Weve pre -registered for summer 25 on board in May 2022 , but more likely will want winter 2025. If when they phone us probably next year and we ask move to winter 2025 will our order in queue still be based on May 2022 pre-registration
  2. Agree, I ignore what other people do and just follow what cruise line says. Don't see any reason to change. Last cruise on Cunard paid auto gratuities in full but no more, next cruises are on P&O and Saga where no intention to tip twice . Would never give bribe in advance, one should expect very good service.
  3. Looking at pictures I wondered if It was a do it yourself dentistry course, could be s profitable side line
  4. On my forthcoming Carribean cruise number of cabins available in last two weeks Went from 134 standard Cabins 14 deluxe 12 midship suites For sale , to 148 standard 5 deluxe No midship suites For sale Looks to me as if people have been upgraded 14 from std to deluxe, 12 from deluxe to suite. The drop of 12 in total number available, most probably due to guarantee being allocated cabins. So all in all on this cruise 26 couples got lucky. Upgrades do occur, of course this needs a relatively empty ship. I estimate on this cruise only 647 passengers, c.f. 987 when full.

For those within 75 miles or just over, who would always travel on day, you get exactly what you would book yourself but with guarantees For those who are lot longer away, Saga can be inflexible, especially if you want to go day before
  6. Thanks everything reminds me of why we loved our first Saga cruise even under Covid restrictions in May last year. Just the same , but better in lots of little ways. Great to see library back. Great to see cheese selection back to full, do they bring round trolley Entertainment, looks good. Only thing missing is daily table tennis Can't wait to get back on board a Saga ship in November, trying out Discovery.

We must remember that this is not free , the average cost of the transfer is included in everyone's fare. For anyone who lives over 200 miles away the now exorbitant cost of private miles means it's often cheaper to hire a third party and forgo the saga offering. For those who live a long way away and like to travel day before but not drive themselves , Saga is inflexible you must pay exorbitant private mileage to travel day before. The only benefit of Saga transport is its their problem if you are late. Personally I'd prefer a cheaper cruise, and organise my own transport. Then we can travel when we want, with the certainty of a nice car and direct journey.

That's an extra hour and a quarter, and nearly 100 miles surely this detour would be unacceptable unless a real emergency
  9. Not personally, but on my forthcoming november cruise, there were 14 deluxe cabins still for sale and 12 suites , suddenly last week 26 deluxe now for sale and no suites. Indicating a lot of lucky people had been moved from deluxe to suite. No change to 135 standard cabins for sale, but expect some will be upgraded once people have accepted upgrades to suites, most probably the most regular cruisers
  10. It is very very unlikely anything will go missing. But if in the event that it does, you will not be insured if case is not locked.
  11. With a passenger space ratio of 58, Saga ship are significantly more spacious than Amazara at 40, think for me that outweighs coffee
  12. Never use Nespresso machines as like latte not expresso can't warm milk in suite. Perhaps we can rent it out. 😁 If you are a real coffee lover , understand you can get very good coffee bags for caffetiere . Apart from cup of tea before we get up , like to have coffee, afternoon tea, coffee after dinner , even night time hot chocolate (and malt whiskey ) in lounges , more sociable . So never tried dinning room coffee and from what people say never will. Were happy with coffee in lounges
  13. I email them at the cruisepostsales address
  14. Google a saga a guide to spirit of discovery, https://widgety-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/2019/07/16/23/37/10/e7a38093-6126-4564-b38c-2bc422cf00dd/Saga Holidays - A Guide to Spirit of Discovery.pdf Has example menus for all restaurants. Look at page two of this forum , thread "included drinks" tells you all about drinks MDR and speciality restaurants top notch and included. We found service excellent throughout ship, but it wasn't anywhere near full. Entertainment mixture of own team and some guests in main theatre. Speakers in day but not every day. Everything in main theatre is on TV by demand if you want to watch later Plus live music in Britannia lounge every night. Also the singer's from their team came and sang in Britannia lounge when guest were on in theatre. Ballroom dance music before dinner , then more modern after dinner. If you grew up in sixties or seventies felt at home.
  15. As all the offers and lower prices are on a guarantee basis, no one who paid a standard fare will ever be eligible nevermind how low the price drops. Still booking early is best. In fact it's only the people who booked late under the higher guarantee fare who will be eligible as they are offering same condition lower fare.
  16. I see on my carribean cruise, either they've just sold 10 midship suites , or they've just upgraded 10 people because of price guarantee. Perhaps paying for one is not best tactic, book deluxe and hope to be upgraded. I know once you've booked don't look at prices.
  17. Wonder how this will effect price guarantee The Daily Telegraph Saturday 30th See winter cruises have further price reductions. Interesting to see how price guarantee kicks in
  18. True possibly but less so nowadays, but they will loose and you will get costs back. The CAA has be much more proactive and airlines are much more responsive.
  19. I think the choice between midship aft is Size advantage Aft Whether you are prone to sea sickness. Advantage mid Potential for soot , Advantage mid
  20. The UK CAA rules are very strong in ensuring you get from A to B at the time you want , within 4 hrs, And protecting you from cancellation. If your flight is delayed or cancelled you have the right to book any other flight that will get you there on time. Unfortunately downgrading is only seen as an inconvenience for which you are entitled to compensation, not a cause to cancel and get a refund.
  21. Don't know about aft suites we had midships. In mid ship suite had a normal turn down service after we left for dinner, i.e. tidied bed , replaced any used towels, used cups etc. Left little bars of chocolate. In mini bar had two bottles of any spirits, I had malt whisky, OH had brandy, could have wine if wanted, plus beers and soft drinks as requested , plus nuts, or pretzels or other snacks. These were replaced as needed. Hardly used spirits as didnt drink in cabin given premium spirits included in bars.
  22. I like formal nights, but I do think they will die away unless cruise lines make them more special, should be more to it than just every one in formal dress.
  23. Did they say if they had to pay the private car supplement to come on their own a day early
