  1. Thanks for the info. It's nice to hear we probably won't be waiting all morning for immigration.
  2. Yes, I wasn't sure what time the Summit arrived in Portland today. Hopefully immigration begins shortly after we dock at 7. I really didn't recall Jim saying what time they arrived, so I thought perhaps it was the same time as we are scheduled to arrive.
  3. Oh, I know - it's just that they may not be as familiar with the ship as the departing crew, so it could take them a few days to re-orient. Not that I'd hate for anyone's long-awaited leave to be postponed, but there were several crew members on my Summit cruise that ended the beginning of July that were scheduled to leave right after your cruise ended. Sort of hoping they'll still be around! (My MDR server, Ida, my cabin steward Reynaldo, so I can say hi, and my great casino beverage server, Ashish, who made sure he had a cruise's worth of Mich Ultra at the casino bar for me). As for customs in Portland, we're scheduled to arrive at 7 AM. If customs inspection doesn't even begin until after 10AM, it seems like the entire morning in port is wasted. Glad we don't leave until 8PM, but then again, makes for a longish port day when the cruise ends the next morning. Guess these aren't third world problems though! Just looking forward to cruising again.
  4. I agree! But I'm sure Jim and Iain have taken good care of the ship for us! (I am a little worried about Jim's report that many crew are leaving at the end of his cruise and new crew will be coming on.)
  5. Hi Kevin. I, of course, am not Jim, but will be boarding the Summit a week from Sunday and will get to spend two days in Charlottetown. Do you have any suggestions in things to do/see, places to go/eat?
  6. The containers are a part of entire "village" made up of repurposed shipping containers: "In June 2022, we opened the full waterfront experience with a diverse collection of retail shops, a performance space, a waterfront Container Lounge, food trucks, public art and pop-up activities. All wrapped up in more than 60 shipping containers, celebrating everything that’s cool about our identity as a Port City." (Copied from the container village's website) https://area506.ca/container-village/
  7. I actually tried one of these on the Summit in June - it was gross! Since I hate wasting anything, I think I kept adding ginger ale to it until I could stomach drinking it.
  8. Jim, have you tried/been able to get an affogato at cafe al bacio yet? I forgot when I was last on the Summit, and am hoping to get one in September.
  9. Thanks. Although I usually don't do so, for Cadillac Mountain I did book a ship excursion. It's not too long, but does go to the top of the mountain, and gets back into town early enough for some exploring.
  10. Can't wait to follow along with you and Iain and your adventures. I'm hopping on the Summit the day you get off, except my cruise is only 10 nights - it doesn't go to Montreal. So far, I have nothing planned, except for a trip to Cadillac Mountain - my sister says if you get to the top and the sky is clear, you can actually see the curve of the earth. So, I will be awaiting your reviews of the places you visit and things you do on your third leg. (And of course, the rest will be great to read about also, although I don't think my budget will ever allow me to go to Iceland).
  11. Thanks. Yes, going this September to the northern Maine coast/Canada. I really like the Summit and look forward to two more cruises I have scheduled on her.
  12. I haven't gotten that point either, nor my points for my cruise that ended July 3rd. I've tried calling a few times, and I actually got someone who said it takes 30 days, as I was looking at the Celebrity page that said 10 days. But every time I did get a live voice, they said they would have to connect me with someone actually from the Captain's Club, at which point they then just put me back in the original hold line I had been on before I spoke with them. Guess if I call at 5AM I might have a chance.
  13. If that La Quinta is the one in Stamford, CT, we stayed there in March of this year. Just be warned that it is not updated and parts of the room looked pretty old. It also lacked detailed cleaning, like baseboards and floor corners had accumulated dirt on/in them. The diner food was OK, but if you're imagining a diner with low prices, this is not it.
  14. No point here yet, either. And I'm still waiting for the points from my cruise that ended July 3rd.
  15. Hi Jeff. You may have already posted about this, but how do you post pictures and still be able to insert text between them? Thanks! (And if I didn't already say, truly enjoyed your review, as I have all of the others).
  16. Second Picture: Third Picture:
  17. You might want to check out @David Kane's reply to the same question on the June 26 Summit roll call thread: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2825075-summit-june-26-2022-bermuda/page/4/#comment-63450772
  18. I can't believe I am finally cruising with a legendary CC live reviewer. I absolutely love your reviews, especially seeing the pictures of you and XZ dressing up each night in really great finery! Are you bringing your trunk with all your great wardrobe? I probably won't be running into you though, as you, being in the Penthouse, l and myself, being in a lowly veranda, will, in all likelihood, never cross paths. But no matter, I will still have this review to make me feel like I am really on the same cruise. Perhaps I'll see you onboard!
  19. Masks "suggested" or required? I received an e-mail that said they were required.
  20. Well, since you probably don't have time to buy two more carriers, may I suggest a cheapy fix for 2 more bottles? Buy 4 of those young children's blow-up arm floaties, and use two per bottle to cushion your bottles in whatever you decide to pack them in.
  21. Funny! I did about the same thing this morning, checking on empty cabins. Thanks for doing the math - cheers right back at you! Forgot to mention that my favorite place for sail-away from both NJ and from Bermuda is the Sunset Bar!
  22. Actually, we had no idea about the carriage rides - just happened to be in the town square to watch the dunking reenactment, and after that was over, saw the carriages pull up. Approached a driver (Crystal) and inquired about the tour, then decided to go ahead and take the ride through St. George. You're welcome. Last time I was on the Summit was in 2018, so things may have changed. I believe it was after the upgrades, but since we only had an interior cabin on that cruise, I don't remember much about the cabin except for four walls! The Martini Bar was great - I liked the icy bar and the shows that the bartender put on. Can't wait to board, and I have another Summit cruise coming up in September.
