difference between carnival and princess
caribill replied to seagoer1973's topic in Princess Cruises
Princess has laundry rooms that passengers can use with washers and dryers (fees) and ironing boards with irons (free to use). Carnival does not. -
RCI has a single 3-level dining room. Works out well. Never been too noisy for us. Of course Princess has DMW, but Royal used one deck for anytime, one deck for traditional fix-time, and one deck for a combination of the two.

Does Medallion know which drinks package we have?
caribill replied to Smokeyham's topic in Princess Cruises
Chances are someone else is not using your cabin number but a waiter entering in a cabin number makes a typo and yours is entered by accident. -
MedallionClass app is showing incorrect loyalty level

Pre-cruise regular price for a single-device-at-a-time package for the full cruise is $10/day. With Elite/Platinum discount it is $5/day. -
New ideas of perks that could be offered

Like the Princess web site, signs at ports often do not get updated to reflect current policies. -
New ideas of perks that could be offered
caribill replied to cruisequeen4ever's topic in Princess Cruises
Do you mean early access to making DMW reservations? Currently Platinum and Elite can make DMW reservations as soon as they book a cruise. Hard to get any earlier access than that. I see no advantage to this unless Princess would process those bids and make acceptances before others can even make bids. I do not see that happening since the bidding process is supposed to increase Princess revenue as much as possible and not allowing all to bid before accepting early bids would likely not result in the optimal income increase. Often 2/3 or more of the passengers are platinum/elite. Lines would be as long as they have been with this as a perk. -
Our last cruise before the shutdown was on the Pacific Princess. On Jan. 3, 2020 at 9:30 AM on a sea day there was "On Deck for the Cure", a walk supporting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

They did before the pandemic shutdown.

Supposedly Princess no longer allows passengers to bring plastic soda or water bottles on the ship at embarkation. The policy says cans of soda and water (12 per person) are allowed. I do not know how much Princess actually enforces this policy.

My post was sarcasm (as wowzz recognized). Tides can be predicted into the future far longer than needed. At the time an itinerary is set for anywhere in the world, Princess can easily determine what the tide situation is for every port. When an itinerary change due to tide levels is announced as late as Princess has been doing, it is basically an admission that either those setting up the itineraries have no idea of how tides can affect schedules or are incompetent in their jobs. Not necessary if Princess would run the calculations (or just ask Mr., Google) at the time an itinerary is announced. The published itinerary should take tide conditions into account from the start.

Princess Plus Drink Package. When does it start?
caribill replied to Pioneer327's topic in Princess Cruises
Yes, but it has to be liquor that had been purchased by Princess from a Texas wholesaler. Thus, choices will be limited. -
Princess attracted us with their many unique itineraries that competing cruise lines did not have. As an example, Princess no longer has an itinerary that sails up the Amazon river to Manaus. So if I want to be on a cruise ship with 4000+ passengers going to overcrowded ports that can handle the big ship crowds, I have my choice of cruise lines and price can be the determining factor. It does not matter which cruise line I would take to just go to St. Thomas, St. Maarten and a private island with 4000 of my new friends.

But obviously more loyal to CCL and RCI than to Princess.

This did receive attention months ago when other loyalty perks were eliminated. Basically, the 10% discount now only applies to items not on sale. So if an item is at full price, you can get the 10% discount. If it is on sale, bye bye 10% discount. So 15% off makes it on sale. No loyalty discount. I assume the "sale price" does not have to be for a meaningful savings. If an item is reduced in price by one penny, then it is on sale.

Upgrade Bids Causing Available Cabins to Disappear on Site?
caribill replied to seagunthera's topic in Princess Cruises
The ability to bid on an upgrade does not happen before final payment and the bids are not necessarily accepted/rejected soon after bidding starts. So if you want to pay for an upgrade you have plenty of opportunity before final payment to do so. -
Royal class ships do have M6 Club Class cabins.

Back from Regal Princess - review and some thoughts
caribill replied to Leo37's topic in Princess Cruises
With EZAir, you can change or cancel the reservation up to 45 days before the cruise/flight with no chnage fees and a refund if cancelled, at least we can do this in the USA. If booking directly with the airline, unless fly at the highest rates, the funds would be non-refundable or there would be change fees. Now why Princess did not help the passengers whose EZAir booked flight did not make it to the port city on time is a different question. Princess should have helped then join the ship at the next port at no cost to these passengers. The post above about this did not say what happened if the passengers tried to contact Princess. -
Back from Regal Princess - review and some thoughts
caribill replied to Leo37's topic in Princess Cruises
Those people using Princess EZAir selected Easyjet as the airline to use and selected which flight to take. The same problem would have happened if they had booked Easyjet directly. Based on some other posts here, BA flights were also offered by EZAir, but these people did not choose to select one of them. -
Business class passengers can get seat assignments at no cost as soon as the flights are booked. Not necessarily the same for coach passengers who, depending on the airline, may have to wait until 24 hours before flight time to get a seat assignment at no cost.
-
I think this depends on the airline's policies. We have booked EZAir for a flight in regular coach next year from Europe to the USA that is booked as an AA flight but is operated by BA. EZAir allowed us to request seat assignments at no cost.

Was your b2b booked as a single cruise (one booking number) or as two cruises (two booking numbers)?
