We were told we had to bring our passports off the ship in Panama Columbia in Nov 2022, but no one ever checked them. That’s the only time it was supposedly required in my experience.

I can’t speak for Club Royale, but, speaking from experience, I do know that you cannot switch cabins if you decipher the GTY cabin number. It will not show up as assigned in Royal’s system, and if you call, they’ll tell you they can’t do anything until it’s officially assigned.

I guess I should have made it clear that I was referring to Royal’s perspective of dead weight. I’m one of those “dead weight” cruisers I was referencing. 😉

I’m sure Royal is pleased that they are running off so many of the top tier dead weight cruisers that are costing them a lot of money in loyalty perks and replacing them with the new younger family amusement park cruisers. After all, it’s about the bottom line and that’s where the money is nowadays. They’re just not trying to appeal to the more mature cruisers which used to be the dominant demographic.

Ignore the manipulated sales gimmick and just check the final price. Then decide.

Yes, I know that. What I’m wondering if it’s coded in the card to automatically allow access at the door card reader for D+ and deny access to D, or if they’re manually checking cards to see it if reads D or D+ to allow people in.
