  1. Because we lived near the Navy owned airport on eastern Long Island where a Grumman did all their testing of all the jets they built, we got to see so many types of military aircraft. The B-52 sounded like a huge hive of bees humming along. The Grumman A-6 was so incredibly loud and fast we had to stop talking because otherwise we would have to yell. Sometimes things on the wall would shake from the vibrations!
  2. Last September on Voyager one of our table mates was a pilot and flew jets during his career, either Navy or Air Force I don’t remember, and he told us some stories of the crazy things they did and didn’t get in trouble. His stories were so cool!
  3. We’re from Long Island NY originally and I along with so many who lived there worked for a time at Grumman when they were building the F14s - the ones like were in Top Gun. They were building others, but I worked on the F14s. Years later we moved out to the east on the island where they did all the test flying with them, all day, every day. My kids were amazed at that they could do with those jets. Truly incredible what that machine could do.
  4. we never order our drinks in the MDR. We’ll stop at a bar on the way there and bring one with us. We’ve had that same thing happen to us there.
  5. I agree with you both. We were on in February and as much as I love that ship, it did need some work. In comparison, we were on a Brilliance just 2 weeks after and it was in much better condition. It appeard to be run better too.
  6. IVe never done a dining package, so I’m not sure if you even get a receipt for the meal….but on the D+ BOGO we still got a receipt that showed what we ate and showed the gratuity., which we added more. I would be surprised if gratuity isn’t added then.
  7. Most cruises longer than 5 days I purchase internet. We’re D+ so each get 2 days. My DH uses his 2 days and then I transfer my 2 days to him. Then after that we share the one package.
  8. Be careful to not take any pictures of the people there. My DH took a photo of what he thought was a statue but it was a person who then said we had to pay him. We had no cash and he followed us and kept yelling we had to pay. Our escort had told us to be careful taking pictures, but he thought it was a statue. Just something to remember.
  9. Thanks everyone! This will make our 27 nights much easier.
  10. We’re going to be on it for a fairly long B2B later this year and DH uses a CPAP. We know they supply water and extension cord, but were wondering if since this is a fairly new ship, if there’s an outlet either next to or behind the bed. It would just be nice for this extended trip to not have a cord draped around with hooks (which he said he won’t do) or on the floor being a tripping hazard, which is what we usually have. We’ve been on it before but never noticed (or don’t remember) if there’s an outlet nearby. thanks.
  11. We like when cruises start or end in places that we can have a week or two to explore the areas that we haven’t seen yet.
  12. I meant they’re building an adult area….that’s what I read somewhere maybe? I could see construction last time we were there.
  13. We’re getting on in Venice (Ravenna) and getting off in Barcelona and how do you do that without a quote?
  14. Funny, my DH is still an IT guy but I’m the phone, computer, anything electronic guru. He is s a software guy, I know how to do anything on any Apple device because I love to play around and figure things out.
  15. While I love CC and the Suite Beach in Labadee, we also really loved the Adult only area on Disneys Castaway Cay. The buffet there was way better than the family area. I think Royal is adding one to CC too?
  16. I use the app all the time for everything, but still like to see the printed copy. Does Royal think those over 70 don’t know how to use a phone?
  17. I haven’t read all the posts here but I wanted to comment on something our cabin attendant told us on our last cruise and wanted to see if anyone on this thread else ever heard of this. I asked for a paper copy of the compass even though I use the app too, and was told by him that they are all instructed that anyone 70 and older they should automatically put them in the cabins. Now I’m not 70 so I wasn’t sure if I should be insulted or not. He said he has a list and showed me briefly without showing the names. Has anyone else ever heard of this?? edit to add that he said he was already planning on putting one in our cabin!
  18. We got them without asking….if not I would have asked…oddly the ones I got were the same but in white containers.
  19. In those cases I’ve had ours PLUS other cards. I just bring them to GS and let them handle it
  20. Same…. Mostly just on a lounger, under an umbrella, toes in the sand on CC
  21. Since the restart more than once we’ve had someone else’s cards outside our stateroom door 😳
