Ship - Island Class Deck - Fiesta Cabin # - 502 Category - Oceanview Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern - Port, Midship Connects With Cabin # - n/a Accessible - no Quiet - some noise from chairs on Promenade Balcony Size - n/a View - very large window Privacy Issues - n/a Wind - n/a Soot - n/a Problems - none Comments - this cabin was a fantastic location on a hallway beside the Casino. There was no noise at all from the casino nor was there any smell of smoke. There was occasionally noise from the Promenade deck early, probably as they moved chairs to clean the deck. The window was very large and the ceiling higher than normal as this was formerly a publ space -
I saw it happen in December on two different evenings on the Sky Princess. My response is to the original poster whose brother-in-law only plans to wear shorts to dinner. I personally don’t care what he wears, but if he has no long pants he should be aware that he may not be able to eat in the MDR.
-
Just read back though this thread and see that a number of posters here have seen people turned away for trying to wear shorts in the dining room. If eating in the MDR is important to the original poster’s brother-in-law , the best thing to do is pack a pair of pants. You cannot be sure that the dress code won’t be enforced on his cruise.
-
The restaurant manager may not feel it’s a suggestion. If a passenger wants to eat in the MDR they should be aware that they may be turned away if they choose to wear shorts. It is not fair to tell people that the the dress code won’t enforced unless you are going to be the person at the entrance making the decision.
-
The point is that many have been turned away from the MDR for wearing shorts. The poster’s brother-in-law would be wise to pack pants if eating in the dining room is important to him. No one can predict whether the dress code will or will not be enforced on any ship on a given night.

The dress code states very clearly that shorts and ball caps are not welcome in the dining room. That is not a suggestion.

I like the location of DaVinci better than Botticelli.

How do you view menus for the week once onboard?
Torfamm replied to tjcruiser's topic in Princess Cruises
We have been able to see the menu for every night in the app starting on boarding day on our last two cruises. Sky in December and on the Island now -
How do you view menus for the week once onboard?
Torfamm replied to tjcruiser's topic in Princess Cruises
Click on “Dine My Way”, then “View or book individual reservations” There will be a tab for each day of the cruise. -
According to the website the dress code is the same in all dining venues on formal night. The poster’s BIL should bring pants if he wants to be sure of eating in them or the MDR. https://www.princess.com/learn/faq/pre-cruise/what-to-pack-for-a-cruise/

Did Celebrity get rid of the Classic Soda Package?
Torfamm replied to mpdog42's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The soda package is no longer offered. They have also stopped offering the Taste of the Vines wine packages that offered wines by the bottle. The only packages available now are the complete beverage packages that includes all sorts of drinks. They have versions with and without alcohol. -
We were with a friend who was turned away from the dining room on a Paul Gauguin cruise for wearing sandals with his long pants and button down shirt. Their dress code is similar to Princess’ smart casual every night. Men must have closed toed shoes though. Luckily he did have some.

No one can predict whether the policy will be enforced on any ship on any given night. If eating in the MDR is important to a passenger, they should plan accordingly.

I think you are confused about what the check in process is. The medallion app has nothing to do with the medallion device that had replaced key cards aboard ships. Check in is now done on mobile devices using an application rather than a website. Unless the passenger has a medical device that makes using a cell phone or tablet unsafe there should be no issues.

We had a great experience with Thumbs Up Tours. They were very quick to reply with information and easy to book with. The meeting information and itinerary were both very clear. Our guide, Marcos, was very professional and very knowledgeable. I’d feel comfortable suggesting booking with them for any tour. Our choice was the small group highlights tour and we enjoyed it. We were able to see a lot of wildlife as well as gain real insights into the history and culture of Costa Rica. Lunch at Ti-Ko was a simple, typical Costa Rican meal but the view was exceptional. It was breathtaking and seeing a toucan sitting in the tree next to our table was the icing on the cake. At $79 it was a much better option than a similar ship excursion.

Using the medallion app for check in shouldn’t have anything to do with his reluctance to use the medallion device. Unless you mean that he is unable to use a cell phone or tablet due to his medical needs you should be able to check in with the app.

Signs on the Island Princess say 8 am to 10 pm this week. If you carry your laundry on you should be able to start it right away on any ship.
-
There is way way to filter the options except to see the activities that you have bookmarked
-
What you quoted says very clearly that shorts are not allowed in the evening
-
I am so sorry for your loss. Glad you are finding comfort in your many happy memories!
-
The only personalization possible is to show the activities you have bookmarked

That’s true, it doesn’t always populate, but it’s certainly worth looking
