  1. Covid is still slowly rising in Australia and New Zealand so don't expect any relaxation until cases go down on land. Hopefully as summer really sets in.
  2. Just so sad for the poor people who lost their cruise and money
  3. We must be real suckers to pay for a suite.
  4. We had no trouble with the 2023 Capetown to UK leg. Got specific cabin.
  5. ONS office of national statistics, send out 50000, LFT tests per 2 weeks to a random selection (of people who have agreed to be part of panel) every 2 weeks.
  6. What do they mean by show appropriate proof you have tested negative.
  7. Best predictor of covid on ships is levels of covid on land. If they stay where they are , covid on ships will not change. Covid rates on ships, were roughly double that of ONS UK survey 1 in 10 on ship , 1 in 20 on land (ONS survey). This ratio has not really changed much.
  8. If you think about any UK or European cruise there are no country specific testing or mask requirements. There then are NO protocols in place that apply to everyone to prevent spread of covid, except for no library . PHE has said spread of covid via books is negligible. The isolation protocols are about once you have covid, You would only be tested if you were feeling unwell, so apply to a few people.
  9. I think in practice you can't get shareholders benefit before you've paid in full , but it doesnt matter if that is before due date
  10. There are a few considerations P&O suite is QG sized not PG, is that important. Food , For £2000 saving per person, at £30pp per night for speciality restaurants, that's £210 over 7 nights . So you can get very good food on p&O. You do get seperate breakfast restaurant. Finally the real difference decision wise is , price savings versus ambience . That's your choice.
  11. I have the same issue, even though i live in UK, when I try to book when im out of country it wont let you get direct to phone. Amazed the VPN doesn't work.
  12. That's my impression as well. It is smart casual minimum, not smart casual only.
  13. I have a tablet that I read , but outside on sunny sea days need real books. Avid reader so had a seperate bag with 12 books for out last cruise, prefer not to have to do thid
  14. Given that many people like to actually borrow books from the library, and it is one of the facilities that Saga advertise. I very much hope it stays open as a library not just a seating area. I doubt if I'll be alone in missing it.
  15. Firstly the dress code says wear what you are comfortable with in the day, so that includes jeans for both sexes. My biased opinion , nothing to do with worldliness. Jeans look nice if you are young or have still got your younger figure, up to a point However , one great comedy sketch was the man from Levi approaching Jeremy Clarkson (lookalike) who at first thought he was offering money to advertise jeans, but he was offering money to stop wearing them. Even though I'm 6 ft and still 34 waist, my wife tells me I'm to old for jeans , who am I to argue. You see Tony Blair (who) in jeans and you think , you're no longer a student.
  16. you must either be a saint or daft to have a test before cruise and put yourself in such difficulty.
  17. Email Cunard customer service and say you want a transcript of the call, stress this is your legal right.
  18. The answer is simple , then only way not to loose all your money is to not test for covid and say NO NO NO to all the questions. Very anti social you may say, but everyone is vaccinated and have taken decision to come on a cruise with thousands of others
  19. I said you can't get an administered PCR without lying if you are positive. There may be hundreds , but they all say, DO NOT COME IF YOU HAVE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID. So you have to lie , or do a home test.
  20. They still have lack of books as a covid protocol on FAQ. But as far as I can see except for vaccination no other precautions against covid. Can someone confirm that there is No masks No social distancing, e.g. stools at bar next to stranger No track and trace No routine testing. If so how can they justify no books, when even public health England has told libraries the chance of getting covid from a book is negligible.
  21. Arvia has one formal for a 2 week cruise, likewise is it worth it. I love formal and was very happy with 4 in a 2 week cruise. But only one, cant be bothered which is a shame. Still wear smart and i mean smart casual at night, not the ancient polo shirt
  22. Cunard's dress code is on paper very similiar to P&O. However after 6pm I think Cunard guests do make more of an effort it's more like P&O was like 5 years ago. Smart casual is generally smart . Cunard do have 2 formal nights per week, where most people make a real effort. The official dress code is wear what you're comfortable with in the day (swimwear excluded). I don't think you will find a cruise line where people dress up for lunch. Jeans are perfectly acceptable at lunch.
