  1. Same price as an adult and if you get a cruise only fare, gratuities also apply.
  2. Puerta Maya (that Carnival Corp uses) did add 2 berths for a total of 4 at some point but it sure didn't look like the International Pier could handle more than 2 when we were there twice earlier this year. I guess we will find out. If it does, I'm not finding it. I'm just seeing a list of ships and dates with no reference to specific piers. By the way, the link you provided doesn't completely match cruise mapper (which is what I use) or the Royal's website so I'm not sure if it is up-to-date.
  3. Yes, I'll be there in both November and December. And I'm familiar with the various piers and who docks where normally and have looked up which ships will be in port those days. My question relates to what happens when there are more ships than the typical pier of that cruise line can handle.
  4. So excited to be following along on your cruise. We will be boarding when you arrive in Tampa. Hope you have safe travels to Rome.
  5. I know that Carnival Corp generally uses Puerta Maya, Royal Caribbean Group generally uses the International pier, and most of the others generally use the downtown one but what happens when there are more ships than can be handled by any of those piers? On my next cruise RCG will have 4 ships in port that day (1 Royal and 3 Celebrity) and I'm pretty sure the International Pier can only handle 2. On another cruise this year, 9 ships will be in port (2 Celebrity and 1 Royal, 2 Carnival plus an Aida, an NCL, 2 smaller ships). I can find a schedule for Puerta Maya but not for the other piers. Is there some way to figure out which ships will dock where in cases like this?
  6. You can just ignore that. Your assigned dining room is Blu and no reservations are need. Show up when you are hungry.
  7. And I'm wondering what you think is reasonable to expect of a Captain.
  8. So Captains shouldn't get a vacation at all? And hasn't she continuously been on the Beyond since before it's inaugural sailing in April? Contracts for Captains on Celebrity I thought were usually only 3 months with 3 months off (and I don't think she is taking a full 3 months this time).
  9. I found it under Travel Updates. Since there still are requirements, I'm not sure how smart it was for Celebrity to bury it so deep. https://www.celebritycruises.com/health-and-safety
  10. The transatlantic isn’t for another 1.5 weeks so she wouldn’t be on board yet even if it is her plan to do that. There have been numerous comments on her Instagram posts by commenters who also heard she will be a passenger on the transatlantic but I haven’t seen any confirmation from Captain Kate herself. I’m sure we will all find out whether there is any truth to the rumor soon enough.
  11. How recently? That is what it used to cost with the loyalty discount but prices went up in the last couple months.
  12. Yes, almond milk is readily available. After my request that first morning, it was always waiting for me in Luminae for breakfast and it is also available for specialty coffees in Cafe al Bacio.
  13. COVID is an airborne virus. Hand washing won’t do a lot to prevent it. On the other hand, Norovirus is primarily spread through surfaces and so hand washing is incredibly important for that. And from my experience, there often is no good explanation why one table mate gets COVID and the other doesn’t. On my June cruise 3 of the 8 of us in my group tested positive at the end. All 3 of us were in different cabins and somehow didn’t manage to spread it to our cabin mates. I assumed once I tested positive my husband would eventually as well but he never did.
  14. Full price now the upgrade is $18 per person per day. Loyalty (if applicable) and pre-cruise discounts bring it down lower. Usually you have to call to upgrade pre-cruise.
  15. I was not at all impressed with the two Princess cruises since the restart, enough that we cancelled our third Princess cruise (none of them Alaska) BUT in doing our research for an Alaska cruise we are considering soon, we are prioritizing getting to both Glacier Bay and Hubbard Glacier over the cruise line which means Celebrity is out. We are probably leaning towards Holland but if Princess has the right itinerary, we would also consider it. We can enjoy a cruise on any cruise line (and did still enjoy our Princess cruises this year) and I think Alaska is one of those cruises where the itinerary is very important. One caveat, is that if you are currently booked on the Crown, I would hesitate. I realize she is in dry dock right now which should hopefully fix the engine problems but there is no guarantee that dry dock will fix the issues she had with having to miss ports due to lack of speed throughout the entire Alaska season.
  16. @lovrcclFor those that do get contacted, reports are all over the place as to how early that contact happens. Some say the contact didn't come until just a week or two before the cruise. We have not yet heard from our shoreside concierge for a Nov 6 sailing in an upper suite. As others said, being in a Sky Suite you may not hear anything but there is still time.
  17. Thanks for sharing your experience. As you compare cruise lines, one thing I want to point out is that Celebrity is not really a competitor to Viking or even Crystal. Both Viking and Crystal are definitely in a category above Celebrity. They are also smaller ships so will be a different experience (that maybe better fits you). Additionally, you are comparing their likely newer ships on Viking and Crystal to an older ship of Celebrity's that missed its revolution because of the pandemic. If your Princess ship had USB ports, it likely was one of the newer Royal class ships as well. Your experience on one of Celebrity's newer ships likely would be a different experience. And when you are comparing prices between lines, make sure you are comparing comparable itineraries. A Vancouver to Hawaii itinerary is a bit unique so can bring with it a higher price. We are doing the reverse in the spring and prices are significantly higher on that itinerary than our cruises to the Bahamas, in the Caribbean and even the Panama Canal. All that said, if you enjoy Viking, it makes sense to go back to Viking. We all have different things we look for in our cruise experience.
  18. I don’t dispute posts like this because if you are in a location with good satellite coverage AND there are not too many users overloading the system, those speeds can be seen on Princess ships. I experienced that on the Emerald in February but we were only at 60% capacity and the demographics were people who didn’t seem to carry around devices. A different Princess ship I was on in the same general area a few months later was at 100% capacity and everyone seemed to have a device in their hands. When we could get the internet to work, I was getting speeds around 1.0 download and less than 0.5 upload. If you read Princess boards you will see my experience is pretty common. In the winter when capacities were low there were very few internet complaints. The second capacities went up for spring break, the complaints were consistent across ships. The biggest factor seemed to be the number of people on board trying to use the internet. Princess is not able to deliver on what they advertise when ships are full. Edited to add: I don’t know enough about your number 1 and 2 points to comment so my lack of commenting on those points means nothing. I do agree that it is not just telework folks using all the bandwidth. Many sites people use for personal use also use a lot of bandwidth.
  19. Princess isn't actually delivering on what they advertised when ships are full and a lot of people want to connect.
  20. You keep whatever beverage and wifi packages you already had with the old room. Otherwise, you get all the suite amenities (Luminae, Michael's Club, Butler, Concierge, saved seats on chic nights in the theater, priority boarding, etc.).
  21. I haven't watched this one yet but in the past the number of points seemed to relate to the length of the video. If I recall correctly in the past 30 minute videos were only 30 points. And ones that were 45+ minutes were 50 points.
  22. Thanks! We are on the Constellation though. Unless someone else has the contacts for the Constellation, I'll just reach out through the general retreat phone number or e-mail.
  23. Sharing this timing is helpful. We are 32 days out and I haven't heard anything yet. I've been debating at what point I should proactively reach out if I haven't heard from them. It sounds like anytime now is a good time to do that.
  24. In addition to all this, there will be plenty of people who are completely asymptomatic and don't know they are spreading COVID to others. It's not just the fact that some are inconsiderate of others. It's that with this virus, people are contagious before they can even know they have been infected.
