  1. We have one heading our way too. Hope the fires abate and will be well with your son. spoke with my brother again this morning. Cairns and the entire region is absolutely inundated. They haven’t fared too badly because they are on a high hill looking down towards Trinity Beach and Palm Cove, but they have never known rain like it. My brother’s rain gauge has measured 1.4 metres (!) since last Tuesday, but it has overflowed a few times, so probably much more. The road to Port Douglas is blocked by a massive boulder estimated to weigh in excess of 200 tonnes. It fell away from the mountain above. It will have to be blasted for removal as it’s just too heavy for any machinery. Our prayers and thoughts for all the people of the far north.
  2. Thanks, Mic, but we checked that point, and we are clear. W’s is cumulative.
  3. I have just answered a query re travel insurance using free credit card cover. Check this thread: "Westpac & ANZ Complimentary Travel Insurance" (sic). Our free credit card insurance covers us for cruising in international and Australian waters. From memory when I took out the policy when making all our travel arrangements some months ago, there was no added charge for the cruise component, as there usually is with normal travel ins. I rang to check that we were covered for cruising, because next year we will be away for over two months, with two cruises included in that time. The patient advisor I rang directed me to a section of the Letter of Eligibility which clearly states that cruising as I've described above is included in our cover. Hope this helps🙂
  4. Hi phoenixx, On Page 3 of Letter of Eligibility: "Under this group policy, the eligible traveller/s listed below have access to International Travel Insurance which includes epidemic/pandemic (such as COVID-19) coverage and cover while cruising including while aboard a foreign registered cruise vessel in Australian territorial waters. Cover is outlined in the sections below, subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and applicable sub-limits outlined in the Policy Information Booklet." The PI Booklet is viewable online as part of the complete information forwarded by Westpac, and a scan through reveals the normal travel insurance inclusions and exclusions. Allianz is the underwriter. Hope this helps.
  5. Hmmm…somewhere in Australia, judging by the ghost gums. Cockatoo's maybe with those magnificent combs. No idea😂
  6. Spirit Island, Medicine Lake, Alberta, Canada? It's so beautiful there.
  7. So sorry you missed Dunedin, as we did earlier this year on Queen Elizabeth. It was really disappointing, because it’s one of the few NZ places we haven’t visited. I’m glad you’ve at least visited Dunedin before.
  8. We’ve sailed on Silver Spirit, quite a few years ago. Silversea cruises are sublime, on par with Seabourn.
  9. Spoke with my family this evening. They still have power, so that is always their main concern. Wind has freshened to a good blow (but no more, so far, than a tropical storm), and the rain, they know, will increase to a deluge and endure for days to come. They are prepared as much as they can be, and still chilled. I think my brother "went troppo" decades ago.
  10. The Sounds truly are spectacular. We have visited on land, before a very bumpy flight back to Queenstown in a small plane. We were disappointed not to experience sailing into this beautiful, pristine area in January this year. You are obviously sailing with a clean bottom😂
  11. We have friends cruising atm on Seabourn Odyssey.. They had a sea sister today.
  12. I certainly agree with the support, and it is indeed a dire necessity now because of geo-political tensions. However, I have read several erudite articles confirming that Tuvalu is not sinking, contrary to warmist/alarmist scaremongering. I agree with yarramar.
  13. There would be a grand view from there.
  14. There’s a stock of good homes in this beautiful spot, Lyle.
