  1. Surprisingly on my last cruise I saw they had them on sale in the gift shop. Going back in times there use to be numerous threads of people complaining of how disturbing they found them when many people used them on ships.
  2. Many of the "younger" generation grew up never seeing a wall phone. I know my grand kids laugh when they see an old rotary dial phone.
  3. They do have FDIC Coverage as it is required by law of all banking institutions. SVB is (was) a mostly a commercial bank. They do have FDIC coverage but most of the Companies that banked there have 100's of Millions on deposit. The "Non-Bailout" will mostly be covered by FDIC and will be covered by raising the premiums of all banks. Kinda like after a major earthquake insurance policies raise premiums to offset their loss.
  4. Have to agree. Even though I usually have premium water available I usually drink the melted Ice Water in the evening.
  5. Agree no points unless you actually take the cruise.
  6. I guess you saw the reports that all deposit will be covered. Financial regulators said Sunday night depositors of the failed Silicon Valley Bank will have access to all of their money starting Monday, March 13, while announcing new facilities to backstop deposit withdrawals across the banking system amid fears of contagion following SVB's shock failure last week. In a joint statement, the heads of the Federal Reserve, Treasury Department, and FDIC said: "After receiving a recommendation from the boards of the FDIC and the Federal Reserve, and consulting with the President, Secretary Yellen approved actions enabling the FDIC to complete its resolution of Silicon Valley Bank, Santa Clara, California, in a manner that fully protects all depositors." "Depositors will have access to all of their money starting Monday, March 13," the statement added. "No losses associated with the resolution of Silicon Valley Bank will be borne by the taxpayer."
  7. Last year they were advertising a "World Cruise" on Edge - It is actually 4 cruises and doesn't go around the world - Route - Rome - Dubai (October 30), Dubai - Singapore (November 13), Singapore to Sydney (November 25) AND Singapore New Zealand (December 9)
  8. When on Summit and Solstice they had paddles and balls in the benches along the perimeter.
  9. They still have them on each deck usually near the elevators.
  10. Once on the ship you create an account using your SeaPass portfolio number and then choose the free internet option. With this you will be able to see all the activities, reservations, room charges and message. Many report that when you receive a message they do not hear an alert. I personally hear a very low pitch ping and see a message waiting when I look.
  11. Checking in for the second or subsequent cruises is optional. It is not required as you will be processed as a group of other B2B's on turn around day. I usually check in and saves possibly 10 seconds as they don't have to take my picture and input a credit card.
  12. Yes the bottle is indeed 1 Liter. They have really raised the price recently. The price went up from $160 to 230 in January (per-discount) With current sale discount it is now $208
  13. No They no longer have priority except for Suites that can checkin at anytime regardless of checkin time on pass.
  14. The ripple effect will really be interesting. I was reading this morning the Roku has $487 Million in Cash and Cash equivalents in SVB.
  15. Usually no. The kitchens are distant from each other. On the S and M class ships they allow ordering off the MDR menu because they share the same kitchen area. They usually advise you to eat in the MDR on a space available basis in order to order off the MDR menu.
  16. Once onboard the ship, anything you charge to your seapass is first applied to your NR OBC, then Refundable OBC and Finally a charge to your credit card.
  17. Generally no but I have heard of some that were successful. When I called recently I was told no. Either / Or but not both.
  18. @Georgia_Peaches Thanks so much for a wonderful live post. I really enjoyed following and hope your flight home is uneventful and enjoyable. Jim
  19. Not being offensive but I would also feel a lot safer if there were no Mexican Cartels - But if there is an active Cartel that could be a thread I definitely want a police presence.
  20. With due respect would not agree. RCL already reported earnings on February 7 and beat analyst expectations with lower loss than expected and beat street estimates by $0.25 per share.
  21. It may be easiest for you to log into your reservation (phone is easiest) and select the same CheckIn time for each of you. You can complete the remainder at your convenience. You will have access to all persons on your reservation - just scroll down. I live on the West Coast so usually check in at 9:00 PM Pacific. Normally the earliest slots remain available for a couple days but noticed for our Apex TransAtlantic that all the 11:00 shots were gone by the next morning. Plenty of 11:30 were still available.
  22. About 15 years ago we booked with Celebrity Hotels in Vancouver. As others said we figured out later that the price was per person and things were so screwed up at the port that we eventually just walked across the street to the hotel and our luggage eventually arrived 5 hours later. Never again. Really felt ripped off.
  23. LOL.... I hate spell check. OK no Veterinarians either. I do have to say I love the Prime Rib and would normally order it over the Filet in Lumina. When you are on a longer set of cruises we do have a tendency to mix things up when on a M or S Class ship.
  24. We were earlier talking about Silicon Valley Bank. They had a run on the bank with $42 Billion being withdrawn as of last night. FDIC Regulators took over control and will be liquidating all holdings. It is the Second Largest Bank failure in history.
