and you can easily put blankets up one side to act as a buffer. Not really a big deal. But than again, it is the parents job to decide what they want to do unless a person does not trust them? I trust my kids to parent my grandkids.
  5. I am 3 times. Grand daughters been sharing a futon bed for years and were toddlers doing it
  6. A sofa bed? Don't really recall ever being concerned that a kid will fall out of it, but it is really low to the ground. If they roll off, they might not even wake up. Kids are pretty sturdy. Just tuck them in, and and maybe put some pillows along the side. The other idea is that let the parents worry about it, since it's not your room or kid. One of them can sleep with the kid, and act as the blocker since a sofa bed can be only one side.
  7. I understand.....you mean that the ship is not Tired because in ship years, it is still young. What you wanted to know if it looked, like someone forgot to comb their hair, and put make-up on. Furniture can look used after a year and rust on ships, makes it look like a ship. But in 5 years, the ship will also look "dated" which is a common item also.
  8. Not sure what the traffic congestion has to do with your question, but take a taxi, no wait, and not that much money
  9. Could you tell us why you want to know. Do you want to smoke in the casino, and are asking, or are you hoping no smoking allowed?
  10. Well, I have an iPhone. But I don't have an Android. So, I don't know how that would work. I'm assuming from this comment that you don't use a phone, or even have a smart phone. So, the advice to you would be wait and see on your computer, that is assuming you have a computer. You see, I can't answer the question, and if I were to assume you don't have a smart phone, that might be insulting or if you don't bother with a computer. It's the same when people ask about phone packages etc, and not know what company you are with. So if you have an iPhone, do this trick......and you will find the number. I guess for you, if you want to know, you need to tell us, what you have
  11. Don't ask this board. Get a letter giving permission from him, that is notarized and/or check with your court system to see if it is allowed w/o him and get it in writing from the court. Do all this before you go and in this case, the court will be your answer, not us
  12. All ships, have both 110v and 240v plugs. Newer whips have USB plugs. When you say you need a "converter" is it because you plan on using items that will not work with 240v? Example is hair dryer. Most electronics, like phones, cameras, computers etc are dual voltage so to carry a "converter" does not seem to be needed. Adapters to change USA flat pins to the Euro two pin plug is needed and you should keep a bunch of those on hand, and very cheap to get. Since we don't carry hair dryers etc we very seldom carry a converter for international travel now. But it is a personal choice, and what you need.
  13. So, I have been on ships for over 30 years. During that time, I had kids and other family members with us or by ourselves. The poster wanted an "easy" way to communicate, while all their staterooms are together. There is no easy or "cheap" way to do so on a ship, without paying for it. The app, is unreliable, and to use it, each person would need their phone with them (something not very common) and it does not notify you (so you need to always check your phone). So, the question is how do you communicate, and to expand on it, how do you communicate without phone access. Now going back with kids, and family members, we used the old school way of discussing what we were doing, and meeting times etc for the day. Yes, it seems odd, but many people on ships, manage to have fun, do things, and still manage to find each other without phones, or texting. It is a option for people to simply talk to one another on a ship. I also understand, just the idea of not being able to instantly communicate is scary, and many people have never experienced this in their lives to live without a constant connection. But it is doable with communications by using your words. I can assure the poster, that I have never lost my wife on the ship, or kids. Plus we did it without texting
  14. I use my mouth with verbal communication. Old school but works
  15. you said dietary "restrictions" as opposed to "allergies". I have restrictions to a small degree and can figure food out myself. So, not to find some food that can be eaten, seems like it is a pretty extensive issue, and not something like a low gluten diet etc. It sounds like you wanted specific food choices as opposed to food not made a special way. I think all the suggestions people said are ok, but for some reason, I think this is much more than what anyone can guess. Cruise lines as well as many restaurants will work with you. So that is why I think the issue is bigger than what is revealed.
  16. What is a long cruise? If under 14 days, no need to wash, and pack what you want and need. If flying, just pay the extra fee, which is cheaper than washing anyway
  17. 6 1/2 I would not worry about the ship for the kid. Wait for those worries in the teenage years. For now, a kid would not know the difference
  18. The entire new ships are made to be accessible, and that includes seating everyplace. Even if you don't see it on any plans, it will exist and be fine.
  19. Looks like they can make it into a nice little bar.....for overlooking the ocean?
  20. Everything is worn when it is not new. Everything is dated when it is not new. Ships sail in harsh conditions, and is under constant repair. Think of it. Why are you worried? It's a ship, and it's not about some rust spots, maybe some nicks in walls, or salty windows. It is a cruise, so pick what you want, and have fun
  21. 2011 and 2014 I was on Oasis class ships. The first ship came out I think in 2007 so not "decades" but rather a decade. I misspoke. Shows will show on cruise planner for Oasis class ships at 60 days before. Like a cruise planner items, they just show up. No need to stay up at midnight, the shows won't get reserved that fast. No need to see what shows are on any other ship, since no reservations are used. The App is something really new, and the old app is different. I prefer the webpage. I might also add that when I was last on an Oasis class ship, the huge amount of info found on the internet, like this site was not in existence. Besides the shows, many excursions sell out, and that seems to be a point of people complaining also. As far as shows are concerned if you keep reading on the internet, you will find so many people don't actually go to the shows, just like so many people now opt for MDT. Because they don't like to be told times I guess. For the shows, people reserve the shows just in case. You will have no issues going to a show, without a reservation, because a huge amount of people will forget or just not go,except for the adult comedy which seems to be very popular.
  22. There are staff members that actually go around, and clean. When they see litter hiding behind a chair or in a planter, they pick it out. At some point, it went from a few ducks random to people littering with bags of ducks around some ships. I'm not against some little kids games but it is litter for the staff, that needs to clean. As an adult, I can't imagine seeing a duck in my umbrella, or in my towel, or bag, and thinking its really cool that someone tossed a duck in it. Even if they have kids, they give it to them, and say oh wow, a duck. Just look at this thread on how defensive people are getting, and everyone posting are adults and not kids. If anyone posts a negative comment, like I am, I bet I will get at least 3 to 5 replies back not so nice to me. Like if a staff is carrying a bag of trash (ducks in it) where do you think it's going?
